Chapter 149

"Finally." The night dragged on. Kakashi got off his bed, grabbing his jacket from the makeshift cloth hanger. He walked out of the room, covering long distances with few steps. He rushed down the staircase. The environment was bright enough for him to see, but dark enough not to see far away. It was a blend of night and day, a blur of dreams and reality.

"Phew…" Kakashi sent a gentle knock against the wall of wood moulded before him.

"Who is that?" Jiro grunted. Kakashi moved a step back, a sharp exhale escaped his lips. A chair scraped the floor noisily. Jiro's footsteps delayed, "Who is that?" Kakashi could tell he was closer to the door.

"Kakashi. Jiro? Please, open up." The door creaked slightly open. Jiro's face peered through the crevice, he squinted his eyes searching around for company.

"I'm alone."

"Hm," Jiro grunted. He stepped back, pulling the door closer to himself. Kakashi walked into his room. Fire burned excitedly by his table.

"What are you reading?" Kakashi strolle
