Ethan sat in his car, staring at Sasha from the mirror. Liam could tell that his boss was confused, so he decided to ask. “What are you going to do?”

“I don't think that I have a choice here. I rejected her the other time. I can do it again.”

“What if she truly is a spy sent to monitor you?”

“Then I guess that we are going to find out, but either way, I can't keep dealing with what if. I have to try something.”

“I guess you are right” Liam muttered as he watched Ethan turn around and start walking back towards the girl.

“So what did he say?”

“I guess I can hang out,” he announced, and her lips crept into a smile. They both silently began to walk through the street, navigating to the other side of the street that seemed so calm.

“I am guessing you have somewhere in mind?” Ethan asked, seeing that they had both been walking in silence while he had no idea where they were going.

“Yes, and we are almost there”

“Is it an expensive restaurant?”

“Of course not! "It's budget-friendly, and you

"Sorry, Henry. I didn’t realize."Helen, his mother-in-law, chimed in, sipping her wine with a superior smirk."Honestly, Ethan, how Sophia puts up with you is beyond me. You’ve been in this family for two years, and still, you can’t manage to do anything right."Max seized the moment, not missing the chance to take his usual shot at Ethan."She must be a saint. I mean, being married to someone who can’t even hold down a decent job? No offense, Ethan, but what is it you do again? Oh, that’s right… nothing."Heat crept up Ethan's face, and his hands clenched at his sides. No matter how hard he tried, he always felt like the outsider, the one wh

He didn’t need to.The remote cabin he had booked sat nestled in the mountains, away from the prying eyes and judgmental whispers of those who had belittled him. He claims that they have encountered such a situation and, even though she is not yet fully healed, she has been properly taken care of and, in the trial stage, if it works, then we can also take Mom there.“This trial stage that you speak of, how long is it going to take, because, from the look of things, Mom doesn't have that much time?”Zara let out an exasperated sigh, even though Ethan was fully aware of that, yet he was going to give it all of his best.“I don't know, but I am going to keep trying every drug and, after the test, just to keep Mom going, even if she is not ready to continue fighting, I will fight for her sake!”His eyes darkened as he said the words and were clouded with determination. I am sure that you don't want her to see you in such a state because that would only make her more sad.”He carefully wiped off the strain of tears in her eyes.
