Chapter sixty nine
Devon POV:

It's been a long walk to nowhere. Nevertheless, I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I looked around me and the place was unfamiliar to me.

My legs were aching from the long distance, my stomach was empty, and my throat was dried up with my mouth and lips. There was almost no hope of my surviving.

I sat down at the side of the road and wondered, first, how I was going to find my way back on foot as I had no money on me.

Second, of how I was going to eat and where I was going to stay. I knew no one in this place and no one seemed ready to let in a stranger.

This was another poor side of the city, one of which I did not know. People paid no attention to me and just went about with their businesses.

Soon I found an empty hut and I made myself at home. It didn't look like anyone stayed there anymore.

"Excuse me, ma'am. Do you know the people who live here?" I asked a passerby, as I stepped out of the hut. The lady looked at me with indifference, hissed, and walked away. Th
