Leonard headed to the bathroom, planting a soft knock on the door. “Are you in there, Matilda?” Silence. He opened the door which revealed the textured glass of the bathroom, and it was only when he looked at the glass he noticed he was naked as the day he was born. Only his reflection stared back at him. Matilda wasn’t anywhere to be found. Where did she go? Was she in his room? Or could it be…? His heart stirred at the thought and he swallowed hard. It couldn’t be. She couldn't be doing the same thing she did the last time. At least, not after their beautiful moment together last night. Besides, she’d taken charge at some point. It couldn't have been the alcohol. She was just as into it as he was. He raked his hand through his dishevelled hair and let out a deep growl. This couldn’t be happening. He looked into her wardrobe, and when he found that her things were still intact, a sigh escaped his lips.At least, she hadn’t gone back to the States. He had that to be grateful for.
Matilda let out a deep breath as soon as she walked out of Leonard 's office. She took more deep breath calming her heart which was still racing. It was a good thing Leonard didn't push further. What was her mother thinking? For a moment, she thought she'd kiss the deal goodbye, her job also. She'd have to stop taking her mom's call in the company if she still wanted to be on Leonard 's good side. She made her way to her office, taking her mind of her mother and focusing instead on the remaining task of the day, making the documents for the board meeting scheduled to hold the following week her top priority. She prepared Leonard 's copy of the document as well as that of the other associates. Leonard would need to approve it and she'd also have to make them ready for the associates at least three day before the meeting. “Matilda, you don't take a break do you?” Evans, the newest employee in F and A approached her, leaning against her desk. She worked under the personal department, b
She was going to Bali in a few hours? What? What the hell was wrong with Herbert? Matilda slumped on her desk, still stunned with the turn out of event, her mouth agape. He was doing it for the umpteenth time— making decisions that affected her without caring a damn about her opinion. How dare he? How unfeeling could he get? Being his executive assistant and suddenly becoming a co-leader was overwhelming already. Why does he always have to make everything difficult?Of course, there was no doubt that they needed to act fast to prevent their rival company from having the win. More than anything, she'd love to see F and A at the top of the game. Wasn't that why she'd been in the company all along? But, Leonard always complicated everything! The least he could have done was ask for her opinion on this, instead of shoving his right in her face without question. So much for being a co-leader in this project. It was crystal clear, Leonard doesn't care about anyone. This was the same thin
The trip to Bali was faster than usual, at least, in comparison to the actual distance, since Matilda hadn't ever been there. She breathed a deep sigh the moment they landed, an indication of the end of her misery, or so she thought. The trip was far from what she envisioned, with Leonard a few inches from her, watching her every move. She'd been far from comfortable all through the trip, and now that she stepped out of the jet, she breathed in the first air of Bali with a smile lining her face. "What are you doing, Matilda? The bags sure as hell won't get themselves." Leonard who was clearly irritated, snapped, looking from Matilda to his jet. "Right away, sir," she mumbled, strutting away to grab his suitcases, boxes and other bags. Leonard watched her scurry off and she returned moments later, her petite body almost sinking with the weight of the loads in her hands and chest, as she struggled to maintain her balance. Leonard stood there, watching as beads of sweat form on her scr
“Yes, why are you looking for me?” Leonardasked the police who had come searching his house with a warrant.“We had a complaint of a young lady named Matilda being held here without her will. We received this complaint this morning from her father and we had to come check. Please, is there anybody with that name here?” The police asked.“Yes Matilda is here, but she's not been held here. Matilda is my wife and we got married legally.” He said, while surprised by the effrontery of the father to go and report him after everything he did to Matilda.“Please call out your wife so we can take her statement.” The policeman said.Richardson, while angry and feeling violated by Matilda's father, walks to the room to get Matilda but he keeps on knocking and no one is opening. He unlocked the door but it was locked from the inside. Leonardkicked the door down and he walked into the room but to his surprise, Matilda was nowhere to be found in his room.“Grandma! Grandma!!” He called out to her,
“Take and eat, the day of reckoning is ahead, you need strength.” The abductor says to Matilda. “What have I done to deserve this from you? I barely know you and I don't know why you're keeping me here. It's been three days and I'm living like a rat in your dungeon. What exactly do you want from me?” She says, sobbing.Laughing, “Eat your food, I told you, you need strength when everything unfolds you'll understand why I needed you.” He said, as he pushed her food to her and left the room.“The day of reckoning?” She asks herself thinking about what exactly she has had to anyone, she has always been gentle and she doesn't even fight or get on the bad side of anyone. Her life was meant to be perfect but here it is living like her rat the night when her marriage was hitting its peak.*** “Have you seen her anywhere near here?” Leonardasks, showing Matilda's picture to a lady walking by “Please if you see her contact this number, thank you. He says handing out the flier. He was exhauste
“Wah! Wah! Wah!” The sound of the ambulance wailing filled the air, as the police, hospital attendants, and spectators surrounded the villa.“Matilda! Matilda!!” Mrs. Vera sobs as Matilda is rolled on a stretcher into the ambulance. Leonardpicks up his grandmother and brings her to the car. “Grandma please go in.” He says, as he takes a last look at Jack who has been handcuffed by the police and taken into their vehicle. “What exactly happened? Who is he? Why did he shoot Matilda? Why aren't you saying anything to me?” Mrs. Vera asks Richardson. But He maintained a strict face not giving his grandmother any reply as he drove off to the hospital with his grandmother. Matilda is rushed to the operation theater to remove the bullet. Mrs. Vera rushes in with the ambulance but she's restricted to the reception, while Leonardstays at the door looking sober and confused.“ Doctor, how's she doing now?” Mrs. Vera asks as the doctor comes out of the theater.“She's well but still unconscious.
CHAPTER 58NOT AWAREThe students were drowned in their gossip and could not believe what they just heard."How is it even possible that Leonardis a VIP student?""Everyone on campus knows him. He can't even afford three square meals." Their words were loud enough for Leonardto hear but none of that mattered to him.Everyone had the right to believe what they wanted to believe. All he wanted now was to have his revenge and fulfill the task that he had been given to do.Moving closer towards Mrs. Idris, he shot a glance at her as it gradually moved back to the students."And as much as I can observe. That is very much true. What do you have to say about it?" He inquired, waiting for a response.Thoughts ran through her mind knowing too well that she was in a really difficult situation. Her hands were clenched with so much anger. "Leonard. I am going to make sure you pay for it." She growled under her breath. Her anger was soon replaced with a forced smile as she turned towards Mr. Max
