A new lady

Darius was relieved but also angry at those men for humiliating him that way. Thanks to this lady he had been saved from further embarrassment and they apologized. Darius just shook his head, there were a lot of dumb people around these days.

Then he was wondering why the beautiful lady had decided to help him despite how he looked and the fact that they had never met before.

He was unsure of how to address her so he kind of stuttered. “Uhm... Thank you miss...”

“You don’t have to.” She cut him short without smiling.

Darius looked at her face and was a bit mesmerized by how beautiful she looked. He hadn’t got a chance to take a good look at her yet and now that he did, she was nothing short of awesome. However, he brought his thoughts back to the moment and spoke again.

“Why did you help me? Have we met somewhere before?” He asked curiously and a little uneasy. But she just glanced at him as she sighed softly.

“Do I need to know you to help you? Not everyone is heartless you know? Besides me helping you might be beneficial to me in the future. I might need your help sometime in the future or not. Either way, it doesn’t matter. It’s not like I lost anything by assisting you. It literally cost me nothing to help you who needed it.

Darius was silent. He didn’t know what to think. Was she kind or not? Well, it didn’t matter. At least he was rescued from those nasty people.

“What were you doing there by the way?” She asked him after some pause. “Where exactly were are you going?”

Darius replied with a tired sigh. “I was just trying to get directions. I’m on my way to a house around here but they just started insulting me and trying to chase me away. They said I don’t belong here.”

She glanced at him again and sighed again. “Where exactly are you going. I might as well drop you off.”

Then Darius gave her the address he was given and she looked at it curiously. Then she headed towards the address.

Some minutes later they arrived at a gate that was closed. The lady was quite in shock that this was the address he had shown her. She knew who had the house.

“We’re here.” Darius looked at the gate they stopped at with curiousity. It was a large black gate that hid a bit of the beauty inside. There were also masterfully decorated walls with flowers in front of them. He wanted to go in immediately to have a good look at the house.

...But simple courtesy had to go first. “Thank you for your help ma’am. I really appreciate what you did for me today.

But the just waved off like it was nothing. “That’s enough. I told you it wasn’t necessary to thank me. Besides, are you sure the address you have is correct?” She asked.

“Yeah, It is.” She glanced at him with some curiosity in her eyes and asked again. “Is this your house?”

Darius felt awkward so he just smiled nervously while scratching his dark brown hair and replied. “Ah.. No, It belongs to a friend of mine.”

He didn’t really know the proper answer to give so he just came up with something. If he told her it was his house she wouldn’t believe him because of how he looked. Plus, she probably knew that it belongs to the McArthur family.

She just nodded her head like she was confirming something. She was quite sure that it belonged to McArthur family but it still didn’t explain why someone like him would be coming there. Maybe he was just there to work as a servant in the house or something.

“Well, take care. I have to go.” She got into her car and drove off while Darius muttered another thanks as he watched her go. She didn’t mention her name to him and so did he. He had no idea who she was. Maybe he would find out in the future.

He turned to face the gate again and saw that it required a password to go in. He checked the message that had been sent to him with the address and typed the password in.

What greeted his eyes was too wonderful and he paused for some seconds before recovering. There was a villa standing in front of him. It looked like one from those fantasy movies.

It had pristine white walls and clear glass. There was a big pool by the side of the house and also a garden some 100 meters to the other side. The rest of the compound was a wide lawn that ran about the house. There were benches constructed under some trees and a fancy walkway that led to the front of the house.

After regaining his bearing, he walked towards the house and opened the door with another password. As he stepped inside the house he was in shock again as he saw the interior. But this shock was not as much as the previous ones. He had so much shocks today that he was growing a bit numb to it.

He didn’t even bother to explore the house. He needed to rest so he just searched for the kitchen, took some food from the fridge and ate. Then he found the room and jumped straight on the bed. He drove off to sleep immediately.

At least if he woke up tomorrow and everything had been a dream it would have been the greatest dream ever and he would have slept well.

But was it just a dream? He wasn’t so sure as he dozed off.

Then he heard a ringing. It was his phone that was ringing. Had he slept? He didn’t know but he felt that his body was lighter and well relaxed. He checked the time and saw that it was very early in the morning and sighed.

His phone didn’t stop ringing so he picked it up and saw the caller ID.

It was his wife.
