Venus (Chapter 8)

VENUS (Chapter 8)

"Daddy, who is he?" asked Arumi who looked down at the figure of the young man behind Frans.

Frans turned around. He guessed what Arumi meant was Venus, "Oh, her. Daddy's new bodyguard, darling."

"New bodyguard? How come I just found out? Daddy has never told me about recruiting new bodyguards before?" Arumi questioned her father's decision to hire a new bodyguard. Meanwhile, the number of bodyguards at home is not small.

"Daddy only met her a month ago. You could say our meeting was very unexpected," explained Frans while pursing his lips, which he showed directly to Venus.

Arumi frowned, "You've only met him for a month, why does Daddy trust him so much?

Venus swallowed hard, not expecting Frans' daughter to be so talkative and alert.

Arumi took her steps towards Venus who was standing straight, "Daddy didn't choose the wrong person, did he? Daddy appointed a weak man like this as a bodyguard? Just from his appearance, it's very different from the bodyguards Daddy has."

Arumi saw Venus from head to toe. His mediocre appearance made Arumi question his father's decision. Even though she doesn't live with Frans, Arumi always gets the latest news from her father.

It's not meant to be derogatory, but Arumi just doesn't feel confident about her Daddy's new bodyguard.

Frans hurriedly went to his beloved daughter, "Arumi, darling, Daddy always said that we shouldn't judge someone by their appearance alone. Do you still remember the teachings that Daddy always said? Do you still remember that?"

Frans put his arm around Arumi's shoulders. He could clearly feel that his only daughter's gaze was so domineering.

Venus even lowered her shoulders. There was a feeling of guilt hanging over his heart and mind. Indirectly, Arumi's cautious attitude will make Venus feel awkward and uncomfortable. Frans is sure of that, considering what Venus has experienced in recent times.

"Come on, darling! Let's just go home, it's not nice to be seen by lots of people. When we get home, Daddy will explain everything from A to Z," persuaded Frans to Arumi, who still couldn't let go of his intimidating gaze.

Venus slightly raised her head, but immediately lowered her gaze again so that there wouldn't be any bigger problems than this.

It's natural for Arumi to question his identity in detail and in depth. Venus chose not to comment, at least for now.

 ***

Arriving at home. Arumi was still staring closely at Venus.

"Honey, come on! Don't be angry. Poor Venus who keeps being stared at like this. She has just recovered from her illness. Daddy doesn't want her to get sick again."

Frans persuaded. However, Arumi didn't immediately believe it. Meanwhile, Venus is still silent, letting the woman, who is not much different from her age, babble as she pleases.

"What was your name, earlier? Ve..." Arumi guessed. Frans wanted to answer, but Venus had already grabbed his words, "Venus, Miss. My name is Venus Hermansyah. Just call me Venus."

Venus officially introduced her name in front of Arumi with mixed feelings. His hand was about to be offered, but he immediately withdrew it after seeing Arumi's very unfriendly expression.

"What do you think, Daddy didn't make the wrong choice, right? Venus, a good young man, honest and hard working." Frans also praised Venus in front of Arumi so that his daughter would accept Venus.

"Hard-working and honest, huh?" Arumi stroked her chin. His eyes wandered around, continuing to watch Venus from head to ankle.

"Where does he live and who are his parents? Where did Daddy meet him?" Arumi said without taking her eyes off Venus at all.

"Daddy met Venus on the street. At that time, Daddy accidentally wanted to hit Venus," explained Frans, at least he felt hesitant to admit all this.

Arumi shifted her body, now the pair of beautiful eyes were facing directly at the man she respected so much. Frans swallowed heavily, which he feared would soon be answered.

However, before Arumi had time to interrogate further, Venus spoke up, "Daddy, Miss, you're not wrong at all," said Venus, as if she knew what Arumi was going to ask.

Frans wanted to interrupt, but he thought better of it, what's more, Arumi had already raised one hand, a sign that her daughter didn't want to be disturbed.

"Mr Frans wasn't at fault at all. I was the one who was actually at fault. At that time I almost lost consciousness as a result of being hit by five people." Venus tells the truth clearly.

"Are you a thief, so you were beaten by five people?" Arumi snapped quickly.

Venus shook her head, "That's not the story."

"Then, what's the story like? Tell me as much detail as possible and remember, don't cover up anything," threatened Arumi, raising her index finger.

Arumi also emphasized that she really doesn't like liars. It would be better for him to be friends with beggars, than rich officials whose only hobby is consuming people's money.

Venus nodded, "Don't worry, Miss. I'm not a thief or a corrupt person roaming around freely out there. I'm someone you can trust. That's if you really believe it."

Venus began to feel comfortable with the structure of her sentences, even though a feeling of fear emerged in her when she saw Arumi's expression, which was still full of alertness.

"My stepmother has done all this. She took all of my late father's property. The assets that my father had fought for for decades, now fall into the hands of someone else and not me, as his only son."

There was a curious look on the beautiful girl's face who had just arrived from Germany, "Stepmother, huh? Dad married a cruel stepmother. It's just like the lyrics of a song," Arumi mocked.

Being mocked made Venus unable to move, only nodding her head as a short answer from him.

"How about it, darling? You've heard Venus' answer, right? She's an honest person, but her luck isn't very good," said Frans in defense.

His status was indeed the head of the household there, but in front of Arumi, Frans looked more like a servant who was submissive under his master's feet. How careful Frans was in arranging his words for fear of protracted problems.

"If you look closely, he seems like an honest person, but I'm still not sure if he was beaten because of his stepmother. I mean, it could be that after being thrown out of the house, he started stealing from neighbors' houses, until finally he was beaten and "I met Daddy on the street. That could be the story, right? People nowadays have a lot of drama, Daddy. The real story can be covered up with fake tears," Arumi quipped without hiding her intention to make Venus mentally down.

Frans was stunned. Don't know what attitude to take because Arumi's thinking is too broad.

Meanwhile Venus took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.

"I've said it as it is. It's up to Miss Arumi not to believe it. I'm not forcing you to believe it, what's more, my appearance is more suitable for being called a thief, rather than an abandoned child," answered Venus, sounding soft. However, there were no tears. Instead he looked bravely at Arumi directly.

"Mr. Frans is the one who brought me here. In fact, I am not someone who has the right to be loved. You can hate and criticize me. Your actions will not bring me down mentally."

Venus continued to chatter, while Arumi listened seriously. "If Miss feels uncomfortable with my presence, that's no problem. I can leave here right now because the one who asked me to stay is Mr. Frans himself. I admit, I don't have a house to use as a shelter, but I'm not a beggar. who should be pitied..."

"For the last three years, I have worked as a construction worker and I have never returned home once. The reason is because I don't want to live under the same roof as the Witch!"

"Witch, who is she?" Arumi asked, interrupting Venus' story.

"Witch, who else if not my stepmother," said Venus in reply.

Arumi held back her lips which were about to laugh, "Then continue the story," she then asked.

A pair of blinds meet each other in a straight line. Not long after that, Venus hurriedly lowered her gaze, "I don't have any more stories to tell. Basically, I will leave here if my presence makes Miss feel uneasy."

Venus finished her sentence. There were streaks of sadness clearly visible on his innocent face. Frans won't just keep quiet. Letting go of the gold fish he was tired of fighting for.

Before Frans took any further steps, Arumi first shouted, "Wait, Venus!"

The steps that had been taken away, suddenly stopped because of the call. Venus's body turned around, her eyes met again with the owner of the beautiful face who was standing there straight.
