Samson and Nelly were the only ones awake while the others were still unconscious. Samson went to the door to try and get it open while Nelly watched over their friends. They were all breathing heavily and sweating in their sleep so Nelly used his jacket as a fan to cool them off.
"I don't understand how this door got stuck and why it refuses to open!" Samson complained and kicked the door in anger.
"Whatever's messing with us doesn't want us to leave this place," Nelly said to Sam from where he sat.
"Nothing is messing with us, Nelly. I already told you that we were all just probably exposed to some sort of chemical that made us have those hallucinations." Samson said.
"And what chemical would that be? Joker gas? This place is haunted and you know it." Nelly said loudly to Samson.
"This place isn't haunted, Nelly," Sam replied. Nelly's behaviour was starting to get on his nerves.
"Yes, it is. Think about it, Sam! The door is locked shut and you can't open it, our phones have absolutely no signal so we can't call or text anyone for help and I saw a demon. This place IS haunted. We woke something up in this place, now it's out to get us and it won't stop." Nelly said with a weird look, also like the fear was slowly making him lose his mind.
Samson got tired of trying to convince him and continued trying to open the door. He kicked the handle a few times but it didn't even have a scratch. He even hit the glass panels on the door but they didn't break which surprised him because when they first arrived, Darryl had used a rock to break the panel to stick his hand in and open the lock.
"Why... won't...you...open?" Samson screamed at the door and kicked it several times. Samson then noticed his reflection on the glass but it wasn't his face, it was Jamie's. He squinted his eyes together and rubbed them with his hands and when he looked at the glass a second time, it was his own face staring back.
"Sam!" Nelly called out which scared Samson because the image of Jamie's face was still on his mind.
"I think Peace is waking up...and so is Jennifer!" Nelly said happily.
Samson ran to them and held on to Peace. He began shaking her a little bit to help her wake up.
"Peace? Can you hear me? Wake up Peace." He said to her, Her eyes flickered open and she smiled at him.
"Samson? Is that you?' She managed to ask. She seemed very tired and her voice was low in volume.
"Yes, it's me, Peace. I'm right here." Samson said soothingly to her and stroked her hair softly.
"Darryl, he attacked me." She said to him,
"Darryl didn't attack you Peace. It was all just an illusion, it wasn't real." Samson said to her although a part of him wasn't so sure about it all being an illusion.
Nelly went over to Jennifer and also tried to help her wake up.
"Hey, J-Lo! Looks like you weren't the last to wake up this time." Nelly teased her as soon as she opened her eyes.
"Nelly?" Jennifer asked in confusion.
"Yeah, it's me. Are you okay?" Nelly asked.
"My mom...She was a giant and she stepped on me." Jennifer said drowsily.
"You're alright now. It was all just a dream." Nelly said to calm her although he knew it was more than just a dream.
Just then, Darryl also woke up but unlike the girls, he woke up screaming, completely shaken and terrified.
"Darryl? Darryl, relax man. It's okay, you're fine." Samson said to him, trying to calm him down.
"The snake? Where's the snake?" Darryl asked hysterically.
"What snake Darryl? There's no snake here, there never was a snake." Samson had his hands out and tried to hold Darryl but he pushed him away.
"I know what I saw. It was a big snake and it sounded exactly like my dad. It bit me and strangled me and then, it began to swallow me whole." Darryl said with his hands on his head.
Peace and Jennifer were helped to their feet by Nelly and Darryl finally got a grip when he saw his girlfriend.
"Jennifer, you're alright," he said, "I thought something bad had happened to you." And he gave her a hug.
"What happened to us guys? Why did we see all those horrible things?" Peace asked.
"I think we inhaled some kind of ga..." Samson began to say when Nelly caught him off.
"We're being haunted by whatever ghost we awoke in this place," Nelly said and they all stared at him as if he was insane.
"Y'all don't look at me like I'm crazy! I know what I'm talking about." Nelly fought his case.
"Look Nels, I admit what happened to us is weird but ghosts, seriously?" Peace said to him, clearly not sharing his opinion about a ghost haunting them.
"Okay then, answer me this. In your dreams, nightmares, illusions, whatever you want to call it, you were all in danger, right?" Nelly asked.
The others stared at each other and nodded affirmatively.
"Okay, and what did you see? Who or what did you see?" Nelly asked again.
They were all silent until Darryl spoke out, "I saw my Dad, or at least I heard him." He said.
"I saw Jamie," Samson admitted.
"I saw my mom," Jennifer said as well.
"I saw... Darryl!" Peace said and stared at him. He looked at her as well.
"Good for all of you. You saw and heard your friends and families unlike me. I didn't see my mom or my Pops or any of you. I saw what looked like a demon straight outta hell." Nelly said to them.
"You saw a demon?" Jennifer asked sarcastically, clearly not believing him or at least, believing that what he saw was real.
"Yeah, I did. It was huge and slimy. It had huge fangs and long claws and I think it had a tail but I'm not sure." He described the monster. Nelly then realized that the guys all had a look of terror on all their faces but he didn't understand why.
"Was the demon you saw wearing a torn shirt?" Peace asked with fear in her eyes and her voice.
"Yes, it was," Nelly replied.
"And were its eyes red?" Samson asked, also looking completely terrified.
"Yes, its eyes were glowing bright red but, how do you know that and why do you all look so scared?" Nelly asked them, oblivious to what stood behind him.
"Because it's right behind you," Darryl told him.
"What? What do you mean it's right behind..." Nelly was asking but the low growl of the beast made him quiet. The creature roared at him and Nelly screamed in fear and ran over to his friends.
They all began to move away from the creature to the door of the house. The beast shrieked and snarled, gnashing its teeth and clawing at them. It looked hungry and they were definitely on its menu.
They all backed off to the door and tried desperately to open it. Darryl and Samson were hitting the door with their shoulders, trying to break it but were unsuccessful.
The creature got closer and grabbed Jennifer's arm. Her friends all held on to her, trying to pull her back to them but the creature was strong and refused to let go. Darryl picked up an old broomstick on the floor and began hitting the creature multiple times. He hit it on the face and the creature got angry and snatched the broom away from Darryl and threw it across the room.
It seemed like this was the end of them as the creature got ready to rip them apart. That was when Nelly summoned enough courage to pick up the old broom. He took out the matches from his pocket and lit the broom on fire, waving it towards the creature in an attempt to scare it away.
"Get away from us, you freak of nature." He said while waving the lit broom. The creature roared in anger and what seemed to look like fear. The flames were clearly upsetting it and it ran away into the other parts of the house.
The group held themselves in complete fear, baffled by what they just saw and wondering what the hell was going on.
"What was that thing?" Jennifer asked, holding tightly to Darryl.
"That was the devil that's haunting us. Do you still think it's all just an illusion?" Nelly asked.
"This is crazy! This is not possible. That thing shouldn't be possible." Jennifer ranted.
"It clearly was and it's out to get us," Samson said back.
"Nelly, give me the broom," Darryl asked and Nelly handed the fiery broom to him. "The fire seems to be a weakness for the monster so we have to keep it going so it doesn't come back."
"We're going to have to burn a few things to keep the fire going," Samson mentioned and moved closer to some of the old furniture that could burn easily.
"Really Sam? You want to burn more stuff in this place?" Peace said disapprovingly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Samson asked, feeling that she meant more with what she just said.
"This all started after you dared Nelly to light that stupid box on fire and now you want to burn more things." Peace replied, admitting that she thought everything that was happening to them was Sam's fault.
"You're blaming me for this? How do you know for certain that lighting that box on fire is the reason we're trapped here and being hunted by that thing?" Samson asked defensively.
"Enough guys! We can't be fighting with ourselves. We have to survive the night and the only way to do that is to work together and keep this fire going." Darryl cut in.
They stopped arguing and began breaking apart the furniture and tossing the wood into the fire. After the fire grew larger, they all sat in a circle around it, holding on to each other for warmth and protection. Despite the fire, the temperature of the room was freezing in a very unnatural way.
Jennifer sat with Darryl, holding hands with head on shoulder. Nelly sat in between Peace and Samson who were still upset with each other for playing the blame game earlier. They didn't know how long they would be here, or how long the fire would stay on. They didn't have a plan and they all felt like they were sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered.
"Yo J-Lo, did you bring anything to eat in your backpack? I'm starving." Nelly suddenly said.
"Yeah me too." Peace added.
"There are some brownies in the bag," Jennifer said.
"Brownies? Did you lace em?" Nelly asked, not wanting to have any drugs in his system so he could think with a clear head.
"No, I didn't. They're just regular brownies." Jennifer clarified.
Nelly got out of the circle and went to pick up the bag. He heard a low growl come from the dark of the house and saw two red glowing eyes that disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Nelly immediately went back to the circle, near the safety of the fire.
"Guys, I think beast boy is still watching us," Nelly told everyone, looking a bit panicked.
"If it could come after us, it would have by now. It's scared of the fire so as long as it's lit, it can't get us." Darryl said, having figured out that fire repels the monster.
"Get the brownies out before I die of hunger," Jennifer said while cupping her stomach. She also was very hungry, they all were.
"You decided to bring us to the middle of nowhere to spend the night partying and having a good time and all you brought for food, is a few brownies?" Nelly said to Jennifer as he took out the brownies from the backpack in an attempt to criticize her.
"I brought more stuff for us to eat but we left them in the car and now we can't go outside to go get them," Jennifer said.
"If we can get outside, it'll be to get the hell out of here and not to get more snacks." Peace said angrily and snatched a piece of brownie from Nelly.
They all shared the snack and ate together in silence, with defeated looks on their faces and their heads and shoulders drooped. They could hear the sounds of crickets chirping, owls hooting and the wings of bats flapping but they tried their hardest to remain calm.
"This is going to be a very long night," Samson mentioned.
"It seems that way but if we can make it to morning, then we're surely going to be able to get out of this place," Darryl said optimistically.
"Didn't you bring any water?" Nelly asked after emptying the bag on the floor.
"I brought only alcohol and we drank it all already," Jennifer said smugly.
"You couldn't bring water but you thought that bringing scary Christmas storybooks was a better idea?" Nelly said again and held up one of the books.
"Hey, back off Nels. Jenny's not your Mama alright, so could you stop hassling her about your lack of food and water?" Darryl said defensively.
"Ok, fine," Nelly said with one hand in the air.
Peace suddenly noticed something on the cover of the book in Nelly's hand. "Give me that!" She said and snatched the book from Nelly's hand. She stared at the cover with extreme focus and everyone wondered what she was looking at.
"What is it? What's on the cover?" Nelly asked her.
"What does this wolf on the cover of this book look like to you guys?" Peace asked and showed them the book.
The Christmas book was titled "Consequences" and it had the picture of a monster on the cover, a monster that looked a whole lot like the same one that was haunting them.
"That's the beast that attacked us!" Nelly said in realization.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." Peace said.
"Guys, do you know what this means? If this creature in this book is the same one that's after us, that means whatever is written in here isn't just a story, it's probably true." Samson said with a sparkle in his eyes.
"Yes, you're right. And this book could give us a clue about what we're dealing with."
"And how to survive the night." Darryl and Jennifer said respectively.
"Where did you get this book, Jennifer?" Samson asked her.
"It's been in my house for years but I never read it. I only brought it along for entertainment." Jennifer said.
"Well then, what are you waiting for, Peace? Open it up and start reading." Nelly said excitedly.
Maybe the book really did have all the answers to their problems and they all hoped it did.
Peace opened up the horror book and on the first page, it wrote:"This is the life's tale of Kristokulos, the demon that haunts the spirit of Christmas in its anger of being separated from his own family on Christmas day. He infects your mind and uses the things you love as a weapon against you, showing you your deepest fears and bringing them to life."."Go on! Keep reading. We have to find out more about this thing and what it wants." Jennifer told Peace and she continued reading and flipped the cover to the next page."But Kristokulos wasn't always an angry demon. He was once an ordinary man who loved his family but his one moment of weakness and desperation condemned him for all eternity, making him the monster that he is today."THE STORY BEGINSOnce upon a time, in the days of old. There lived a hardworking woodcarver name, Kristopher. He had a wife named Nalia and two beautiful daughters and they were his entire world. Kristopher was not a wealthy man so he had to work really
A wise man once said that no matter how hard things get, how hopeless the situation is, how futile all your efforts seem, as long as you have hope in your heart, you can scale through every obstacle and overcome the greatest of setbacks. That is kind of what Christmas is all about. It's about scaling through the problems the year brought your way and celebrating your triumph at the end of it, knowing that life tried to knock you down but you stayed strong and got through it with the closest people in your life by your side. This is the true spirit of Christmas. But, unfortunately for Darryl, his year hadn't come to an end and he was still living through the horrors that came with it."Nelly? Nelly?" Darryl called out. He took out the flashlight and turned it on but the light was flickering on and off until it stayed off.A faceless figure lingered in the shadows watching him while he struggled with the flashlight. The figure had a mouth on its face but it had no eyes, nose, or ears.
Trapped in a haunted house, attacked by a hungry monster, stalked and tormented physically and mentally and now, a friendly spirit appears. It seemed too good to be true and the guys weren't so quick to trust the words of the spirit of Carl Worthington."How do we know that you're really here and not another figment of our imaginations?" Samson asked the spirit cautiously."Since you awoke Kristokulos, have you all ever had the same illusions at the same time?" Carl asked. The boys looked at each other in the realization that they hadn't. Whenever the monster attacked their minds, he did it individually and not all together."If you are indeed Carl Worthington, why are you here? Why aren't you in the spirit world or the afterlife or whatever?" Nelly asked."A good question! Let me explain." Carl said and began.Suddenly, the room transformed back to the way it was all those years ago. As Carl narrated the events of the past, he also provided visuals and the boys could see everything a
Darryl had been a victim of his father's occasional punches for four whole years. His mother died in the hospital, after fighting cancer for five years. Darryl and his dad became inseparable after her death. They did everything together, they shared everything and they spent a lot of time with each other. But, as all things must, they began to change as Darryl got older. He became more interested in spending time with his friends and being a rebel than spending time with his old man.Darryl was thirteen the first time his father ever hit him. He had come home late that night after going over to a friend's place to smoke weed. After he came home, his father was very upset that he was so late and became even more furious when he smelled the marijuana on his breath. His father scolded him heavily and Darryl was so high that he said some distasteful things which prompted his father to angrily strike him and beat him up.The next day, the neighbours noticed Darryl's injuries sustained from
The kids all stood frightened, listening to Carl as he told them who Mara Anjonu was and what her purpose was in this situation. "When Madame Constance cursed Kristopher, she wanted to make sure that the curse could never be broken by anyone. She was so insulted by Kristopher's rejection that she wanted to punish him for all eternity. So she did a terrible thing, something that all practitioners of witchcraft know is forbidden; She summoned a demon from the underworld." "Mara Anjonu?" Samson asked "Yes Master Samson, Mara Anjonu, the faceless demon. She's one of the most loyal servants of Lucifer. Mara Anjonu was summoned by Madame Constance to be a protector of the curse, to stand in the way of anyone who attempts to break it, and to steal their faces." "Steal our faces? Is that what she did to Peace?" Nelly asked. "Yes, Master Nelly. Mara Anjonu is also known as The Stealer Of Faces. She comes to the land of the living and steals faces from men, women and children altogether. S
"These are the weapons you were telling us about?" Darryl asked Carl in surprise."Yes, Master Darryl," Carl replied."But these are just knives, spears, axes and swords," Samson said and lifted one knife. He put down the flaming piece of wood because the torches were on and the fire slowly went out."Yes! These are some of the best weapons you'll ever find." Carl said."Oh, Carl! It seems you've been dead for so long you didn't know that weapons have advanced a whole lot since your time." Darryl said."Have they now?" Carl lifted a brow."Oh yeah, they have. But I guess we'll have to make do with these. At least they're better than a metal rod and some sticks." Darryl said."And they'll do a much better job in killing Kristokulos," Samson added. They packed up as many weapons as they needed and wrapped them up and were ready to return.Suddenly, one of the torches that hung on the wall went out, much to everyone's surprise, even Carl's and his magic was what kept the torches on."Carl
Darryl woke up on the floor of the basement, covered in sweat and claw marks on his shirt. He was breathing heavily like he had just run a marathon. He checked himself for bites or wounds but he had absolutely none yet his clothes were ripped and it seemed like it was by the claws of an animal; Cerberus. He looked around and saw Samson on the floor as well. He was in one piece and not dead. Darryl was so relieved. He noticed that Samson was still in a dreamlike state. He was shaking like he was having a nightmare that he could not wake up from.Darryl ran to him, limping as he did so and tried to pull him out of the illusion."Samson! Wake up, man." He said while shaking him.Samson wasn't responding. He was probably still battling with Cerberus in the illusion or maybe he was in a new one. But one thing was certain, he needed to wake up."Sam! Come on, snap out of it!" Darryl shouted again but Samson still stayed sleeping."Sam!" Darryl shouted again and punched him in the face and S
√√ If I die on this narrow road √√ Tell the story of my bravery Let the world know I fought Let them sing songs for me For I walk into battle Not knowing if I'll return But don't your heart be worried √√ For my battle will be won √√ Nelly sang the song out loud as they all prepared to go to the crypt. They were gearing up, making improvised versions of shields and sword straps with the materials they could find."That's a beautiful song, Nelly. Where did you hear it from?" Jennifer asked him."My Dad wrote it. He used to sing it to me every night before he put me to bed. He named it after me; Nelly Wins His Battle, he called it." Nelly said with sadness, remembering something that used to bring him joy until his father abandoned him for his other family."Did you ever speak to him again, after he left?" Jennifer asked."No, and why would I? He obviously didn't care ab
The next night, Cornelius Primo was ready to fly out to the gravesite that Gable’s men had found so he could get the most important piece of the puzzled for his plans to finally move forward. He had gotten dressed in his father’s cloak, an article of clothing that he had never worn since he killed his father. Gable came into his chambers, “Alpha, the chopper is ready,” He said. “Then, let’s get going,” Primo said. They both walked out of the house and onto the yard together. When they reached outside, five more men, including the pilot were already inside the spinning helicopter and they were going to accompany him just in case he needed some extra muscle. There was also a young woman in the helicopter with a bag over her head. Her hands and feet were tied up with ropes and she was also unconscious. “Is that the virgin?” Primo asked before stepping in. “That’s her,” Gable answered. Primo and Gable climbed in and the pilot hovered them off the ground and into the sky. They headed
Gable was in the underground section of the Mudders Estate and was supervising the final touches that were being made to the giant bunker deep within the soil. He had a grin on his face because he knew that it was almost time for the real plan to be kicked in motion. J came running up the stairs so he could give Gable some information about the progress of the dome. “Gable, I’ve got good news from the engineers,” J said to him. “And…” Gable asked. “It’s complete. As of now, the dome is officially complete,” J said with a proud smile on his face. “…which means that it’s time to have some real fun,” Gable said with a menacing smile. The Gemini wolf got out from the ground and went back up to the surface. He walked into the mansion so he could give the good news to his Alpha. He reached the Alpha’s chambers and walked into the room without even knocking. When he got in, he found Cornelius Primo inside his communication room filled with computers having a meeting with his high beta
PARIS A YEAR LATER “Au revoir, Jacqueline. Get home safe, alright?” A man said to his worker who had just left his bakery for the night. “Will do, Monsieur Henri. See you tomorrow,” She said as she walked away. It was late in the evening and a lot of businesses were closed. The streets were dark but thanks to the glow of the street lamps, there was enough light for Jacqueline to move around. She walked through the streets of Rue de Rivoli and she hummed to herself as she walked. As she was walking, she suddenly had this feeling that someone was following her. She turned to check but there was no one behind her. She felt maybe it was just her nerves for having left work so late tonight so she kept walking. Some distinct shadow suddenly ran past her from behind and she felt the wind. She gasped and turned around again but still, there was no one. Jacqueline was getting scared because she could feel that she was being stalked. The streets were empty and she was all alone so there w
Maximus found himself walking on an empty field and all he could see all around him was the green carpet grass. There was no one else and nothing else in sight, just the green.Nothing about where he was felt real but yet, he could feel the heat of the sun. He could feel the coolness of the breeze on his skin and he could smell the grassy aroma coming off the leaves. "Where am I?" He asked himself as he continued walking. Then, he spotted something just up ahead, something different about this place. He walked further until he saw it better. There was a section of the grass that was dried up and grey and it made a circle within all the green. Inside the circle, there was a tombstone on the ground and it had Allison's name written on it.Maximus saw her name and stopped walking. He stopped with his foot mere inches away from the grey grass. His eyes watered up and his brows flared together when he remembered his dead mate. He didn't want to be here because he was being reminded of som
"For so long, I have imagined this moment. I have played it out in my head what seeing you again would be like. I will admit that when I envisioned this moment, I was always scared of you. Even after I became a Witch, I was still afraid of just the thought of you because of how much you messed me up as a person. I have battled all sorts of things, all sorts of abominations that would leave even the strongest Witch emotionally scarred for life and I didn't feel a thing but with you, I would have nightmares and I would sometimes blink and in that quarter of a second of darkness, I would see your face and it would terrify me," Peace said to Constance."Aw, I left an impression on you," Constance said condescendingly, almost like she was making fun of Peace."You did," Peace admitted, "For so long, I tried to be the best Witch I could be just so I wouldn't end up like you. Everyone always raised their brows about me because I inherited your powers and they felt like I was doomed to go dow
The young vampire sat in a dark corner in Jorish's living room and was sobbing because she was so terrified by what was happening to her. She didn't want to believe that she was now a soulless blood-sucking monster but all the clues were pointing out that she was but she didn't want to accept it.The sound of her weeping started annoying Jorish who couldn't focus on the book she was reading. She started to rethink letting the girl out of the dungeon and played with the idea of putting her back but, for some reason she couldn't quite put her finger on, Jorish decided to converse with her instead. She closed her book and spun her chair around to face the vampire."You've been making that sound for almost twenty minutes now. Are you even shedding any tears?" Jorish asked her."I don't know why nothing's coming out," She said and rubbed her face but there were no tears even though she was really crying."Yeah, that's because vampires can't produce tears," Jorish said."I'm not a vampire,"
Maximus went to the lake around the mansion, to the same spot where he had kissed Allison for the first time after they imprinted. He sat by the lake and remembered that moment as one of the happiest he had ever felt and it made him even sadder that she was gone and he would never feel that way again.Whenever the mate of a werewolf died, he or she would have to get over their death mentally and emotionally before they would be able to mate again. If the werewolf isn't able to heal from the loss, they'll remain without an imprint for the rest of their lives, unable to find their mate to complete their existence. Maximus wasn't an ordinary werewolf; he was a True-born, True Alpha and he was strong not just physically but mentally as well. He knew he could get over Allison's death. All he needed was time but at this moment, it felt almost impossible to not feel the pain and the emptiness left by her absence. It hurt more than the injuries he had sustained at Primo's hands and all he co
With their tails behind their legs, the Saviours did the walk of shame after crossing through the hex and getting out of the car they had stolen from the concert. It was clear from the way they walked back to the mansion that they were defeated and it would take a while before they were back to full force because they had suffered a crushing defeat tonight.Jess and Aliyah were the first to go into the house. They turned around to see if Maximus wanted some company but he gestured at them to go and get some rest, signalling that he'd be fine. They did as he said and went upstairs to their room while Maximus kept walking and headed to the back of the house. Mira didn't think it was a good idea to leave Maximus alone at this time because she remembered how impulsive he could be. He hadn't been impulsive for a long time but the amount of loss they had suffered today could make him do something crazy so she decided to follow him to whatever part of the house he was going to.While she fol
PEACE'S POV...The amount of chaos and loss that occurred on this night was unlike anything I had ever witnessed. So many people turned while others died from the bites, their systems unable to handle the process of the change and their lives got altered forever because of one werewolf's delusion for power. Why did the vampires even do this? Why today of all days? So many things were out of order and it felt so unreal. I knew something was coming but I never once suspected that this could ever happen to the world on my watch. I never expected it to get to this point but it did and it came at a cost that I could have prevented but because of the Witcher's Law, I could only sit by and watch as the chaos ensued.Maximus Cullen, his Luna and his betas had suffered a crushing loss at the hands of Cornelius Primo and his Mudders and they weren't even able to stop his plans. They always knew their lives were in danger when they took it upon themselves to fight the Alpha Mudder but now, th
