Although the first floor was as dimly lit as the ground floor, Mark could see her face clearly at first glance.

The large hallway echoed with the distant sounds of dripping water, creating an eerie ambiance. In the center of this desolate space, Cassie remained unconscious, her wrists bound to a cold metal chair.

There were a few beads of sweat on her pale face, but thankfully, her eyes were shut.

Some light was pouring in from outside, casting irregular shadows that danced around the room. The faint creaking of the wooden floor announced Mark's arrival as he moved with a calculated gait.

As he approached his restrained wife, his heart pounded with a mixture of fear and determination. For a moment, Mark felt his heart leap out of his chest, thinking that they might have injected her with some drugs to make her fall unconscious.
