Declan paced about the study and Samantha was almost getting dizzy watching him move from one corner of the room to the other.
"You are going to drill a hole in the floor if you don't stop pacing endlessly", she said to him.
"Something is not right Sammy, I can smell it. Daniel is up to something", he said ignoring her complaints.
"What do you think?" She asked. "Declan and Raymond are prestigious businessmen running Fintech companies", she continued. "To me, it is only normal that they do business together and sign contract deals", she added.
"I'm not talking about that", he began. "The whole association and friendship with Daniel and then Raymond being with Hannah all of a sudden seems fishy to me", he paused and looked at her.
Declan had never panicked this number of times in a short while before. He had had many reasons to be overly panicked these few days, and it was beginning to affect him.To make matters worse, the doctors would not say anything to either him or Samantha. He was going crazy with fright. This could not be the end of the road for his father whom he had just started life after so many years of disappearance. It bothered him that his father was terminally ill and now, he was worried that the condition had turned critical.Samantha tried to calm him down but he would not budge."What exactly did they say happened?" He asked her instead."He collapsed on the golf co
Declan leaned back in shock. Over the past few months, there had been a lot of shocking revelations in his life that were more than enough to handle."Where is she?" Declan asked, still gathering words to suppress his shock."You know her, Declan. You have worked with her", Ferdinand replied. He thought of women that he had worked with. No one struck him as someone that would be his mother."It is Abigail", Ferdinand finally blurted out amidst heavy breaths. The news hit Declan like a ton of bricks. He could not believe his ears. The woman had cared for him in the past and loved him like her own son, but he never had any idea that she could ever be his mother.
This was the closest to a piece of satisfying news he was hearing, and he was excited. "How did you do it?" Declan asked, his palms sweating in excitement.Samantha thought it was weird behavior and she told him about it. His hands were too sweaty."He gave us a clear opportunity and we took it", Abigail responded over the line. "I will be there first thing in the morning", Declan said."There is no need for that. Just focus on your work", she said."I want to look that bastard in the face and ask him what Hannah ever did to deserve such unfair treatment from him", he insisted."I would be expecting you then", she said, finally giving in even if she had known initi
Abigail spluttered. Some drops of her coffee landed on Declan's hands but he cared less about that at the moment. It was relieving that he had finally relayed all that was on his mind. To him, that was all that mattered."What did you just say?" She asked him."I said that Ferdinand, my father, is not dead. He is alive and well", he answered. She stared at him without blinking for a few seconds. "Then I want to see him first", she insisted, and he knew that she was still in doubt. He expected that. He expected her to doubt. He expected anybody that heard of it to doubt. He wondered how unbelievable it would sound to Daniel.<
"The nerve of him to think that he can show up from nowhere and put Raymond behind bars", Daniel muttered under his breath as he paced about the living room. Patricia looked at him with so much disgust as she tried to pacify the crying child that did not seem to stop. Over the weeks, Damian had been having a series of tooth growth that had resulted in fever episodes. Patricia had complained to Daniel about it endlessly, but it seemed as though the only person on his mind was himself. She thought he was selfish, and now, he wanted her to just sit and listen to him rant endlessly. It annoyed her. "I am going to make him pay. He will pay", he continued ignoring the cries of his child. Patricia did not know if she had married a monster in human flesh. Even the cries of a baby could not quench his thirst for a taste of Damian's blood. "And you", he began turning to Patricia. "Where is your sister?" He asked her. "I don't know", she replied almost immediately, already scared tha
Declan finally decided on a small party. He had been looking for a way to get everybody together in a kind of celebration. He thought of dinner but later decided that it would be too formal, and they would not be able to host everyone at a single dinner table. The party was the best. When he asked Samantha about what she thought of it, she had given him her full approval, though she suggested that it should be strictly by invitation and that there were not going to be photos or phones. This was one of the things that fascinated him about her. She knew the theatrics of the firm. She knew they worked underground both literally and otherwise, not because they ran an illegal business, but because they
"What?!" Declan blurted out into the phone. It was unbelievable. Nobody knew where the safe house was located except an insider had given them prior information."I am so sorry sir. I don't know how it happened", Micheal said, his voice trembling."Any casualties?" Declan asked. "How bad is it?" He added. There was a brief silence bed Micheal spoke again. Declan listened attentively. He could hear the voice of someone in the background, but it was more of a ruffle. He ignored it."They took some of the girls, about three of them, two are dead and the rest are injured", Micheal answered in detail. It was as though he was reading from a book."Do you have any idea wh
Declan caught her in time just before she landed on the floor. Her face was pale and she let out labored breathing. He took the phone from her hand. She tried to say something but she could barely talk. She was losing a lot of energy and soon, she would pass out.Abigail had already called an ambulance and the paramedics were already in the house. They took the girl from his hands. His hands were filled with blood, and it made him tremble. Abigail assisted him to the bathroom to wash up. He thought of where he had seen the face of the girl before. She bore a striking resemblance with someone that he knew.As he washed his hands in the bathroom sink, a thought crossed his mind. That was Raymond's old girlfriend, Anne.
