Chapter 57

“Wah! Wah! Wah!” The sound of the ambulance wailing filled the air, as the police, hospital attendants, and spectators surrounded the villa.

“Matilda! Matilda!!” Mrs. Vera sobs as Matilda is rolled on a stretcher into the ambulance. Leonardpicks up his grandmother and brings her to the car. “Grandma please go in.” He says, as he takes a last look at Jack who has been handcuffed by the police and taken into their vehicle. “What exactly happened? Who is he? Why did he shoot Matilda? Why aren't you saying anything to me?” Mrs. Vera asks Richardson. But He maintained a strict face not giving his grandmother any reply as he drove off to the hospital with his grandmother.

Matilda is rushed to the operation theater to remove the bullet. Mrs. Vera rushes in with the ambulance but she's restricted to the reception, while Leonardstays at the door looking sober and confused.

“ Doctor, how's she doing now?” Mrs. Vera asks as the doctor comes out of the theater.

“She's well but still unconscious.
