A day was picked for Cassandra and William’s wedding. It was the talk of the town with many in anticipation about it. “ Are you ready?” Miranda asked, looking at Ethan in the face.
“ I don’t know why but I feel a little bit anxious.” Ethan replied. “ You are not tied to the Paige anymore. You are with me now.” Miranda Said with a smile on his face. “ What do you have on Williams Hargrove?” Ethan looked at her. “ Why don’t we make this more interesting?” Miranda said sharply. “ Interesting? How?” “ Why don’t we get married?” Miranda asked, looking at him. “ Married? Why would you want to marry a man with nothing? Look at me.” Ethan said pitifully “ I don’t think I am ready to get married again. Not after what happened to me the last time.” “ I am not, Cassandra and I will never do anything to hurt you.” She said slowly. Before Ethan could move away any further, She planted a kiss on Ethan’s lips. Miranda’s bold move left Ethan stunned, his mind racing with conflicting emotions. He gently pulled back, but her confident gaze held him in place. “Miranda,” Ethan began, his voice barely above a whisper, “I… I don’t know if I can trust anyone like that again. Especially not after Cassandra.” Miranda tilted her head, her expression softening. “I’m not asking you to trust me blindly, Ethan. I’m asking you to trust that we can help each other. You’ve been through hell, and so have I. Maybe together, we can find a way to make things right—for both of us.” Ethan turned away, running a hand through his hair. The thought of what Cassandra had done to him was something he was trying to fight. But Miranda’s proposal was more than just about marriage—it was a calculated move to solidify their partnership, to stand as equals against their common enemies. “Fine,” Ethan said after a long silence, his back still to her. “If getting married helps us achieve our goal, then I’ll do it. But this isn’t about love or trust. This is a business deal.” Miranda smiled faintly, stepping closer. “Agreed. But maybe, just maybe, we’ll find something more in the process.” As the days got closer to Cassandra and Williams’ wedding, the city buzzed with excitement. Miranda played her part flawlessly, attending fittings and rehearsals as Cassandra’s ever-dutiful chief bridesmaid. Behind the scenes, however, she and Ethan worked hard to craft their plan. Ethan’s role was clear: gather incriminating evidence against Williams and Cassandra. He spent nights hacking into their financial records and also trying to dig more dirt on the Paige family. The day before the wedding, Miranda had gone to the Paige’s family house to help with the preparation. “I can’t believe I am finally getting to be Mrs. Hargrove,” Cassandra said, beaming with a smile. “You must be so excited,” Miranda said, handing Cassandra a glass of champagne. “Ecstatic,” Cassandra replied, her voice dripping with arrogance. “Williams is everything Ethan wasn’t—rich, powerful, and ambitious. I finally have the life I deserve.” Miranda’s grip on the glass tightened. “I’m happy for you,” she said, her tone neutral. “You always knew how to get what you wanted.” Cassandra smirked, raising her glass. “Here’s to a perfect future.” Miranda forced a smile as their glasses clinked, but in her mind, she was already envisioning the chaos that would unfold the next day. The morning of the wedding, the grand venue was packed with guests dressed in their finest attire. Cassandra was a vision in white, basking in the attention as she prepared to walk down the aisle. Ethan on the other hand was the trump card Miranda had been hiding. She didn’t let Cassandra know that Ethan was with her all along. “ How do I look?” Cassandra asked, staring at Miranda. “ You look stunning. “ What about Ethan? You promised to help me get him. Williams cannot know that I have dissolved the marriage with him. I can’t have him holding me back.” “ Don’t worry, Ethan won’t be a problem and even if he tries to ruin the union, we are going to have him thrown out.” Miranda said with a smile. “ I trust you.” Cassandra replied. The door opened and Williams walked in. His face went pale as he locked eyes with Miranda. “ Do you know each other?” Cassandra asked, noticing the tense atmosphere. “ No, I am just seeing him for the first time.” Miranda said, looking at her. “ I must say, friend. He looks dashing in that Italian suit.” Miranda said gently into Cassandra’s ears as she walked out of the room. However, Ethan was seated in the car though, he looked a bit nervous. He and Miranda had also planned to get married on the same day Miranda and Williams were getting married at the same marriage registry in fact. Then, he put a call through to her as Miranda was already inside the venue. “Hey, I’m outside, can you come now?” He said camly. “Sure, I’m on my way,” Miranda replied as she excused herself from Cassandra and William’s presence. And just like a wind, she got outside the venue and was able to locate Ethan with the help of the car’s color. With a smile, she entered. “ Are you ready?,” She began. “ Remember, once we are married, you aren’t the lowlife man who worked for the Paige’s company. You are now a man who controls a multi-dollar company.” Miranda said with confidence. “And when I said I was going to help you get your revenge, I also promised to make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams.” Hearing all of theses, Ethan watched as Miranda walked away. “ This is now or never.” He said to himself. The church bell chimed and everyone began to troop into the church to witness the holy matrimony of Miranda and Williams. As they were about to enter the church, Cassandra caught a whimp of Ethan seated in the car. “ Is that?” She took a look at the car. “ Are you alright?” Williams asked, staring at her face. “ I think I saw him.” Cassandra said again. “ Who? Ethan. I don’t want you to mention that poverty stricken man’s name.” Williams said, holding her hand. Miranda let out a gentle smile as they walked into the church. “ Are you ready to become one with him, to be his lawfully wedded wife?” The pastor said, looking at Cassandra. She was about to say the word but then the door opened. Everyone’s attention shifted towards the door to see this stunning and handsome young man walking through the entrance. “ Is that?” Williams asked, staring at Cassandra who looked dazed. “ What the hell is he doing here?” William said slowly, staring at her face. To everyone’s surprise, Miranda took off the chief bridesmaid maid dresses. Underneath was a wedding gown of her own. The crowd ripped with murmurs as many of them didn’t understand what was happening. “ Isn’t that Cassandra’s ex husband?” One of the guests who recognised him said. “ What is going on?” Frank looked at his wife Tiffany who was also lost. “ We aren’t only joining the Hargroves in holy matrimony but we are also joining Ethan and Miranda Lescot also.” The pastor said beaming with a smile. “ What? You mean to tell me you had him within your grasp all this time?” Cassandra looked at her in anger. “ “ I am not only having him but he is going to be my husband.” Miranda snapped at her. Cassandra plunged at Miranda and landed a heavy slap to her face. The hall was immediately silent with everyone wondering what was happeningRelated Chapters
VOWS OF VENGEANCE A Taste Of Medicine
Miranda's ears rang at the impact, but she maintained her cool, with her eyes shining in anger as she comforted herself not to go out of character yet. “You slapped me.” She uttered in disbelief. Cassandra nodded, looking grave. “And I will slap you again for being the worst person I could ever imagine. You had that piece of trash in your hands all along, yet you rallied around me, pretending to forget about it and never mentioning a word. How do you think that makes me feel, huh? Do you think that I am happy with the things that I am hearing? Of course not!” Cassandra thundered. Miranda put her hands down and kept on staring at Ethan who sauntered towards the front of the hall with a small smirk on his face. He loved the fact that he shocked them to the bone and they had no words.Cassandra recovered from the shock first before speaking. “Ethan, you have the guts to show up on my wedding day intending to disrupt the process? How dare you!” “No, how dare you have the right to smac
VOWS OF VENGEANCE Two Faced Ex
Miranda and Ethan laughed to the heart's content immediately after they entered the car. Who would have imagined that Cassandra was going to react that way? "I have never seen her this angry in my life. Not even when she wanted me gone out of her life." Ethan commented as a driver turned on the ignition. Miranda couldn't help her laughter from bubbling out of her lips. "I'm sure that you wouldn't be able to believe her eyes but that's part of the package. I have always wanted to see her suffer." Ethan didn't know how to feel about that. He and Miranda had not finally come to a conclusion about what they were about to do to these guys. "Why do you hate your friend so much?" He inquired just to understand the road map of this revenge scheme. Miranda shrugged carelessly but he didn't believe that. "Let's just say that Williams and I have a score to settle and I need to emerge as a winner." She replied earnestly. Nothing disturbed Ethan because he also had a singular goal but
VOWS OF VENGEANCE The Challenge
"Ma'am, you have a visitor." Miranda's maid informed her and she smiled. She had been looking forward to this visitor and was happy that she wasn't disappointed. Something surged inside of her.Victory. She had not even pulled out all her cards but they were already dancing to her tune. "Let her in." She smirked, before adjusting her position on the seat. She suddenly realized that fighting against Cassandra was going to be easier than she thought. Cassandra strolled into the magnificent house that she had once frequented but didn't know that she was dwelling with someone who had the potential to destroy her. How she hadn't realized this was still beyond her, and she wanted to trash this issue now, once and for all."What a surprise, I thought that you would have left the country to fuel your shenanigans," Cassandra said with a weird smile on her face. Miranda smiled at the challenging look on her friend's face. "You should take a chill pill. It's not a new thing. You rejected him,
VOWS OF VENGEANCE Boundaries And Plans
Cassandra locked eyes with Ethan and scowled as he descended the stairs. "Oh, my goodness. Here comes the bride." She mocked."I would have said the same for you but we all know the reason you got married to him. You want a slice of his properties." Ethan didn't waste time returning the energy making her go red in the face. Miranda snickered in the background before averting her eyes pretending not to listen to them. "Oh? Is that what you think my marriage was?" Cassandra fired at him. "Exactly what I think it is. You came here to undermine me. Why should I spare you my thoughts? If you had any tangible reason you would have made it known. I think it's becoming borderline worrisome that you engage yourself in conversations about me when you can simply pretend that I do not exist in any form or shape and we wouldn't have problems." Ethan fired back. Cassandra's eyes remained wide as she tried to figure out what gave Ethan sudden boldness besides Miranda's money. "It's amazing how a
VOWS OF VENGEANCE Taking Charge
Ethan walked into Miranda's company in next day with a swagger in his step. He had practiced for this moment and wasn't about to allow it to pass him by. Miranda fell into step with him, and he found himself smiling as they passed through the workers who were already surrounding every step and waiting for him to probably make a mistake. Miranda removed her glasses at the same time Ethan did, and their workers broke into applause. They stopped walking immediately after they got to the middle of the room. It was time to give a public address since not a lot of people were present at the wedding. Miranda stretched her hand and a mic was thrusted into her palm. "Good morning everyone." A chorus answered her and she smiled in acknowledgement. "As you all know, I have gotten married to the love of my life, and he will be taken of your position. Anyone who does not like the change in leadership can exit peacefully." She announced while gazing at everyone present. They all held t
VOWS OF VENGEANCE Parental Interlude
Miranda's parents stood at the doorway, gazing at their child in horror. They would never have imagined that they would be in such a situation where they would beg for their child's sanity."Good to see you, Pops, Ma." She responded casually like she didn't understand the reason why they were here. "I never knew that you were coming in so soon I will have made preparations for you. I hope you are not saddened by my actions. I can still take you out for lunch if you don't mind." She said, brushing off the elephant in the room. Ethan decided to jump into the conversation not allowing them to override him, just like the mistake he had made with cassandra's parents a while ago. "Good day sir, ma'am. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. Your daughter has spoken highly of you."The shot him a condescending look, which screamed gold digger. "I don't remember asking you to join in this conversation." Miranda's mother, Diana spoke instantly.Ethan merely shrugged refusing to back down. "I und

If she was able to prove that he was just an imposter and this was a fake marriage then he was done for. His cell phone rang in his pocket, making him jump in fear, before maintaining his cool and looking around to see if anyone had spotted his little display of fear. How she managed to still instill fear in him was a wonder that he was not willing to explore. He was willing to explore his freedom to the maximum. And that began from feeling like he was the CEO and not the other way around. "Yes?" "Williams Ha
VOWS OF VENGEANCE Charade
Miranda looked all around for her husband and almost went mad by calling his phone numerous but to her chagrin, he didn't pick up. She had stylishly asked me if they had seen him but everyone kept talking in the negative. She didn't want to believe that he had absconded just the first day of having access to her wealth. This would mean that Cassandra had won and that will be the end of everything that she had been trying to prove to that couple. Ethan, on the other hand, had decided to cross over to the next Street and have his lunch. He didn't want to return to the office where he was not as respected as he would have loved to be. He could read through the lines because he was not stupid and the only way he could exert dominance was to show that he was somebody with or without Miranda. Negative Allies
Early morning visitors were always the best to deal with especially when it comes to wasting some time, because they helped in awakening you before heading over to work. Ethan was surprised to see this man standing in front of his door with a file especially when he had moved from his previous home to the new one so that he could oversee everything going on in the company. Damien felt bad that he was throwing his former boss under the bus but that was not going to stop him from saying his truth because this man now had forgotten what it meant to be available and loyal at the same time. Ethan moved towards him because he intentionally didn't wake Miranda after staying up for so long the previous night. It wouldn't make any sense to do that so he wanted a level of calmness before pitching anything to her The only thing that could make her listen to him right now was if it was monetary. There was absolutely no need for him to stress her out. "Damien, I have seen you in mutual meetin
Rebuild
Ethan's welcome party was a huge one because everyone wanted to get to understand why he was acting all cold and didn't even look into anyone's eyes pretending like they didn't exist. It would have made a lot of sense if most of them had taken up the offer but now they refused and were suffering from it. He and Miranda had their fights behind closed doors, but before the world,, they were a formidable pair that no one dared to cross. He whispered into Miranda's ears as the camera scheme closer just to prove that they were very close and that it would make a little sense for others to keep their tongue away from them. "This is the only place where we have to go deep as probably sharing a few kisses just to prove to people that we are the best bunch. It doesn't really mean anything to me, and I believe it's the same with you." He asked her. She didn't respond. Instead, she kept on watching ahead as the reporters came near. "This is the official launch of your company how do you fee
Sabotaging
Williams had enough of beating around the bush and he decided that the next time he was going to be involved in such discussions he would not waste anytime but to put this guys under the bus. "You have made the rounds a few times and everyone has never believed you why do you think this is going to change now?" The reporter asked him when he came into the studio because quite frankly she was getting tired of his appearances and making sure that people saw him in the best light. She kind of knew that the people who came to cry wolf most times didn't even have anything attached to their name such as integrity. More evidences have been leaked to the press that he was involved in some illegal businesses not limited to human trafficking but people were still digging deep before accusing such a reputable businessman at least that was what they knew him as. "I think that question is too direct and you are only doing this to satisfy your curiosity instead of being truly involved in this ca

A Mother's Confession
I sighed tiredly as I followed Roslyn behind. She had promised to tell me something and I'm so eager to hear what she had to say. We stopped at a small barbecue stand that evening. The bar was buzzing with noise from a not too far distance."Would you have some?" I asked, staring over at her and she nodded. "I'm paying for two" I told the man and he smiled before wrapping up the barbecue,he handed it to me and I gave the two to Roslyn.I dipped my hand into my back pocket and brought out my wallet and paid for the barbecue. "Do you sell those drinks too?" I asked pointing over at the cokes that were resting on the wall."Of course I do. It won't be nice if you buy barbecue without drinks, should I wrap it up?" He asked and i nodded and he gave me the drink while I paid the bills. After doing so,I look into my wallet and I saw no penny in it."Let's go over there" I pointed a bench not too far from the stand and we went there and sat on it."You said you want to tell me something" I re
The Bond Of Blood
The doctor might have agreed to keep his mouth shut for now. But I knew better than to rely on just one person to keep my secret. If I wanted to stay ahead I needed a backup plan. My mind searched through the people I knew trying to figure out who I knew could keep a secret or who I could trust but no one came up. They’re all fake and trusting them is like digging my own grave. I inhaled resting my head on the pillow when a mane struck my thought. Roslyn If I can at least give some 50% of my trust it should be Roslyn. She’s unpredictable sharp and good. I wasn’t sure if I could trust her but I also knew she was my best option. I picked up my phone and dialed her number. The phone rang twice before she picked up. “Jordan?” Her voice was steady but I could hear the sight edge of sorry beneath it. “Where the hell have you been?” “Worried about me?” I smirked. “This isn’t funny!” She snapped. “Do you have an idea of what’s happening? Your family is practically setting the city o
