Chapter Thirteen

Sophia felt a wave of dizziness as she stood up from the table. She had just finished dinner with Paul,

But something was wrong. She felt lightheaded and nauseous as if she had drunk too much.

But she had only had one glass of wine, and she was usually good at holding her liquor. She wondered if the food had been bad, or if she had caught a bug.

She looked at Paul, who was smiling at her. He took her hand and led her to the exit. He paid the bill and thanked the waiter. He seemed oblivious to her discomfort.

"Did you enjoy the dinner?" he asked.

"Yes, it was lovely. Thank you," Sophia said, trying to sound polite.

"I'm glad. You're very welcome. You know, you're even more beautiful tonight," he said, leaning closer to her.

Sophia felt his breath on her ear and shivered. She didn't like the way Paul was touching her. Neither did she didn't like the way he was looking at her.
