Opening the mahogany wooden door, ris met by the impassive face of Donald Douglas.

His countenance wasn't bright and encouraging as though he was a portrait drained of its vibrant colors, replaced instead by a somber shades of gray.

His eyes usually filled with warmth laughter, now mirrored solemnity of a stormy sky, void of their usual sparkle.

The line etched on his face told a silent story of worry and burden, a stark contrast to the usual jovial line formed by laughter and joy.

Iris felt a pang in her chest, seeing that the person loved so much cloaked in an unusual shroud of solemnity.

Gazing into her eyes, Donald Douglas noticed she had been crying.

His eyebrows furrowed in bewilderment as he closed the door and asked, "Iris your eyes are red, have you been crying since you came back from work?" His voice laced with concern and care for his wife.
