In the Edward family Residence. 7:37pm.. Sara was seated at the dining table with other family members. It was only twenty-four hours before her wedding, and the groom was still not found. She picked at her food bit by bit; deep down, she didn't really have an appetite to eat, but missing a meal would only show how bothered she was about Luca not being there. Jacob and the others took turns glancing at her, each of them noticing how pale her face looked while she ate and how she could barely swallow the food. Jacob suddenly cleared his throat and said, “We can cancel the wedding and stop hoping if you want to.” Sara raised her gaze and forced a smile. “Well, thank you for the suggestion, but I’m not interested.” Jacob's eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed at Sara, his expression a mixture of concern and subtle mockery. “Oh, come on, Sara,” he said, his voice dripping with false sympathy. “Don’t be stubborn. It’s clear that Luca’s not interested in showing up. You're just embarras
“Where have you been?” she asked, holding him tightly. Her eyes sparkled with unadulterated happiness as she embraced him. Luca smiled. “I’m sorry; I should have told you before leaving.” He kissed her forehead. “How is everything going for the wedding?” She frowned. “You asked them to take care of it all, so I don’t know what they have done and what they haven’t.” Luca nodded. “I almost forgot I did. So how have you been since I left?” She rolled her eyes. “Please don’t ask. I thought you…” “Run away because I can’t afford it, right?” He laughed. “Ah, my lovely bride-to-be,” Luca said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “I see you’re still as organized as ever. Or should I say, as unorganized?” He chuckled, teasing her gently. Sara playfully hit him on the arm. “Hey, I’m just trying to enjoy the ride. You’re the one who wanted to take care of all the details while being invincible!” “Yes, well, I may have taken care of the details, but I didn’t say I was going to tell you abo
At Giovanni's residence.A knock sounded outside, and the door slowly opened to reveal his head chef.“Good morning, sir,” she greeted politely. “Sir, you have a call from the boys.”Giovanni raised his head and sighed. “Why are they calling me this early? What happened? Can't I just catch a break from those silly boys?”The chef smirked as she moved forward to pass the phone to him. Once she did, she took a few steps away so she wouldn't eavesdrop on her boss's conversation.Giovanni took the phone and said nonchalantly, “What the hell are y'all calling me for now? What is it this early in the morning?”From the other end, one of the boys hesitated before speaking up. “Sir, sir, boss, we have a problem…” His voice was shaky and breaking. Gio quickly sat up from his seat; he hadn't heard his boys sound that way, so he concluded it must be something very important.“What is it? Talk to me! What the hell is making your voice sound this way?” he yelled angrily as the boy stuttered and st
CHAPTER The guard kept coming closer and closer. I slowly closed my eyes, and she ordered them to stop.“Taylor, do you have anything to say to me just yet?”I raised my gaze to her and smiled. “Well, Mom, I have nothing to say to you, but you need to know that tormenting me this way, you're only burning bridges!”She burst out laughing. “Burning bridges? Burning bridges by dealing with you? You keep elevating yourself, and it baffles me sometimes!”I looked at her face; she was slightly confused and shocked at the same time. I knew instantly that this was the time—she either gets into my head, or I get into hers!I smiled sweetly, my eyes locked on hers. “Oh, Mother, you're so predictable. You think you're the only one who can play games? I've been playing this game since I was a child, and I've gotten quite good at it. If you make me feel pain, you have burned down a bridge that has been shielding you for two decades now.”I leaned forward, my voice taking on a conspiratorial tone.

Sara sat in her office. She was sitting on the couch in front of a scattered wad of cash. For the past six hours, she had been recounting all of her money to be sure those who broke into her office yesterday didn't leave with any of it. Her eyes were fixed on the cash as she piled it up together. Each one she piled up, she passed it down to Ken, who was using the counting machine to count the money. The door suddenly opened, and an ebony, tall, muscular man walked inside. He had an envelope with him as he walked in."Madam!" His deep voice rang out in the solitude of the place. "I have news for you," he announced.Sara didn't lose focus on the money she was counting. She asked, "What is it, Williams?"Williams walked forward and placed the file he was holding on top of the wad of scattered cash she was still counting."What is this, Williams?" She turned around and looked at him. "What is this all about?"His lips curled into a smile. "Why not you just check it out yourself? It's righ
CHAPTER 236.Fatherly talk. Her dad slowly joined her on the couch, his face etched with concern. “What do you mean Luca is missing? Isn't the wedding supposed to be in less than 48 hours?”Sara's eyes started to grow wet; she wiped them away and answered, “Yes, sir. He has been missing for two days now. I didn't want to bother you with it, but the wedding date is drawing near.”Her dad scoffed, trying to understand what his daughter was trying to say. “If he is missing, then why is the wedding still being held? How do you plan to do it, Sara?”“I just don't know!” she cried out. “I don't know, Dad, and I'm pregnant with him! I need to get married, or Grandma will pull me out of vying to be the CEO of the empire.”Her father moved to hug her, but his eyes caught a glimpse of the sketch on the paper. He stopped and took the paper from her. “What is this?”Sara breathed in. “I don't know; I was just trying to sketch out the men who came to me when I was at the hospital earlier today. The
At the Edward family mansion..Back at the Edward family house, it was exactly 6:56 pm when Luca joined the ongoing dinner table in the dining room. Everyone was present, with Jacob and his mother inclusive. It was just one person missing that everyone was waiting for.A couple of minutes later, the door swung open and about three maids helped Madam Ivy to the dining table. One of the maids wrapped her hands around Madam Ivy's waist, and the other one had her hands over her shoulders as a wedge. They pulled the chair out and helped her to settle down into it. Meanwhile, as they helped her slowly to the chair, Luca, who had seen her current condition, couldn't help but stifle his laughter, but then it was too late, and his smirk caught everyone's attention except Grandpa, who had his head downwards.Once Sara noticed the smirk on his face, it flashed back into her memory... he has another family! Her face paled up immediately, and she clenched her hands, crumpling her dress under the t
