CHAPTER 11:THE CONSEQUENCES

It has been a week since the Vincent and Emanuel incident happened and it is still circulating not just in the Academy but also all over the world. For some reason, the media got the news on what happened and now they are pestering the staffs of the Academy, building camps outside the Academy and begging to the headmaster to have an interview or say some words. And as the word spreads like wildfire, Vincent’s name roared throughout the world. The fact that he defeated a fellow noble which isn’t just a noble since Emanuel is a child of the Household of Gold and that alone has been an outstanding feat of his. Another great feat is that Vincent defeated 21 first-class students which is considered as a powerhouse class all by himself. Although Vincent’s fame is now spreading, his siblings doesn’t approve of his actions. He just put not only his life but also his Household in danger because of his recklessness. And now, Sophia, Victor, Violet and Jameson are in a call, discussing the answers of the Gold Household.

“What is the situation there, Sophia?” asked Victor.

Sophia sighed. “He is still not awake. It’s been a week and he’s still sleeping. His body is also releasing steam and heat for some reason and it is making me nervous.” Says Sophia.

What she said was true. Vincent was definitely releasing heat and steam and no one knows why. Margarita is in a state of panic right now since she can’t figure out why is Vincent’s body steaming and emitting heat. His blood circulation, heart rate, blood pressure and all of his vital signs are normal. And Vincent being in a coma is most likely impossible since he didn’t suffer any severe injuries other than exhaustion. Emanuel is the one who received the serious injuries and yet he woke up 2 days after the incident. So, no one really knows what’s happening to Vincent.

“And regarding the Gold Household. They said that once Vincent has awaken, they will immediately schedule a meeting with me and the headmaster.” Says Jameson.

Violet and Victor nodded as he said that. Despite the trouble Vincent has brought since he came back, they were all proud of what he has become. He didn’t become gloomy as they expected, he’s come back carrying the will of their late mother. The will to save and protect lives and always initiate rightful justice. They may hate to admit it, but Vincent will be a much better Hero than they are, as a matter of fact, Vincent has already surpassed his siblings at some point. But the trouble he’s done cannot be overlooked, they need to lecture him once he wakes up and it is a must.

“Well then, I should be going now. Lots to do.” Says Victor.

“I’ll be hanging up too,” says Violet then looked at Sophia “Call us once he wakes up, okay? Take care, Sophia.” Says Violet then she hung up and was immediately followed by Victor.

The ones remaining are Sophia and Jameson, her father.

“Well, I think I’ll hang up too. I will see you soon, okay? Go get some rest, Sophia, you need it.” Says Jameson.

“How can I sleep when I’m too worried about Vin-”

“Your brother is strong, and you definitely know that. Trust him like we do. You above all knows that he can survive this, you're considered as twins, remember? Now, I’ll be going now, take care and rest.” Says her father then his video frame disappeared.

Sophia then sighed and laid down on her bed and slept. Vincent on the other hand is in the school clinic and emitting steam and heat. Margarita is the one who is watching over him right now since the headmaster has assigned shifts. She continues to find an answer to the steam and heat Vincent is releasing but it just gives her headaches. She approached Vincent and touched his arm; she quickly pulled her hand out as it was hot. The heat Vincent is releasing is not normal, it is just like when you put your hand in fire, Vincent’s temperature is just like fire, it can burn skin. Vincent’s face was twitching as he slept and it is obvious that he is in pain right now. Margarita hates to see a patient of hers suffering like this as it also makes her suffer. Because she believes that every doctor sometimes suffer the same pain their patients are experiencing if they don’t know what to do to relieve their sufferings. And now there she is, standing by Vincent’s side, thinking of a cure that can never be made.

The next day was as buzzing as the past ones, reporters were still outside hoping to have an interview with either the headmaster or any of the Academy’s faculty staff. Meanwhile, inside Vincent’s head, he is back in the dark place where only a door with bright light can be seen. He tried going there but it was useless since the door felt like miles away from him. Then as he sat on the ground because of tiredness, the man in this place appeared by the door again.

“I think we have plenty of time to talk, now speak. Who are you?” asked Vincent.

He is annoyed because even in his normal dreams, this man always appears and disappear in thin air.

The man just laughed at Vincent. “You think that we have the time to talk? No, young hero. You’ll be waking up any minute now and be prepared. For I have seen the battle a week ago, and the consequences seems to be severe.” Says the man.

Vincent stood up. “Wait? You can see what is happening outside?” he asked.

The man nodded. But before the man could speak, voices echoed throughout the place. What Vincent didn’t know that the clinic has been thrown into chaos. Margarita and the nurse are panicking and Sophia stood at the corner of the room with tears falling down her face.

“We have no proper equipment! Perform CPR, hurry!” ordered a panicking Margarita.

The nurse then performed CPR on Vincent, whose heart rate has dropped and is now in the brink of death.

Sophia just stood there, too scared to move.

She then thought to herself “Don’t you dare die, Vincent.” And tears started to trickle down her face rapidly. The nurse was performing CPR when the door burst open. It was Jameson, and his expression is unbearable to Sophia. Jameson then ran straight to Vincent but Margarita stopped him in his tracks.

“You mustn’t! Just go outside for now and calm down! We’ll handle this, we’ll definitely save him!” begged Margarita and the daughter and father followed.

Sophie then sat and leaned on a wall next to the door while Jameson walked back and forth. He does not know what to react, will he be worried? Be thrown into despair? Cry? Lash out his anger? Or be disappointed to himself? He already lost his wife and losing Vincent will be impossible for him to handle.

Sophia then looked at her nervous father “Hey, Dad! Calm down too will ya’? Aren’t you the one who said that Vincent can overcome this? We have no choice but to believe in him that he can and I know that he definitely can! So, calm down!” says Sophia with a shaky voice.

Jameson nodded and gently leaned on a pillar. Margarita and the nurse is trying everything they can to revive Vincent. Meanwhile, inside Vincent’s head.

The man smiled at Vincent once more. “I should leave now so you can be revived. Don’t worry, we got plenty of time to answer your questions, but for now,” says the man as Vincent waited for another word when a strong breeze hit his face. “You must grow strong, so when the time comes, your body is up and ready to accept it. Now, wake up.” Added the man then Vincent fell once more in the dark hole where he fell last time.

And as Margarita continued to revive Vincent, she quickly jumped backwards as she felt Vincent’s skin burning. She looked at the electrocardiogram and was relieved to see that it went back to normal, Vincent’s heart began to beat again. Then clouds of steam was released by Vincent’s body and they can feel the heat even though they are 6 feet away. Margarita then narrowed her eyes to Vincent’s hands and saw them glow, when she is about to check it, it suddenly disappeared. She then moved closer to Vincent and it took her by surprise. Vincent unexpectedly opened his eyes, took a deep breath then sat up and removed the apparatus attached to his mouth. He looked around while breathing heavily and saw the sweaty nurse and Margarita. The nurse then called Sophia and Jameson and they rushed in the room and tears of joy fell down their faces and quickly ran to Vincent and hugged him. Vincent was surprised because Sophia also hugged him which he missed a lot since they haven’t had this moment in ten years. Jameson and Sophia then cried their eyes out.

“Don’t cry, I am still alive.” Says Vincent then Sophia raised her head and looked at Vincent.

“Don’t cry!? You almost died! You made us worried sick! Are you an idiot?! Next time don’t be, okay?!” snapped Sophia and hugged her brother again. “I don’t want to lose anyone in our family again.” She added.

Then Vincent remembered the time their mother died, Sophia never left her room and didn’t eat for 2 whole weeks. “I’m sorry. ” Vincent apologized.

Jameson let go off his son, cleared his throat and wiped the tears out of his face. He then went and explained to Vincent that he needs to unfortunately suffer the consequences of that fight and accept what punishment is to fall before him. Vincent just smirked and said that he has no regrets on what he did. He only did what is right, and he also says that anybody who has the ability can also do what he did. But this time, he chose to carry it by himself in order to protect others. He also said that he won’t suffer severe punishments as he is a noble but Jameson told him that there is still a possibility for him to get a cruel punishment as the other party probably won’t give him a shed of mercy as Vincent utterly defeated and humiliated the Gold boy in front of the other students. The parents of the students that Vincent has also beaten already filed a case against him if Vincent is proven to be the one who started it and what they just did was just self-defense.

Vincent smirked. “I can’t blame them, I clearly beat the hell out of them and humiliated them. I think I deserve this.” Calmly said by Vincent.

“But Vincent you-” Jameson’s words were cut as Vincent looked at him with those determined eyes that is obviously willing to suffer the consequences without any hesitation.

“I’ve caused enough trouble. I came back just to ruin your lives and be an absolute embarrassment. I think I should come back to the mountains and-” Sophia suddenly slapped Vincent.

Her jaw is shaking and is obviously furious. But Vincent doesn’t know why.

“You will not be returning to the mountains! I will not allow it!” she yelled then stormed out of the room slamming the door as she closed it.

What’s up with her?” Vincent asked himself and looked back at his father.

“In any case, we will do everything we can to prove that what you did was right.”

Vincent sighed “You don’t have to, father.” He says.

Jameson then slapped the head of his son gently and held the burning hand of Vincent. And that’s when Vincent noticed that he was steaming and burning and yet, Sophia and his father managed to bear it and continued hugging him. Jameson then tightened his grip on Vincent’s hand.

“I will stand beside you no matter what. I’ll take your side even if you’re wrong, because you are my son. And I love you and your siblings. Bear in mind that a parent would never abandon his or her children even if they are in the wrong, remember that.” Says Jameson.

Vincent then bowed his head and looked at his hand and saw his father’s hand shaking, maybe because of the extreme heat.

“Now, clean yourself up and get dressed. We have an appointment with the headmaster.” Says Jameson then let go off Vincent’s hand and Vincent immediately saw the mark that was left because of the heat, that would definitely leave a scar.

Vincent smiled slightly and a tear trickled down his cheek but he wiped it out immediately. He stepped out of bed and prepared himself to face the consequences of his actions.
