Chapter 9 : Fire Element

Darren and Cassie looked at each other with similar facial expressions, bulging eyes and half open mouths. Nail suddenly clapped his hands, making all pairs of eyes immediately look at the hairless youth. Nail's action was followed by the others.

The master who saw his protégé so enthusiastically welcoming him was immediately taken aback, especially when he was greeted so enthusiastically with applause and admiring glances. Not that he had never felt this way, it was just that this time the master experienced another, more turbulent feeling.

"Gaby, Domes, distribute the books to your friends, one child gets one book, and so do you two."

Gaby nodded enthusiastically. "Ready master, carry it out immediately. Come on Domes!"

Domes followed behind Gaby after giving the master a smile. Next, they began to distribute the books of materials as the master had said.

"No need to be afraid of not getting one, everyone gets one, I've counted them," the master said from the front.

"Ready master!" Nail called out from his place, his hand having just gotten the book he had quickly grabbed from Domes.

"After everyone gets a book, come closer, sit in front of me as usual."

The master's words were quickly followed by the 12 students. They sat in neat rows, with four students in a row. Darren sat next to Nail and Cassie, at the back of the row.

All eyes did not move from the master, they were still in awe and wondering to themselves. The reason is, the master is sitting on a ball of fire. How could that be? Darren wanted to know how, the master had surprised all his students.

"I bet Master Jael will teach us how to sit on a ball of fire, that's the fire element we're going to learn today." Nail whispered right in front of Darren's ear.

"I was thinking the same thing," Darren replied, "but we'll see how it goes."

"I'm so impatient, you know that?" Cassie rubbed her hands together, a look of excitement on her face.

Not only Cassie, but all her other friends were also very excited. All of the 4th year students hadn't taken their eyes off the master since just now.

Master Jael was a man in his late thirties. His body was large and stout, his face was very handsome, Master Jael was very powerful, and he was the youngest master among the 5 masters in the fire training camp.

Master Jael had eyes as sharp as an eagle's, long black hair, two thick eyebrows that framed his features, and his jaw was covered with fine hairs that the women of the Fire Clan loved. Master Jael was so charming, it was impossible not to be captured by him.

Master Jael brought his hands together, his eyes now closed. Then, in a matter of seconds, the large fireball he was sitting on broke apart, and the master swiftly stood up. The fireball had vanished, melted into nothingness.

The action drew hysterical exclamations from his students. Master Jael smiled, clapping softly.

"How did it go, my children? You've seen that, haven't you? That's our material today, the elements I'm going to teach you," said the master.

Nail nudged Darren's body. "Well, what did I tell you, the master has given spoilers, so we can guess easily."

Darren only glanced at Nail as he smiled and nodded his head, then returned his focus to staring ahead. Everyone was, of course, listening to what the master was saying.

"Master, how do I do what the master did earlier?" Domes asked as he raised his hand. Domes was a teenage boy, only seventeen years old. He was one of the youngest in the level 4 training camp apart from Gaby.

Domes was quick to absorb the material, he was smart and tough, and Darren also recognized that. Domes deserved to be in Tier 4, he was a great student for making it to Tier 4. When Darren was Domes' age, he was still at level 3.

Master Jael looked at Domes. "Your question isn't quite right Domes, you should be asking how to make a fireball so big that it can be sat on. That's what I'm going to teach you. How to make it, not how to ride it. Do you understand?"

Domes blinked his eyes, and he said again, "Sorry master, does that mean we are only taught to make fireballs that can be ridden on? We are not allowed to ride?"

"Right, that's it."

Cassie clucked her tongue. "Master, why not teach us how to ride the fireball as well? Why do you have to make it. It's not fun, and I'm really excited to ride." Cassie's lips curled into a frown, and the girl's words were agreed upon by her friends. Everyone agreed with Cassie.

"Cassie is right master, wouldn't it be too much if we just made a big fireball? Why don't we go for a ride?" Nail exclaimed.

Master Jael clapped his hands. "Kids, listen up, pay close attention to what I'm saying, everyone face this way." When he had all of his students' attention, Master Jael continued. "Making a fireball like that won't be easy, I can guarantee you that." You will find difficulties, just a little mistake, and everything will fail."

Everyone listened carefully.

Master Jael took one step forward. "Well, how can you ride that thing if it's hard to make? Believe me, you won't be able to make it right away. Therefore, before you can sit there, we first learn how to make it, we learn it one by one, step by step. Later, there will be a time when you will be able to climb on it. Do you understand? Do you have any questions?"

Everyone did not respond. The master pressed his lips together. "Alright, I assume you have understood. Now we start the material. You've got your books, now turn to page 472."

Darren opened the book that was already on his lap. The book was huge and precise, he looked for the page the master had just mentioned.

"Gaby!"

Gaby immediately stared forward, highlighting the face of master Jael who had just said her name. "Yes master?"

"I need you to read me the title on the page I just mentioned. Right now!"

Gaby cleared her throat softly. "How to make, ride, and control a fireball that can be sat on without causing pain."

The master gave Gaby a thumbs-up, then Master Jael cast a glance at the other students.

"Ah, Darren!"

Startled at the mention of his name, Darren was a little taken aback, immediately looking up from the book he was reading. "Y-yes master? Can I help you?"

"Read the title of chapter one."

"Okay." Darren sat up straight, then he spelled out the letters in the book. "Chapter one, how to make a fireball that can be ridden."

"Good, well that's what we're going to learn now. I'll give you all time to read the material up to page 493. Ten minutes is enough, and really read it this time. No messing around, you read-"

Master Jael's words were interrupted when a very loud voice was heard, making the ears hurt.
