“Who is that?” Jay responded to the persistent knocks that landed on the door.

He walked to the door to check who it was. His face changed expressions as he saw the face at the other end of the door. He opened the door slightly as he went back to his bed to sit. He had forgotten he still had a roommate.

“I’m sorry I locked you out.” Jay apologized to Kakashi, picking up the book he was reading before the interruption

“No, it’s fine.” Kakashi felt like a stranger in the room. His legs were heavy, as the distance to his bed looked suddenly far.

He scratched his head, repeating the words he had been practising in his head. He struggled to weave his words around his tongue as he reached his bed faster than he thought. He sat on his bed, stealing glances at Jay.
