13: Suspicious

"What do you mean, Your Highness?" I almost sighed when the male lead released my chin.

But then, the moment Li Han lowered his eyes, he suddenly grabbed my hand. Noticing the scar, Li Han took my hand to his face, inspecting it more closely.

I don't even dare to breathe.

I watched how the corner of his lips little by little, formed a victorious smile. The hair on my neck stood on end as he let out a melodic cackle of laugh. Li Han laughed so hard as if he discovered something precious or as if he heard something very hilarious.

When Li Han stopped laughing like a bipolar person, there was the sudden chills like I was in a horror movie. 'Mom, he's scaring me!'

Li Han stared at me as he leaned forward. He had now, a sly grin on his handsome face. "Bai Suxin."

I can only stood frozen like a clueless duck. The male lead carefully stretched my index finger, then slowly seized it into his mouth.

I gasped.

"I told you, I'm going to chew you all up."

My eyes widened. Alarm bells were ringing through my head. Flinching whenever his teeth grazed the skin.

'Li Han! You're a dog! You're definitely a dog! Let go, you bastard!'

"Are you afraid of me?" He asked darkly.

'Afraid? Of course, I'm afraid! What if you go crazy and bite my finger?! Wahhhh! Crazy dog! Bastard!'

I jolted when suddenly knocks sounded from the door, followed by; "Greetings to Your Highness Nan King. His Majesty the Emperor has urgently requested your presence."

When the male lead left, I sat there like a statue. No movement at all. I can't even feel my face. I think my blood already stop circulating from shock. My body getting numb and my temperature dropped. My heart was crying.

"Lady Bai, are you okay? You look pale."

"Huh? Ah."

"What happened?" Asked Li Cha.

I gave a small smile. "I'm fine, Your Highness. Thank you for asking."

Li Cha sighed, "Lady Bai, Fourth Brother is a vicious person."

"Fourth Brother spent years of plotting on how to take revenge to all those people that hurt him in any way. He won't spare no one. Not me, not his siblings, his own family, not even you."

Li Cha put her hand on top of mine, comforting me. "He brought that Commoner here for a reason. Forget what the Prime Minister wants. You don't have to fight for the Crown Princess position."

Li Cha glanced at the ugly scar on my hand.

"We both know, Fourth Brother won't choose you to be his bride. Even though you've been nice to him since the very beginning. He's not even grateful. Instead, he hurt you."

'Me? Nice?'

"I'm afraid to leave you here. Come with me to Du Empire. I will protect you there." Just like in the novel, next month, Princess Li Cha will be send to Du Empire for marriage alliance.

"I promise the late Crown Prince brother to protect you. And never let Fourth Brother to hurt you again."

"Your Highness." My eyes watered. Even how selfish and childish this little princess, no doubt that Li Cha is really a good friend to Bai Suxin.

"Who cares about the throne? Lady Bai, people must cherish their own life."

Li Cha's right but what can I do? If I change the script again, who knows, another lives might be lost due to my interference.

"You know I can't do that, Your Highness. I must fulfill my filial duty to my parents. I must become the Crown Princess."

"Lady Bai.."

Next month, after Li Cha's departure, according to the novel, the Prime Minister House will fall. My death will finally come. 'Mom, wait for me. I'm going home.'

Due to my injury, my visits to Qixiang Palace temporarily halted. Concubine Zhi didn't mind though. She wants me to take a rest and concentrate in recovering. 'Yes, no more carriage!'

So after one quite, no vomiting week, my injury had sadly healed completely. Then the Bai couple forced me to visit the Qixiang Palace again.

My mouth kept twitching.

All of a sudden, the carriage made an abrupt stop. No doubt, if it wasn't for Jin'er, my plain pale face will embarrassingly plunge forward.

"Who dares blocked the carriage of the Bai Family?!" The voice of Lu Kai resounded from outside.

Jin'er first checked my situation then she angrily went out and faced the culprit. "Mister, how dare you offend the lady?!"

"Forgive me, my lady. My name is Chen Wu and this is Hao Ran. And we really need help. Could you please have pity and kindly send us to Xuanxiang Hospital? My subordinate is hurt and his wounds need to be treated as soon as possible."

"Who cares about your friend's life?! Move! Get out of the way! You might really lose your life if you keep offending the Prime Minister House?!"

After one hour traveling to the palace, I don't feel so well. I just want to return to the manor and rest. And just forget the plot.

But the people from outside might really need help. And as the green tea villainess character, I'm not allowed to ignore the people in need even though it's just to keep her 'sympathetic and kind image' to the public.

When Jin'er heard me, telling her to help them. She quickly disagreed. "But my lady, we don't know where they came from. They're too suspicious. They look dangerous and might harm the lady."

Jin'er was really a loyal servant of Bai Suxin. She's alert, vigilant and attentive to her master. She never put her guard down to all strangers approaching Bai Suxin.

That's why when Bai Suxin died in the novel, she attacked the female lead but of course, she failed. Her ending, the male lead cut her tongue and her feet severed. Then he threw Jin'er to Red District.

"It's okay. Just be on guard. By not helping these people we're giving our enemies a reason to criticize the Prime Minister House and we can't allow that."

"You're right, my lady."
