Declan knew that it was a serious affair when a woman said they needed to talk. He wondered what had prompted her request. Samantha could not have possibly found out about the ploy they intended to carry out. 

He packed up the few things he had come to Abigail's place with and alerted Jason, his pilot, that he was ready to go back to the island. He told Abigail that there was an urgent business meeting at home and his presence was required.
