The Annual Globe rode on the wings of the rising sun. Three hours to the start of the annual festivity and less than three hours into his sleep, slamming doors, rushing waters and shuffling feet hung in the atmosphere, a rarity, an extra early preparation for the day ahead. "The most dangerous things can be found in the smallest of bodies," Kakashi muttered to himself. He hung his head in the embrace of his palms. "What does that even mean?" He sighed. "Not today, not today," he got on his feet, his knees grew weak and he fell back into the comfort of his sheets. "Maybe another quick sleep won't be bad." He closed his eyes with a smile."Kakashi!""Who is that?!" Kakashi voiced in a high-pitched tone."Are you still sleeping?" His raised brow suggested familiarity. That has to be her, no? What if you heard wrong… I didn't hear wrong. That was clear. Kakashi kicked off the sheets. He walked hurriedly to the door. Yes! He swung the door open. "What are you doing here?""To get you out
The clouds crowned the sky, bright with cheers and sparks. Each student filled the Arena with gusto and jubilation. Master Yonda looked on from the highest platform, dressed in silky flowing linen. His hair was rather different. It was styled in a ponytail, freeing the significant identification of being the master on his head. He was excited for the day and it showed. He grinned from ear to ear. He had just come come around but he usually wasn't the most anticipated presence in a gathering. For this event however, it was not unexpected for him to be present, however, his early presence - albeit cheered and energetic - still brought amazement to the students."Today must be very special - You mean this week!""This has to be my best week in this school yet.""You haven't been here for even a quarter of the year — I know!"The students laughed and chatted loudly, good energy thickened the atmosphere."Hey. What are you… looking at?" Zoa followed Kakashi's gaze. Kakashi hadn't even noti
A resounding applause returned Kakashi back from his reverie."Yes!""Wait, where is the commander?" Kakashi whispered to Daichi. Daichi extended his eyes over to the platform, "I don't see him. I can't see the emperor either. Maybe they left before the Governor's arrival. Where is Tanya?" Daichi glanced back.Kakashi shrugged. "Where is Tanya?" Daichi looked to his left, asking Zoa. Zoa looked around in search for her, "I haven't seen her. I don't think she is here." Zoa added."We have a break now. We will be back by evening. Go to the canteen and eat. Remember to be back early in the evening." Master Yonda announced. The students cheered, dispersing in droves."Where are you headed?" Daichi looked back to Kakashi. "In search of Tanya. Do you want to come along?""We have to be back by evening." Kakashi replied."Yeah? Who says we won't? She can't be far off. She should be around, somewhere.""You do not look convinced. I can tell you don't want to join me. It's fine." Daichi lunge
"Are you not going to eat?" Daichi spared Kakashi a glance. "You've been quiet since the Governor left. What is wrong?""I don't know. He looks like someone. I don't know what it is, but… I don't know." Kakashi crawled back into his shell. He pushed the plate forward, a little bit away from his front."You know, you can just eat and be happy without troubling yourself with anything else. Nothing matters now, except the Annual Globe." Zoa blinked. She wore a bright smile on her face. Kakashi cracked a smile, Zoa infected him with her infectious smile. The floor squealed as Tanya dragged herself from the table. She jumped to her feet, ready to dash out."Hey. What is up with you? Where are you going?" Zoa raised her gaze to Tanya."I am fine. I just need a little more time outside before the resumption of the Annual Globe.""What kind of illness has brought over her this attitude?" Daichi watched Tanya as she covered the distance to the exit in short, quick steps."You know she can be v
“Hey, hey!” “What?!” Kakashi yelled. He glanced back at the disappearing figure. Damn. “Why were you looking at my brother like that?” Kokohashi strolled towards Kakashi. He squinted his eyes, a hint of suspicion tinting his gaze. “Why is your brother here?” Kakashi blurted out. “Oka-ay… I know we are not really the kind of people you all want in your surroundings but what was that question about? That was… different.” Kakashi sniffed in. Can I trust him? He is his brother. Okay. “Hey?” Kokohashi touched Kakashi’s shoulder. “Are you going to talk?” “Is it not strange that he is here?” Kokohashi raised his head. His eyes searched inside his head to find reasons. He shook his head, “No, not really. Do you think it is strange?” “I mean, the emperor is not even supposed to be here. I heard this event is only for those within the province. Yahuza is not within this Shibuya province, is it? And then, not only is he here, he is here with your brother.” Kakashi’s brow raised, showing
“What is wrong with him over there?” Zoa muttered under her breath, she leaned forward in her seat. “Why is he not talking?” She looked to her side. “Why is he not talking?” She threw her hands in the air. “Do you even care Daichi? Why are you not saying anything?” She stared at him. Is he ignoring me on purpose? Why is he not answering? “Dai? You better talk. This is not funny! Dai!” Zoa swung her palm. Her pupils widened. She stared at her palms, and back at Daichi. Her hands dropped. She gasped, words failed to fall out of her parted lips. What is going on? Her legs were light but her footsteps were heavy. She stooped, searching for anything out of the ordinary. “Daichi?” She shook him. He stared through her. In silence. She threw her clenched fist into his head, and all she felt was… nothing. Oh my… she flashed her eyes to his side, “Tanya,” she whispered. “Tanya! Tanya! What is wrong with everyone?” She rushed to seek answers. “Tanya?” She held her head in her hands. She sp
Kakashi jumped down, not sparing a moment for himself. The platform shook. Rocks fell into dust. “Zoa? Zoa? What is wrong with her?” Kakashi pulled her to himself. “Zoa? Please wake up. Wake up!” His cheek warmed as a tear rolled down. “Kakashi, what are you doing?” “Leave her alone.”“No!” “I have to save her. Leave my way, let me save her. I can save her.” Kakashi’s shoulder ached. Zoa’s limbs sprawled as he carried her through the converged bodies.“What is he doing?” “Why is he doing this?” Murmuring filled the air as he dashed out through them. What am I doing? Will I be able to save her? Will she make it? Oh please. Zoa. Please… Kakashi kept on running. The clouds gathered, drowning the light with its thickness and unity. The atmosphere was a shadow of itself. “DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING?” Kakashi spun. He closed his eyes, sniffing the scent of earth. “GIVE HER TO ME AND I WILL LET OTHERS LIVE.” “Why would I do that?” Kakashi responded.“BECAUSE YOU WANT DAICHI AND
The once vibrant and energetic Arena was now occupied with some scattered students who hung back after the desolation of the Annual Globe. The silence over the school was shielded only by the students who murmured about what had happened. Just hours before, the crowd had been alive with laughter and cheers, the smell of sweet flowers and savoury delights had filled the air. Master Yonda paced around in panic, his eyes stared intensely through the windows that sandwiched the curtains. He walked away from his chair, leaving the argument to his guests. He wanted the Annual Globe, but he wanted the life of his daughter more.“We have to call it quits! We cannot go ahead with this, we have no idea what we are dealing with or how to identify it. How do we stop what we don’t know?” Doctor Haishi continued.“It matters very little now. I do not see a reason why we should continue this when we can go back to the normal date for the Annual Globe. It is fine if we agree to have been in haste fo
