That evening, Mira prepared some deer meat barbecue for them to eat for dinner and they ate together on the porch of the cabin."Thanks for the meal. It was delicious." Maximus said graciously."Stop lying. I'm a terrible cook. Francis was the chef in our pack. He was the oldest and wisest of us and always tried to teach me how to cook but I was never interested." She said and took a sip of her beer."It sounds like you were pretty close to him," Maximus said when he noticed the slight change in her tone. It was less harsh and more sombre."Yeah, I was. He was the one that turned me and he saved my life in doing so." Mira said. There was a short silence between the both of them for a little while. They just stared at the forest in front of them while they ate and drank."So, tell me about you!" Mira suddenly said."What do you wanna know?" Maximus replied."What were your intentions with the human girl? Were you planning on killing her or turning her?" She asked."What? No, of course
While Mira and Maximus stared at the map on the table, wondering where to go so they could look for more lone wolves, Leon went deer hunting. They had been deliberating on it for two days straight, not sure of where to begin their search."Look Maximus, there are a lot of packs all over America but we need to recruit wolves that have been affected by Primo's war which means we have to search within here in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina. Those are the closest cities and they are the only ones that have been affected by The Muller's revolt." Mira said while reading the map."Ok, but where do we even begin? We can't just go around from pack to pack, looking for wolves to join our cause. We don't know which of these packs have sworn allegiance to Cornelius Primo." Maximus said with concern.Just then, Leon returned with a buck around his shoulders. He entered the cabin and went into the kitchen and placed the deer on the table. He came back out and asked what progre
A werewolf could become an Alpha in exactly three ways; By killing another Alpha and taking his power, the descendance of an Alpha who willingly gives his power to another werewolf, OR by achieving a rare level of supernatural upliftment and becoming an Alpha on your own; a true Alpha.Cornelius Primo was meant to become the Alpha of the Mudders after his father stepped down which wasn't supposed to be for another fifty years. He was overly ambitious and power hungry so he killed his father with his own hands and became the Alpha. But, his ambitions didn't stop there. He wanted more power, more territory and more werewolves so, he had his betas turn more humans into wolves and added them to his army. When he had enough werewolves, he began his war against the other packs. One after the other, he killed other Alphas who refused to pledge allegiance to him, taking their strength and power and controlling their packs, the ones that survive at least...."Oh Benjamin, I gave you a chanc
"Hold up a for a second! You're telling me that this pack we're trying to assemble doesn't have an Alpha?" Jess said angrily."We won't need one. We'll gather enough wolves and take the fight to The Mullers and I'm sure when the other packs see us taking a stand, they'll be encouraged to join the fight." Maximus assured her."Oh sure, of course! Silly me. A werewolf pack doesn't need an Alpha. What was I thinking?" Jess said sarcastically and kicked away some furniture in the motel room in anger."Relax Jess!" Mira said to her."No don't ask me relax! I gave up the vampires' protection because you both told me that you had a plan and now you say our pack won't have an Alpha. How the hell are we supposed to fight and win against the Mullers if we don't have a heart? Because that's what an Alpha is to a pack; their heart. And without that heart, the pack loses it's strength, it's courage, it's will, it's spirit and the members become lost, and broken, living an empty life without a purp
Leon and Maximus took the kid back to the cabin with them. He still hadn't told them who he was or why he was working for the Mudders but it was obvious that he was forced to.Mira was asleep by the time the guys returned and so was Jess, but their sense of smell was strong enough to catch the scent of another wolf even in their sleep. They both woke up and went downstairs just as Leon, Maximus, and the kid were coming in."And who's this supposed to be?" Jess asked the guys."A potential recruit," Maximus replied.Mira took in a whiff of the air and could smell Mudders on Maximus."Why do you smell like those filthy Mullers?" She asked."I fought some of them and took their clothes." He explained.Leon excused himself from the living room and walked to the back of the house and Maximus decided to go speak with him."Just give me a second! And don't take your eyes off the kid. He's got some explaining to do." Maximus said and walked away."Sit!" Mira ordered the kid and he sat down.M
The next morning, Mira and Maximus woke up in each other's arms on the forest floor. The sun was already up and it cascaded over their naked bodies."Good morning!" Maximus said to Mira with a smile."Morning," Mira replied and quickly got up and began putting on her clothes."We have to head back to the cabin. Leon and Jess might be thinking that something bad had happened to us." She said."Yeah, you're right." Maximus agreed. He got up as well and put on his clothes.Mira grabbed the dead stag and was about to start walking when Maximus grabbed her arm, pulling her towards him."You seem a bit distant this morning. Don't tell me you regret what happened between us last night?" Maximus asked, his warm breath hitting her cheeks."Of course, I don't regret it. It was the most pleasure I've felt in a while," she said and gave him a quick yet tender kiss, "But we need to get back." She finished.Maximus let go of her arm and they walked back to the cabin..."Jess! There they are." Leo
Cornelius Primo stood in front of his destroyed warehouse, steaming with anger.Gable walked up behind him to give him some information about what happened."Alpha, one of the guards was able to give me some information before he died. It's just as you suspected. The warehouse was destroyed by Maximus Cullen and Mira River, along with some other werewolves." Gable informed."It seems I've been too complacent about those two. I assumed they wouldn't be such thorns in my flesh. It's about time we take care of them, permanently." Primo said to Gable."And how do we do that?" Gable asked."Call the hounds. It's time for them to go hunting," Primo replied...."Put some pressure on it!" Mira said to Leon.He pushed a piece of cloth to Jess' side to prevent her from losing more blood."Is she going to be okay?" Michael asked, looking really worried."She'll be fine. We just have to get the bullet out and sew her up." Mira assured him."Alright guys, we're here!" Maximus informed after the
They followed Nelly out of the forest and into town. He led them into a bar and out the back door which seemed to transport them to another location."So, I heard y'all are starting your own pack so you can defeat some werewolf overlord," Nelly asked sarcastically."It's not a joke, alright? But what would you know about it? Witchers have made us their enemies for generations and have turned a blind eye to the problems of the supernatural world." Maximus said, upset."Is that what you think? That we don't care? This is our world too, you know. We don't interfere with werewolves and vampires because that's the law, but when things get out of hand, we take action." Nelly explained."When have Witchers ever taken action?" Mira asked."Now!" Nelly answered. He reached another door and opened it, gesturing at them to walk through it."Where will this take us?" Maximus asked."It will take you where you need to go. She's waiting for you." Nelly answered.Maximus led the way into the door, f
The next night, Cornelius Primo was ready to fly out to the gravesite that Gable’s men had found so he could get the most important piece of the puzzled for his plans to finally move forward. He had gotten dressed in his father’s cloak, an article of clothing that he had never worn since he killed his father. Gable came into his chambers, “Alpha, the chopper is ready,” He said. “Then, let’s get going,” Primo said. They both walked out of the house and onto the yard together. When they reached outside, five more men, including the pilot were already inside the spinning helicopter and they were going to accompany him just in case he needed some extra muscle. There was also a young woman in the helicopter with a bag over her head. Her hands and feet were tied up with ropes and she was also unconscious. “Is that the virgin?” Primo asked before stepping in. “That’s her,” Gable answered. Primo and Gable climbed in and the pilot hovered them off the ground and into the sky. They headed
Gable was in the underground section of the Mudders Estate and was supervising the final touches that were being made to the giant bunker deep within the soil. He had a grin on his face because he knew that it was almost time for the real plan to be kicked in motion. J came running up the stairs so he could give Gable some information about the progress of the dome. “Gable, I’ve got good news from the engineers,” J said to him. “And…” Gable asked. “It’s complete. As of now, the dome is officially complete,” J said with a proud smile on his face. “…which means that it’s time to have some real fun,” Gable said with a menacing smile. The Gemini wolf got out from the ground and went back up to the surface. He walked into the mansion so he could give the good news to his Alpha. He reached the Alpha’s chambers and walked into the room without even knocking. When he got in, he found Cornelius Primo inside his communication room filled with computers having a meeting with his high beta
PARIS A YEAR LATER “Au revoir, Jacqueline. Get home safe, alright?” A man said to his worker who had just left his bakery for the night. “Will do, Monsieur Henri. See you tomorrow,” She said as she walked away. It was late in the evening and a lot of businesses were closed. The streets were dark but thanks to the glow of the street lamps, there was enough light for Jacqueline to move around. She walked through the streets of Rue de Rivoli and she hummed to herself as she walked. As she was walking, she suddenly had this feeling that someone was following her. She turned to check but there was no one behind her. She felt maybe it was just her nerves for having left work so late tonight so she kept walking. Some distinct shadow suddenly ran past her from behind and she felt the wind. She gasped and turned around again but still, there was no one. Jacqueline was getting scared because she could feel that she was being stalked. The streets were empty and she was all alone so there w
Maximus found himself walking on an empty field and all he could see all around him was the green carpet grass. There was no one else and nothing else in sight, just the green.Nothing about where he was felt real but yet, he could feel the heat of the sun. He could feel the coolness of the breeze on his skin and he could smell the grassy aroma coming off the leaves. "Where am I?" He asked himself as he continued walking. Then, he spotted something just up ahead, something different about this place. He walked further until he saw it better. There was a section of the grass that was dried up and grey and it made a circle within all the green. Inside the circle, there was a tombstone on the ground and it had Allison's name written on it.Maximus saw her name and stopped walking. He stopped with his foot mere inches away from the grey grass. His eyes watered up and his brows flared together when he remembered his dead mate. He didn't want to be here because he was being reminded of som
"For so long, I have imagined this moment. I have played it out in my head what seeing you again would be like. I will admit that when I envisioned this moment, I was always scared of you. Even after I became a Witch, I was still afraid of just the thought of you because of how much you messed me up as a person. I have battled all sorts of things, all sorts of abominations that would leave even the strongest Witch emotionally scarred for life and I didn't feel a thing but with you, I would have nightmares and I would sometimes blink and in that quarter of a second of darkness, I would see your face and it would terrify me," Peace said to Constance."Aw, I left an impression on you," Constance said condescendingly, almost like she was making fun of Peace."You did," Peace admitted, "For so long, I tried to be the best Witch I could be just so I wouldn't end up like you. Everyone always raised their brows about me because I inherited your powers and they felt like I was doomed to go dow
The young vampire sat in a dark corner in Jorish's living room and was sobbing because she was so terrified by what was happening to her. She didn't want to believe that she was now a soulless blood-sucking monster but all the clues were pointing out that she was but she didn't want to accept it.The sound of her weeping started annoying Jorish who couldn't focus on the book she was reading. She started to rethink letting the girl out of the dungeon and played with the idea of putting her back but, for some reason she couldn't quite put her finger on, Jorish decided to converse with her instead. She closed her book and spun her chair around to face the vampire."You've been making that sound for almost twenty minutes now. Are you even shedding any tears?" Jorish asked her."I don't know why nothing's coming out," She said and rubbed her face but there were no tears even though she was really crying."Yeah, that's because vampires can't produce tears," Jorish said."I'm not a vampire,"
Maximus went to the lake around the mansion, to the same spot where he had kissed Allison for the first time after they imprinted. He sat by the lake and remembered that moment as one of the happiest he had ever felt and it made him even sadder that she was gone and he would never feel that way again.Whenever the mate of a werewolf died, he or she would have to get over their death mentally and emotionally before they would be able to mate again. If the werewolf isn't able to heal from the loss, they'll remain without an imprint for the rest of their lives, unable to find their mate to complete their existence. Maximus wasn't an ordinary werewolf; he was a True-born, True Alpha and he was strong not just physically but mentally as well. He knew he could get over Allison's death. All he needed was time but at this moment, it felt almost impossible to not feel the pain and the emptiness left by her absence. It hurt more than the injuries he had sustained at Primo's hands and all he co
With their tails behind their legs, the Saviours did the walk of shame after crossing through the hex and getting out of the car they had stolen from the concert. It was clear from the way they walked back to the mansion that they were defeated and it would take a while before they were back to full force because they had suffered a crushing defeat tonight.Jess and Aliyah were the first to go into the house. They turned around to see if Maximus wanted some company but he gestured at them to go and get some rest, signalling that he'd be fine. They did as he said and went upstairs to their room while Maximus kept walking and headed to the back of the house. Mira didn't think it was a good idea to leave Maximus alone at this time because she remembered how impulsive he could be. He hadn't been impulsive for a long time but the amount of loss they had suffered today could make him do something crazy so she decided to follow him to whatever part of the house he was going to.While she fol
PEACE'S POV...The amount of chaos and loss that occurred on this night was unlike anything I had ever witnessed. So many people turned while others died from the bites, their systems unable to handle the process of the change and their lives got altered forever because of one werewolf's delusion for power. Why did the vampires even do this? Why today of all days? So many things were out of order and it felt so unreal. I knew something was coming but I never once suspected that this could ever happen to the world on my watch. I never expected it to get to this point but it did and it came at a cost that I could have prevented but because of the Witcher's Law, I could only sit by and watch as the chaos ensued.Maximus Cullen, his Luna and his betas had suffered a crushing loss at the hands of Cornelius Primo and his Mudders and they weren't even able to stop his plans. They always knew their lives were in danger when they took it upon themselves to fight the Alpha Mudder but now, th
