In one of the poorest areas near the outskirts of the city, Charles Chen arrived in front of a building. The people outside looked at him curiously, wondering what a person like him was doing in an area like this. The area was home to the poorest people in the city. Most of them didn't have any work and lived their lives by stealing or doing dirty work for others. It was the way of living there. Only the strongest got to live decently, and the weak lived like animals, begging and fending for their lives.

"Where is he?" Charles asked his men, curious about the whereabouts of the person he was looking for.

"They said he lives on top of that building." His men pointed at one of the decent buildings in the area. It was one of the few buildings that was not run down and was still standing firmly. Most of the buildings in the area were on the point of collapsing.

"Hmm, let's go then." Charles followed his men, along with a few bodyguards, as the area was not a safe place for someone like

"Please, what drugs? You men are men, they love women. Women who know how to give them pleasure." Yun Chen replied, pointing out that Charles' men were lusting for women and he had nothing to do with them. "Forget them, what do you want?" Charles continues to express his anger towards the man and with the situation. Because his men let their guards down, it was likely they were digging their own graves already. "Ah, there you are dear." Yun Chen, said as he kissed the girl, who was seated on the bar table. Charles looked at the girl confusedly. The fact that she was the one who told him of the man's whereabouts. "This is my daughter. She is my adopted daughter. Isn't she beautiful?" Yun Chen proudly spoke about the girl's beauty and charm that any man would fall in love with her. "You see, I cherish her so dearly. She has been my pride and joy. I won't just anyone have her you know." "What do you want?" Charles could already sense what his uncle's intentions were. Despite that, he

At the same time, Victor received news of what Charles had been up to. However, he was unsure of what was happening as the area was out of their reach. The area was owned by a gang leader with whom he had no connection whatsoever. "VICTOR!" Lucas came running, waving the files he had just received and reviewed with such a horrid expression. Without even the need for Lucas to explain, Victor quickly got up from his seat, looking frightening as he ordered Edward. "Get the plane ready; we're going home." "Yes?" Edward was shocked by the man's order. He didn't expect they'd be heading home. After all their efforts, will everything go down the drain? "What are you still doing? Go get the plane ready!" Lucas grabbed Edward out of the room as he knew the man would need some time to himself. They just received horrible news, and now everything Victor had worked hard for would be gone. As soon as Victor was left all alone in the room, he tossed everything around, smashing fragile items int

On the plane: Edward stayed away from the man and said nothing at all. Since they arrived at the airport, the man had been emitting such a frightening aura, ready to kill anyone. Even the bodyguards with them stayed away and watched quietly from a distance. "Sir, what should we do?" One of the guards asked Edward, fearing they might die before evening arrived. "Calm down, he won't do anything to you. We're on the plane." Edward comforted them, knowing the man would usually beat those around him when he got frustrated. He got this mannerism from Nike, who would normally beat his brother. The man grew up under the two's guidance. "What are you guys...?" Victor got up and went to the back to check what everyone was doing.None of them said a word and even averted their gaze away from the man. It was Edward who had the guts to say something. "Nothing, we were just discussing what we should do once we get there." Victor didn't bother to say a word; he only went back to his seat and co

Inside the company board meeting room: Everyone was anxious as they awaited the return of the chairman. The man who had put the company back on top after he took over. While some were worried about betraying the person while he was away, others were excited for his return. Among those who were eager were Old Jackson, Lady Winston, and of course, KO, who was the current president. However, the three were also worried because the man who had gained power out of nowhere was seated amongst them, smiling as if he had done nothing wrong. "It seems the chairman is late?" "Please, Mr. Cross, it hasn't even been an hour." KO replied, frowning at him for voicing something unnecessary. Max Cross, the sudden next highest shareholder after Victor, currently held more than 45 percent of the shares. KO and Nicholas held at least 10 percent each. James, who was the second-highest before Max, held 13 percent. But now, Max had bought some of the shareholders' shares out of nowhere and brought his to

As Victor made his way inside the room, everyone looked at him as if they were seeing a living ghost. They did not expect the man to suddenly come back at all. The fact that the man left the company to KO all of a sudden without giving them any explanation was the reason why they took the initiative to do whatever they wanted. However, now that they saw the man right in front of them, they felt like everything was strange from the beginning. They looked at each other and wondered if they had fallen into the man's trap. Was everything his plan all along? "Chairman, you're back?" "It's good to see you again, Sir." "That's right, we didn't expect you to be here." "I can see that." Victor gazed at them indifferently and coldly as most of them were already making their way to the door. He didn't expect the people who obediently followed him like puppies would soon bite him back. Those who were standing up and making their way out looked at each other dumbfounded and embarrassed. They c

"Sir, we know nothing about this?" "That's right, you can't just blame it on us." "The president was in charge of the company while you were away; she should have better knowledge of this." The meeting had been going on for hours. Each individual had been pointing fingers at KO, who was the president of the company. Despite all the evidence of misused funds, leaking of information, and photos of them using company resources for their own benefits right in front of them, they continued to act innocent and shift the blame to the person in charge. KO looked at them like idiots barking constantly at her but said nothing. She was used to such an atmosphere; it was not new to her at all. However, it was the first time she was so quiet and didn't bark back at them. Victor said not a word either. He only asked KO's assistant to hand over the file he had prepared earlier to be presented to them. As each file kept coming one after another, their faces turned uglier with every piece of evide

After the meeting, Director Lloyd rushed his way out of the company. He needed to find a way out of the mess he was in. But, how? All the evidence showed that he was guilty, and the man would be after his head anytime. As he made his way on the street, he noticed a strange man looking at him. He wondered who the person could be assigned to. Was he James's man or the chairman's? He noticed the man was prompting him to follow him. He looked around to see if there were other people following him and noticed none. So, he took the chance to follow the man. In the back alley, Director Lloyd became anxious as he continued to follow the man. As they reached the end, he noticed that there was another person waiting for him as well. "What do you want?" He directly asked annoyedly, as he realized the men in front were James's men. "Director Lloyd, it seems your time has come." "YOU?" Director turned to his back to run away, but his exit route was covered by more men. He looked around and rea

"Director Lloyd, how can I help you?" Victor didn't hesitate to answer the call. He had already predicted the man would dare call him. "Ah, my boy, I'm having a small gathering at my place. My wife heard that you have come back, and she cooked a small meal for you." Director Lloyd was all shaken as he spoke on the phone. He was worried that he might get caught for lying. He didn't dare invite the man personally, as he feared Victor would notice his plan. "A party?" Victor paused for a moment, which caused the man on the other end to be on mute as well. He knew how anxious the man was as he wasn't saying a word at all. A minute passed by, and Victor still hadn't said anything. Director Lloyd was at his peak of anxiety and anxiously made a sound. "Si-Sir?" "Ah, dinner would do then." Victor replied while tapping his finger on his desk. "What?" Director Lloyd didn't expect the man to agree at all. To his surprise, he ended up shouting over the phone and quickly calmed himself down.

"What do you mean Megan escaped?" Antonia's voice trembled with shock as the news hit her over the phone. Since the enigmatic man had visited her under the shroud of night, he had kept sporadic contact, communicating with her from time to time. "Your devoted boyfriend is on a frantic search for her. However, I've received word that James isn't putting any effort into finding Megan and has vanished," the voice on the other end relayed coolly. "Vanished? Could it be..." Antonia's thoughts raced, connecting the dots that led to a disturbing conclusion. "Indeed, his brother has been released at last." "Impossible! Where did he procure the funds?" Antonia's disbelief was palpable. "Think deeply, Antonia. Who possesses such resources?" The caller's words struck Antonia like a revelation. "Impossible," she muttered, struggling to absorb the implications. To fathom that Victor had fallen into James' clutches was a bitter pill to swallow. "He settled the entire debt – a colossal sum." Lucas, quick on his feet, approached one of the servants and grabbed him with a mixture of worry and urgency. His expression was stern as he demanded answers. "Where is James?" The servant's panicked gaze shifted between the group before him. "We don't know." Frustration etched into his features, Lucas persisted, his grip tightening on the servant's collar. "What happened here?" The servant pointed a shaky finger towards the fire. "That girl, it's all her fault." Victor's patience waned, and he intervened, yanking the servant away from Lucas and gripping his collar firmly. "Explain what you mean by 'that girl.'"

"You're right, James," she said, her voice steady and calm, "we both have something that matters to the other. But remember, you underestimate the power of a person's will to protect their loved ones." James's smile faltered for a brief moment before he regained his composure. "You may have the upper hand for now, but you can't keep your guard up forever," she replied, a spark of defiance in her eyes. James chuckled softly, seemingly entertained by her audacity. Their eyes locked in a battle of wills and determination. Victor's gaze was unwavering, his resolve strengthened by the thought of saving Megan from this ordeal. James, on the other hand, wore a malicious grin, trying to unnerve his adversary. "So, Aug, you finally made it," James sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. "I must say, I expected more from you." Victor's jaw tightened, but he refused to let James's words get to him. He knew the man was trying to play mind games, to break his composure. But he wouldn't fall for it. "I'm here to put an end to this," Victor replied, his voice steady and firm. "Release Megan, and I promise I won't hurt you." James laughed mockingly, taking a step closer to the man. "Oh, I'm not worried about you hurting me, Chairman. I'm more concerned about what I'll do
