Tywin, Astrid and Erik could only stand and watch as a huge beast devil burst out of the building rubble behind Skylar and gobble her up in a split second, they watched as it gulped her down it's throat, "Skylar...no..." "Dark magic arts; crimson death wheel""Thunder flash spear... RELEASE!!" Valdrik and Verner blasted themselves to each other, propelled by their red flames and thunder hex art, Verner went for Valdrik's neck with his blade which Valdrik blocked with his fist, Verner's sword split Valdrik's arm into two down to his elbow then he twisted to blade and slashed the arm off from there. Valdrik stood still and really considered the stakes here, he knew very well that his plan to capture Skylar today was very implausible as time was not on his side, the sun would be up in any minute from now and he'd be doomed, Zaltar and the monsters that he sent after the princess had not given any signal till now, he already began to assume that they were dead, the odds were all stacked against him but he knew that if this operation was botched he would never get a chance like this again. Guardian society disaster management and paramedics arrived at the resort as the sun rose fully, they had a base at one end of the island as they do in every major residential area in Celestra to help survivors and bring medical support after battles with devils like these, the resort was in total shambles and all that was left was ash and wreckage of the destroyed buildings and facilities. Verner, Skylar and the other interns gathered around Cedar as he got his wounds treated and bandaged then placed in a stretcher. Tywin, Astrid and Erik also got their injuries tied up as well, Zaltar's cold blood attacks took a huge toll on them but it not nearly as bad as Cedar who might never be able to fight again. "Tywin, Erik, take Skylar and run as fast as you can, I'll hold him off" Verner commanded, watching Hector very sternly, Tywin didn't seem to agree with his request; "No way Verner, this guy can kill you!!, if we're going to stop him we'd have to fight together" "We cant!!, you two are badly wounded, he'd take you both out immediately and I can't let that happen, get away from here as fast as you can, find somewhere to hide, we can't let anything happen to Skylar." Hector grinned as he watched Verner's heroic act, the whole scene was just so comedic to him, this kid really thought he stood a chance against him in a fight, or he was probably just sacrificing himself, both ways the result would just be his death and it would all be for nothing. Tywin, Erik and Skylar hid themselves in a building on the island, the place seemed to be an abandoned guest house that probably had all it's inhabitants evacuated during the devil attack early this morning. Skylar sat on a chair with her face in her palms, Erik paced around the room and Tywin peeked outside a narrowly opened window, looking out for any signs of Verner or Hector. "Anything yet?" Erik asked and broke the silence, Tywin shut the window and sighed in frustration, "no" he replied coldly. Erik had his hands on his waist and stared at the ground, deep in thought, Tywin bumped his forehead gently on the window repeatedly, the whole room was very tense and moody, they didn't know what to think, what to feel, they could only imagine what Verner would be going through out there, they felt it was best to hide incase Hector got rid of Verner too quickly and chased after them. "Where am I?...what happened to me?...where is everyone?,...Tywin, Erik...Skylar..." The island's forest had become very quiet and only the sounds of chirping birds could be heard, Verner's body laid in a pool of his own blood as his two arms were cut in half and his head was drilled open by Hector's dagger, all of which spilled blood like a bursted tank.
