Hannah let out the whole steam as she stepped into her hotel room. The cold bath she had just had helped the situation. She kept pondering what Kennedy had up his sleeves.
She was beginning to suspect that he did not want to harm her at all but she would not be too trusting.
She knew what so much trust had done to her in the past. The one person who had landed in so much more trouble than she had from trusting too much was Declan. She chuckled at the mere thought of it.
As she lay down for the night, Kennedy still on her mind, her phone beeped by the bedside.
She lazily picked it up and looked at the screen. It was Samson. He had sent her a message.
Hannah anticipated getting back to work when the Capetown trip finally came to an end.She was only glad that the rest of the crew had not found out about her separate room or the late-night talks with Samson. At least, Anna was still bubbly and was intent on playing the role of a perfect wife to Samson, who constantly stole glances at her.She tried to keep what they shared or seemed to share under the radar, but Kennedy was not buying into all the facade. On the flight, he had sat beside her and told her that they were making things so obvious between them, and soon, Anna might begin to suspect that they were still seeing each other."If
"You need to be more careful," Declan advised after Hannah had told him about what had just transpired."I wanted to say that you tighten the security around your house," he said. "Especially along that thicket that secluded your house," she continued. "A lot more than this might be going on there," she added.Declan let out a loud sigh as he thought about it. He looked from Hannah to the kids that clung to her sides. It was as though they understood what was going on, even if they could not. "I will do something about that, but you all will have to spend the night here, where I can have my eyes on you," he said. Samantha sauntered in just then. She was having a bath when Hannah came."Are you okay?" She asked Hannah, her voice heavily laced with concern. Hannah nodded."She will be spending the night," Declan announced to her."Oh sure," Samantha said with the least enthusiasm. Hannah noticed it in her voice. Then a thought crept into her mind. Samantha might be the one trying to
The first time he learned about the lost deal with a new client, Declan let it slide, blaming it on his sloppiness. But there was a second, and now there is a third. "This is nonsense!" He growled as he slammed the file across his table and turned to the large office windows, standing hands akimbo. "I'm sorry about it sir," Micheal mumbled. He had been standing there, speechless and oblivious of what to do at this time. Declan was more devastated because these were the clients that helped him win over at the time Louis wanted to dig sharp claws into his business. There was no doubt that they were beginning to see him as a fraud as all the contracts seemed to have fallen through. They probably thought that he had played with their intelligence and should not be trusted. He wondered who might be behind this, intent on polluting his contracts. Daniel topped the list of his suspects. Even though he was behind bars, Samantha said that he should never be given the benefit of the doubt
There was a deadly look on Declan's face when he looked up at Micheal."What did you say now?" He asked unbelievably."I said that Patricia—"Oh, I heard you quite alright," Declan said, and chuckled wryly. He was seething with anger. "Why did you not say anything, and how did she get in here?" He asked Micheal again, now pacing about angrily."I had no idea how she got the passcode, and I did not say anything because I had no idea that she would strike so soon," Micheal replied, his heart thumping wildly. He knew that he could have mentioned it earlier. Daniel was not one to be toyed with.Declan moved toward him and looked intently at him."Are you sure you are not back to your dubious ways again?" He asked Micheal, pointing a finger in his face. "Because if you are, I will make sure that you suffer the consequences of your actions," he added."I swear on my life sir," Micheal began. "I saw her on the day you all left for Capetown," he said. "I came to collect the files that you
Declan did a good job, however, in controlling his anger throughout the meeting. All he wanted to do was to punch Daniel in the face to wipe off the smirk from his face, one that made him seem like he was mocking him.Samantha tried to calm him with her eyes throughout the entire meeting. Declan started by relating the failed contracts to the board, and it resulted in so much murmurings from the members of the board. He let them have their way, as they had every right to be angry. He would have related to them the plans that he had come up with from the previous night, but he could not bring himself to do so with Daniel's face on the screen. He wondered if it was even legal to let people attend meetings from behind bars. It was obvious that the dubious young man had pulled a few strings in his favor. It was when his position as CEO was threatened that Declan spoke up, insisting that his father had handed him the company and he was in charge."We are not challenging your authority h
Hannah was exhausted as she finished up work for the day. It was Friday night, and there are usually a lot of code reds on Fridays. It usually springs from the over-excitement of the weekend.Road accidents would spring up from young people returning from school for the weekend or from a drinking spree with friends or a nightclub. She looked at her wristwatch, and her eyes widened as she saw that it was 11 p.m. already. She quickly gathered her things and headed out.As she got to the reception, she saw Kennedy. He indulged in a conversation with a young girl who looked like she was a patient's relative. She saw the young girl touch his bi
When Frank said that he was coming to see his kids, Abigail did not expect that he would come with his 'tag-along', as she usually referred to his girlfriend, who she still thought was so young, enough to be his daughter. She opened the door for him from her room as she put herself together to go downstairs. She was down in time before the children could come out of their rooms to see him.But they were faster than she was. They rushed to hug their father, and as usual, he had a gift for them. They cheered happily, and it was not about the gift, but the way he was constantly present for them."Dad, who is this lady?" Hannah reminisced on the events of two nights ago as she drove home from work. She had run the double shift today again, even if it was not in her place to do so. There was something about being in the position of leadership that she probably did not have insight into formerly. But everyone wanted her help, and in the process of offering that help, it collided with her agreed time of dismissal. Her kids had complained about it on a few occasions, but she would always come up with a great excuse for them. She would leave them in Declan's house after his driver got them from school every day. Most times, she did not bother to get them at the close of work, especially on weekends. But Liz was a capable hand, filling up the gaps for her and fitting the shoes of motherly care to her children perfectly. It made Hannah have fewer things to worry about. She had only made it to the route that led to Declan's estate before a vehicle nudged her from behind, causing her heart to race at fir
