Reginald’s heart pounding loudly. This was his moment to shine because this will go a long way to help his reputation and life.
He adjusted his suit quickly, puffed out his chest, and forced a confident smile onto his face.
“Elara Vasquez!” he said with a practiced chuckle. “What an unexpected honor. We’re all truly blessed to have you here.”
Then he turned to the crowd with an exaggerated sweep of his hand, his smile widening with every word.
“You see? Didn’t I tell you all? Elara and I go way back. She'd graced my wedding.”
The reaction was instant. Gasps. Whispers.
“Holy shit. Reginald wasn’t lying?”
“Elara Vasquez? At his wedding?”
“No way... He actually pulled it off?”
“I thought he was bluffing. But damn... this guy’s connected.”
“Forget everything I said...he’s the real deal.”
Vivian practically glowed. She held her head high and nudged Sage in the ribs.
“See that? I told you Astrid made the right choice. This is what it means to marry into power. We're going to be rich.”
Astrid broke free from the soldiers restraining her, standing tall with a proud, defiant posture. She straightened her shoulders, lips curling into a proud little smile. Her eyes gleamed with satisfaction, her friends will worship her now.
Reginald took a step forward.
The smugness in his voice was unmistakable.
“Elara,” he said, turning back to her, “I need your help today.”
He lifted a hand and pointed straight at Kai.
“That man. He crashed our wedding. Humiliated our family. Hit Sage, insulted my fiancée, and attacked my mother-in-law.”
He shook his head dramatically.
“He’s delusional. Obsessed with Astrid. And worse, he did all this under your roof. I knew you’d want to deal with this personally.”
Astrid let out a dramatic sigh and stepped forward too.
“Elara… I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I had the guards draw their guns because I was scared. Kai has been unstable ever since I left him. I tried to move on, but he just won’t let me. The love sick man follows me everywhere I go and now he's here on your property and causing trouble.”
She lowered her eyes, voice trembling with well-practiced emotion.
“We only wanted a peaceful wedding.”
"Yeah, that's right," one guest spat, "He walked in here like a damn beggar, beating the bride’s family up!"
Another added, "Honestly, Astrid's family is way too soft. People like him should have their hands and legs broken and tossed out like trash!"
"Yeah, he needs to pay for what he’s done," more guests joined in, their voices full of venom.
Reginald grinned smugly, his arrogance oozing out. He turned to Elara with false humility, "If you could just teach this piece of shit a lesson he'll never forget, I'd be forever grateful."
All eyes turned expectantly to Elara. With her tight-knit relationship with Reginald, everyone knew the next act was sure to be something to watch.
But Elara remained still. Her cold, dangerous gaze swept over the room, causing a ripple of unease among the guests. Her eyes finally landed on a nondescript corner—Kai. Her expression shifted, eyes suddenly gleaming with recognition.
"Master," Elara’s voice was full of reverence as she bowed deeply before Kai, sending shockwaves through the crowd. The armed soldiers she led followed suit, their synchronized salute echoing loudly, “Master,” their voices ringing through the hall, sharp and crisp, like an icy blast that froze the blood of every person present.
The temperature seemed to plummet, and the room fell into an eerie silence, suffocating with fear.
Reginald’s face turned pale, disbelief flickering in his eyes. "Elara, there must be some mistake..."
Before he could finish, a cold, hard spear was pressed to his temple.
"Shut up if you want to live," Elara growled, her eyes locked on Reginald with pure menace. Her gaze then swept over the trembling crowd, her voice growing colder with every word.
"Master, I can’t stand these lowly vermin insulting you like this."
"Please, give me your orders on how to deal with this trash."
The banquet hall fell into a deathly silence. But the sound of muffled, fearful tremors could still be heard, as the guests realized the truth: it was over!
They were all at Kai’s mercy now!
The power of life and death was in his hands!

“This girl really doesn’t know when to shut up.”Elara's expression darkened as she narrowed her eyes, clearly seeing that Astrid had learned nothing from the lesson.“Eliza,” she snapped without looking back, “slap some damn sense into her.” The tall, athletic woman behind Elara cracked her knuckles and stepped forward. No hesitation. No words. Astrid opened her mouth, still panting from rage. SLAP! The first hit landed with a crack. Her head jerked violently to the side. Another. Blood sprayed from her lip. Abigail's eyes lingered on Kai, scanning him with quiet suspicion. He didn’t look powerful. He didn’t dress like a man the city feared. He didn’t carry himself like someone who just brought the most powerful wedding in Dominus City to its knees. But Elara had bowed to him. And no one...not even Reginald's so-called elite friends...dared question it. She tilted her head slightly. "Who are you, really?" Kai chuckled lightly. Not mockingly. . .just tired amusement. "Just a guy who won a bet." Abigail raised a brow. "That’s it? You’re telling me Elara Vasquez...Dominus City’s coldest queen...bowed to you... because of a bet?" Kai shrugged. "She lost. She owed me one.""Exactly," Elara said, stepping forward smoothly. Her expression was unreadable, calm. "It was a joke. A small act. We like messing with people sometimes. No need to take it seriously." "I see. That... makes more sense." She looked relieved, but her gaze still lingered a moment too long on Kai. "Well", she

The night air was gentle and warm. Kai stepped out of the black sedan, adjusting his cuffs as the headlights cut through the entrance of the towering banquet hall. Marble steps stretched before him, flanked by flaming braziers and guards in tailored suits. Things were moving fast. Too fast. The guards closed in on Kai, snarling, just as a voice cut through the tension. “Enough.” Everyone turned. Found Morgan West was moving towards them. Impeccably dressed in black and silver, the tycoon’s presence alone forced the guards to halt. His sharp gaze swept over the chaos. “Leonard Vale,” Morgan said coolly, stepping forward. “You bring your dogs here to start a fight… on this night?” Leonard stiffened. “Morgan West… this is none of your damn business.” Morgan ignored the tone. “Do you even understand where you are?” His voice grew louder. “This isn’t your backyard. This isn’t your factory gate. This is a banquet held under the name of Atlas Blackwood.” The air tightened. Morgan stepped closer. “Men like us are lucky to even be here. The Laurent residence was soaked in silence, save for the occasional groan of pain, frustration and anger. Astrid collapsed on the couch, her face swollen, her hair tangled. Kai's eyes flashed open. A harsh, sterile light seared his vision, and a jolt of pain arched through his body. His muscles screamed with fatigue, each breath a reminder of what he’d unleashed back at the club. His bones felt too heavy, his skin too tight. He wasn’t just tired, he was drained. Everything ached. Especially his head… and more strangely, his right eye. It throbbed deep in its socket, pulsing like it had a life of its own. He winced and groaned softly trying to figure out just what was wrong with him. “Kaiden?” Abigail’s voice called beside him, sharp with worry. She had been sitting by his bedside the entire time and instantly leaned closer. “You’re awake! Are you okay? Should I call the doctor?” He shook his head weakly, his voice low and cracked. “No… I’m fine.” That was a lie. He felt like death warmed over and all he wanted to do was lose consciousness again so all the pain would go away. But seeing the concern on her face, he didn’t have the heart to add

Abigail was trembling, panic bursting in her chest as she stared at the chaos. She couldn’t stop crying, couldn’t stop screaming his name. “Kai...please! Please stop! You’ll kill them!” But he wasn’t listening. He couldn’t. Kai stood in front of the crumpled bodies of Conrad and Reginald, his fists soaked in blood, his chest rising and falling like a caged beast. His entire body radiated heat...violent, unstable heat. His veins glowed faintly under his skin, and the air around him was vibrating. She could see it. Feel it. The burn in her palm still stung. He was gone. Whatever part of him was still human… was buried under the madness. Kai could hear her...her sobs, her pleas but it was distant, like echoes inside a dark tunnel. The bloodlust, the pain, the humiliation they had caused... it surged through him, adding fuel to a fire that refused to burn out. Conrad whimpered, barely conscious, his hand dragging feebly on the floor. Reginald was slumped against the wall, nose br

Something was wrong. Her throat was dry like sandpaper, and the heat crawling under her skin wasn’t natural. She struggled to sit up, but her body refused to obey. Across the room, laughter. Conrad Lin. He wasn’t drunk. He wasn’t high. He was waiting. Her family had collapsed one by one, slumped over the table or against plush leather couches, unconscious from the drug-laced wine he had poured with fake smiles and false sincerity. Abigail had taken only a few sips, but it was enough to dull her defenses. Now she was cornered. Conrad stood in front of her, tie loose, breath heavy. The grin on his face wasn’t amused anymore. It was hungry. "Tch," he clicked his tongue, looking over the passed-out bodies. "Useless lot. Wasn't after them anyway." He turned to Abigail. She tried to cra
23: The Invitation That Reeked
After stepping out of the Luricor building, Kaiden Blackwood glanced sideways at Abigail Alfred. She looked more relaxed now, her cheeks flushed with victory. For the first time all day, she smiled without tension and he was glad he was able to help her. “I owe you a meal,” Kai said, hands tucked into his pockets, his voice low, "A congratulatory meal." Abigail smiled and opened her mouth to answer but just then, her phone buzzed. She frowned. “My mom.” Kai nodded for her to pick up. “Hello?” Abigail answered. On the other end, her mother’s voice was unusually sweet. Too sweet. “Hello my darling, sorry I'm disturbing but it's really urgent, so Conrad Lin wants to apologize. He invited us to dinner tonight and we have very little time to get ready, please head home soon.” Abigail blinked. “Conrad?” “Yes,” her mother continued. “He even asked your Aunt Matilda to mediate. You know how awkward it’d be if we refused. He says it’s just a simple dinner. No drama.” Abigail’s jaw cl

The Luricor lobby was a full-blown circus. Reginald was still shouting like a madman, jabbing his finger toward Abigail and Kai. “They bribed him! That’s how they stole my project!” he roared. “This is slander! I worked for that deal!” People gathered, murmurs swelling. “Isn’t that the guy from the wedding scandal?” “Same one. The fiancée who got beat up and the fake gift drama...” “Now he’s crying corruption? The irony’s too much.” As the whispers grew louder, the elevator dinged. The noise dropped instantly. Thane Jackson stepped out, surrounded by assistants and two suited security guards. His expression was cold, razor-sharp, like a man used to cutting heads without lifting a blade. The moment he saw the scene, he didn’t even blink. “Call the police,” he told the secretary beside him. “Now.” Reginald’s roar died in his throat. Thane pointed straight at him. “I just got the internal report. Reginald Thompson. It was your company that conspired with Conrad Lin for an ill

Reginald had been restless all morning. Ever since the wedding fiasco, his mood had been foul, his calls unreturned, and his ego bruised. Still convinced that Kaiden was just a lucky bastard who happened to win a bet, Reginald wasn’t too worried. But there was one name that haunted him, Elara Vasquez. If she really was close to that loser, and if she truly meant the things she said that day... he could be in trouble. He had to confirm something. “Get dressed,” he told Astrid sharply, tossing her a purse. Astrid frowned. “Where are we going?” “To Luricor. I need to see Conrad. If he’s still working there, that means the cooperation is safe.” “But you’ve been calling him for hours...” “And I’m done waiting,” Reginald snapped. Soon, they arrived at the sleek glass building of Luricor, one of the Gyrix Group’s most important subsidiaries. Inside the lobby, Reginald marched up to the front desk, dragging Astrid behind him like a disheveled accessory. “We’re here to see Conrad.”

The living room had never been so quiet. The only sound was the occasional buzz of disbelief flickering through the minds of Abigail’s family as they stared at her phone screen. The number sat there, bold, undeniable. 500 million yuan. Abigail’s hand trembled slightly. “It’s real,” she whispered again, mostly to herself. “It’s... real.” Her mother gasped and dropped to her knees beside her daughter, tears welling in her eyes. “Thank you,” she said to Kai, her voice cracking. “Thank you, young man. I don’t know what miracle brought you here, but... thank you.” Her father stood, walked to Kai, and held his hand tightly with both of his own. “You’ve saved this family. I don’t know what we did to deserve this grace... but we will never forget it.” Kai gave a half-smile, his expression calm, unbothered, as if dropping half a million was a daily routine. 19: The Bet.
Kai stepped into the lavish Alfred estate, escorted by two grim-faced servants. He kept his posture relaxed, dressed in a plain black shirt and sneakers, yet his calm energy filled the space before he even reached the main sitting room. Abigail rushed to meet him halfway, her eyes betraying more nerves than she wanted to admit. She grabbed his arm, gripping tightly not too forcefully, but enough to say don’t mess this up. The family seated in the spacious parlor looked up as one. Some eyes narrowed. Others lit with curiosity. But as soon as they saw what Kai was wearing, the air chilled, they barely replied to Kai’s greeting. “So this is the boyfriend?” Aunt Matilda scoffed, folding her arms and looking at Kai with hatred that could burn, “He looks like he just walked out of a student hostel.” Conrad, clad in designer wear and reeking of smugness stood and gave Kai a disdainful once-over. “Not much to look at. Abigail, are you really this desperate? What do you see in such thin
