chapter sixteen

I arrived at the Wilsons' family mansion in the clothes that Tamira sent to me. I knocked and after some time the door was answered by a maid.

"Good day sir, how may I hold you?" the maid inquired and coughed a bit. I could see that she was struggling with something.

When she couldn't hold it anymore she held on to her nose and I knew the message she was passing. Why wouldn't I stink this bad? It's not like water was constantly available for us on the side of the city we lived in.

"I am here for the job of a house boy," I answered.

"Houseboy?" she questioned and coughed like she almost choked.

"No such openings here. The wrong house," she told me.

"Miss Tamira herself sent for me," I told the maid.

"I told you there is no such opening. Anyways, hold on and I will ask her about it." the maid said and hurriedly slammed the door shut.

I waited for the maid who took five minutes before returning. "Come in and follow me." the maid said to me.
