Chapter 10 - Practice Battle

James had been standing in the middle of the field with a man named George, who was his opponent. The man before him looked the same age as James, with almost the same height, but with much more developed muscles.

*Ding

A chart suddenly appeared before James, mentioning a mission.

[Physical : 20 (weak)]

[Aura : 30 (weak)]

[war points : 2]

[Skills : need battle points to unlock new skills]

[mission : corner or beat george]

[prize : +3 battle points]

James looked at the chart and squinted. He then tried as suggested by the previous system, using his willpower to transfer battle points into aura to unlock new skills.

[Physical : 20 (weak)]

[Aura : 32 (weak)]

[battle points : 0]

*You get a new skill

[Skill : Rising Sun]

Sure enough, James didn't need to speak to operate the chart in front of him. He also smiled faintly, seeing the strangeness that never stopped coming into his life.

"The match will be declared over if one of the opponents is no longer able to continue the fight or one of the parties declares defeat," said one of the Shadow Corps, who had been appointed referee. He continued, "Do you both understand that?" The umpire asked, to which James and George nodded in affirmation that they understood the rule.

"Start!" exclaimed the referee, signaling that the game had begun.

George just remained silent, so James took the initiative to attack first. Armed with the improvised teachings from three hours earlier, James immediately attacked George by enveloping his body in his fire elemental aura, making it look as if he was on fire.

James took advantage of the thrust of the flames like a jet plane, throwing a heavy punch aimed at George's face. Even with the aura that had strengthened his punch, it wasn't enough to make George flinch. Instantly, James jumped back to gain enough distance to strategize. It was not without reason that he immediately jumped back; James felt like his punch was not hitting human flesh and bones, but a very hard concrete wall. If George had counterattacked at that time, it was certain James would have fallen unconscious immediately.

"What's wrong, James? Is that all you're capable of?!" said George, provoking James.

“That's the most I can do, considering I've only been practicing for three hours. But you, you've been training for years and you still don't have the guts to attack first. You're a coward!" jeered James, trying to provoke his opponent back.

"Did you say 'Damn it!'?" Provoked by James' taunts, George immediately lunged at him, forming his hands into two giant fists. Right in front of James, he jumped to deliver a punch. From above the sky descended with a giant hand, gripping and pounding the ground. James almost couldn't avoid the attack because he was blinded by the hot sun.

James tumbled over from the gust of wind created by George's attack. Dust rose high, obscuring the battlefield and limiting visibility. The fight had only just begun and James already felt at a huge disadvantage.

"Damn, so far my abilities are far from those who have been practicing for years," said James to himself as he slowly stood up.

Either because he got angry due to provocation by James, or because George knew that if the match lasted too long it would be dangerous for him, he attacked James blindly, without giving James a second to sigh.

James, who was the first to fight using aura, certainly struggled to keep up with George. When James was getting pressured by George's rock-hard body, he tried to practice a technique he had just learned a few hours ago haphazardly.

James tried not to hold back his aura at all; he just released all his power just like that while concentrating it on his right hand. This is a very inefficient and ineffective method because it wastes energy, but for a beginner, this is the only way James can do it.

When George approached confidently, as if nothing could scratch his body, James threw a punch that hit George square in the chest, sending him flying a few meters and leaving him bleeding.

"Damn it!" exclaimed George, not believing his body could be injured by someone who had only studied auras for three hours. "It's not like you just learned how to use aura!"

"That's right," replied James, suppressing his massive aura. "You can't see how inefficient I am using this method."

Listen to what James said. That of course made George even angrier. Facing James made him feel like an idiot who had kept practicing with insignificant results. As for the person in front of him, he had only practiced for a while and had immediately gotten results that were immediately obvious. As for George, it would take him years to reach that stage.

Everyone who saw James and George fight was filled with various emotions. Some were inspired, curious, and even envious when they witnessed someone who seemed blessed by God with extraordinary fighting abilities.

The fight between the two seemed to attract the sympathy of the masses who favored George. Those who watched James and George's fight apparently didn't like it when George, who diligently practiced every day, lost to someone who had just learned to use aura.

"Come on, George, beat that loser," said a spectator who saw the fight from a distance.

“Teach that newbie a bitter lesson!” shouted another from the audience.

The cheers didn't affect James at all; he had fought too many times in unfavorable conditions. In fact, he often had to risk his life to be able to turn things around and win the battle, even if he was in a very disadvantaged position.

This did not affect James, but it was different for George, who incidentally was a narcissist and liked to be cared for. The cheers that supported him seemed to transform into echoes of war drums, raising his spirits up to the seventh heaven.

Somehow, George, who had an earth elemental aura, suddenly formed a golem. William, who became the master, never knew that George could do that, as all he knew was that George had always focused on self-hardening and physical improvement, so the forms that could be realized were very limited.

"Smash that boy, George!" William shouted.

With all the excitement around him, George quickly launched an attack with the giant hand of his aura golem. There was no way James would be able to block or dodge it, so he quickly jumped aside to avoid the attack.

Despite its large stature, luckily the golem's aura, with George as its core, isn't too fast; it even tends to be slow, so that James can easily avoid its deadly attack.

James was well aware: one attack from that big object and it would end immediately. He didn't have many choices, since he couldn't maximize the ability of his aura. Even though he was now able to use aura, the pressure of fighting Gerald hadn't changed.

In the midst of the stalemate, a scream was heard: “Aim for George, who is the core of the golem, James,” said Scarlet. This made James realize that the weak point of the large object was none other than the controller itself, which was in the chest area.
