CHAPTER 240

The majority of the guests' eyes widened in shock, and some mouths hung open in disbelief at the sight of Luca in his custom-made Givenchy suit. Edmund and Stefano's laughter froze on their lips once they noticed Luca; they just sat there staring at him with a mixture of surprise and confusion. Not that they had expected him to be dead; they knew he wasn't dead, but they expected that since he had escaped the explosion, he would have some bruises or injuries that might prevent him from coming to the wedding.

They couldn't believe he had come and was fully healthy. With the way he walked, flexing his steps and muscles, anyone could tell there were no injuries on his body. The question that lingered in their minds was: where had he been all this time if he was never injured?

Sara's eyes, which had been welling up with tears—even though she had seen him less than twenty-four hours ago—noticed that Luca seemed like a new person and that there was something he was hiding from

CHAPTER 241 The rooms around the hallway erupted into chaos, with gasps, screams, and shouts filling the air. Sara, on the other hand, was equally shocked that Luca could stand up to Jacob like that—to the extent of smacking his face. While she was surprised, she was also happy that he got what he deserved. She watched as Jacob stumbled backward, his hands flying to his cheeks, while Luca stood tall, his chest heaving as if he were waiting for another opportunity to smack him again. Sara's eyes never left Jacob's face; her expression was one of satisfaction. Jacob’s eyes narrowed as he stared at Luca in disbelief. “Did you just slap me?” he asked, still in disbelief. “Do you know what you just did? Do you want to die?” Before Luca could speak, Sara stepped in. “Jacob, that is enough. You pushed it too far this time by trying to taunt us on our wedding grounds. Let it go so we don't make a scene.” Jacob scoffed. “Wow, I see. You really don't want a scene, and your deadbeat of a hus

CHAPTER 242 The Shadow Ops dragged Jacob out of the venue to the dark corners leading to the outskirts of the streets. “Put me down, you fucking animal! Do you know who you're touching?” he snarled, but the men paid him no attention. Instead, the fireman yanked him by the hair, pulling at his scalp, making him wince in pain. He had never been treated with such contempt and disrespect in his entire life. This was his first time experiencing this, and his head slowly began to turn red as he pleaded with arrogance. “I said let me fucking go!” he yelled, trying to pull his scalp away and drag out his brown hair from the well-built Shadow Ops member. Each of the men in the Shadow Ops organization was built differently. They were imposing figures, each exuding an aura of power and control. They were never scared; they always stood tall with broad shoulders and thick, chiseled physiques that seemed carved from years of intense training, staying low-key until they were ready to find their m

CHAPTER 243 “What is it?” Sara slowly stopped what she was doing when she noticed that Luca seemed a little serious. Knowing him, she understood that he was unpredictable, and she didn’t know what to expect from him. He had always been like a shadow—visible but untouchable, with unpredictable moves. He felt almost invincible. She thought back to the last time he had come into her club without anyone knowing; she still couldn’t believe it. Deep down, she had concluded that he was a psycho, not really what he claimed to be. But each time she paid people to dig into his background, they came back with nothing, leaving her with no option but to quit. Sara dropped her earrings and walked to Luca. “What is it?” she asked calmly. He breathed in, wondering if this was the right time to reveal himself to her. He wasn’t sure how she would react. He had kept her in the dark all these months they had been married, but that had helped him see her true character and other parts of her family. Sti

CHAPTER 244 A week later, at the family residence, a blue BMW pulled into the driveway and parked in the designated spot. It was just seven o'clock in the morning, and everyone in the house was having their regular breakfast. At the head of the table sat Grandpa, while the maids served everyone. “How is your health?” Grandpa asked, his eyes narrowing toward Jacob, who was partly covered in bandages. He barely managed to move his hand to eat properly. He sighed silently, bothering to nod since his head wouldn't move. Those men had beaten him to a stupor, but he refused to tell his family what had happened. He couldn’t bring himself to admit that it was the lowly Luca who had ordered his men to beat him up without any remorse. Instead, he lied, saying he had been attacked by thieves on the highway who ended up stealing from him. “My health is good, sir,” he managed to say to Grandpa, who nodded in response. Soon, the meal began, but the tension in the room was palpable. The girls di

She wished she could leap over the table and smack Sara’s face or land a few good slaps across her flawless skin. Everything about Sara just seemed to rile her up, and she suddenly lost her appetite. She picked up her spoon but held it beside her plate. Meanwhile, the whole place was filled with silence. The tension was palpable as everyone’s eyes glazed over at her. Unaware of their furtive gazes, Sara dished herself a small portion of food, careful of what she ate because of her baby. When she raised her gaze, her eyes widened slightly at the sight of everyone staring. “Just a week, and marriage looks so good on you. At this point, as Jacob decided to look down on her husband so much, she felt the urge to spill his secrets to them so they could be humbled quickly. But she restrained herself; she remembered Luca had warned her to keep his identity a secret until he moved her away from home. He would be done with the penthouse soon. It happens to be one with security encoded for their safety. Sara swallowed hard, dropping her spoon, and narrowed her eyes at Jacob. You don’t need to be so protective; I’m fine.” The man stood down, nodding his head in response, while Luca entered the hotel where his team was already waiting for him. He had called them earlier about meeting up after his sudden disappearance. In the days following his honeymoon, he had been busy signing documents related to his family conglomerates that Edmund thought he had a handle on. This is one of their first sets of drinks they want to push into the liquor market.” Luca raised his glass, glancing at the color before gulping down another sip. He admired the drink in the glass again, unable to get enough of it. It tasted so unique compared to the exotic wines they usually had whenever they gathered. “Did you come here alone?” George asked after he finished drinking and noticed no one had accompanied Luca. “Oh yes, I did. Why do you ask?” Luca replied, raising his gaze to George. “What about the Shadow Ops?” George inquired, intrigued. He was sure they were supposed to be with him.
