Chapter Eighty-seven

The room echoed with the sounds of grunts and the clashing of metal against metal as Sophia and Angela sparred.

Sweat glistened on their foreheads, mingling with the determination that fueled their movements.

"Fuck," Sophia cussed as she narrowly dodged Angela's strike, her breath coming in short gasps.

Sophia grunted as she blocked Angela's punch with her forearm. She felt a surge of pain in her lower back and winced.

She knew she was pushing herself too hard, but she didn't care. She had to be ready for the conclave. She was also the target of Ella, the crazy bitch that wanted to eliminate her and her unborn child.

"Easy yourself," Angela said, lowering her guard. She was Sophia's best friend and bodyguard, a former soldier who had joined the Black Rose after saving Sophia's life.

She was also one of the few people who knew about Sophia's pregnancy. "You're almost nine months pregnant, I can't exactly fight with you like it's life or death."
