The moment a snake entered, earthen walls rose and squashed it into pulp, waking up Edgar.

He looked at his sister. “What’s that sound?”

“Nothing,” Fabby said. “Just practicing a little.”

“Right now?” Edgar shook his head. “Do it outside. Not here.” Saying that he closed his eyes.

Fabby picked up the dead snake and sent it into her inventory. “I saw a silhouette, but I couldn’t see their face,” she thought. “This snake was probably released by them, but why? Is it someone sent by Elder Kessai again?” she frowned. “I should have told the patriarch about it. I didn’t remember the ongoing issue back then.”

She sat down on her bed and stayed awake, waiting for any possible dangers. She could have swallowed some beast cores and tried to absorb them, but that would shift her focus, and she didn’t want that. After all, there was no telling when someone else might attack them.
