Miss Selene

Chapter 15

~~ Miss Selene ~~

Unknown location. Unknown time….

“You let them escape!!??” a voice boomed across the dimly lit hall, that contained nothing but two silhouettes, standing many feet apart.

The silhouette by the door, knelt down on a knee with their head bowed, “My apologies…”, the voice was feminine, “They were too strong--”

The other cut in with a deep male voice, “Too strong? Too strong!? You’re a mystic of the Elites, and you dare call a degenerate blessing user, strong?”

The female shuddered in fright at the sound of his voice.

“How far you have fallen, Selene. You used to own a pack, but here you are, frail as a child’s limbs,” the man smacked his tongue, shaking his head.

“Please, Lord. I request for one more opportunity. I promise not to be a disappointment this time,” Selene begged with a cracked voice. She was at the brink of tears.

“Hehe…” he laughed with a deep voice. “Your luck has run out. No more chances for you.”

Her lips quivered, “Please, my Lord--”

He interrupted with a yell that almost tore her ear drums asunder, “Get out!!”

She dared not speak again. She just stood up in shame and vanished out of the hall in a blur.

After she left, two more silhouettes appeared behind the tall man.

Without looking back, he said with his deep voice, “Go after her and make sure she doesn’t talk again.”

“Affirmative,” they bowed slightly before vanishing as fast as they came.

A woman with long scarlet hair, red eyes and red lips, walked briskly past the green plain fields and into the thick woods. The two suns that shone brightly on the opened landscape, could only beam some of their fingers into the tree congested terrain.

She was clad in an emerald transparent dress that showcased a black singlet within. This was accompanied by a pair of tight leather trousers that had a mixture of brown and purple, her hips standing out. She trudged on with her mediaeval leather shoe, her red hair fluttering behind her as the wind carried it like a ship on the rippling waves of the ocean.

About a mile back and unbeknownst to the beautiful lady with red hair, two figures hopped from tree to tree with profound agility and stealth. Their expertise was so good, the trees didn’t tweak, neither did their feet make a noise.

They were like visible ghosts.

The red haired lady arrived at a flowing stream just outside the woods. The water was crystal clear and sparkling, giving one the urge to have a taste of it or soak themselves in it.

The lady walked by the river bank till she got to a huge boulder, that was taller than her, even though she was almost six feet tall.

She raised her both her hands, folding her fingers like a tiger’s paws and brownish claws shot out of her fingers. She pushed her hands down and started digging the soil like a meerkat, just at the base of the huge boulder. It lasted for some minutes and she stopped, retracting her claws.

She brought out a book from the hole in the ground and smiled.

‘Good job, Selene,’ she praised herself for keeping the book safe.

She dropped on her butt, opening the book and began reading its pages with undivided attention, and urgency too. The words written in the book weren’t English, they looked more of symbols than foreign letters. Some pages had drawings. Drawings of circles with pentagrams and other symbols inside them.

Then, at that moment, the hair behind her neck, stood, her eyes dilated. She closed her book shut and jumped into a side flip, landing in the transparent river. Splash!

Crush! Crumble!

A fist blew the huge boulder apart to crumbs.

Two figures landed before her. Both were males, stark naked and well built.

Her eyes narrowed, not recognizing them but felt a familiar aura seeping out of them.

“Not to worry, you don’t need to know anything once you’re dead,” the men said in unison and roared like beasts.

As though the roar was a trigger, they bodies began to contort and twist, thick brown hair covering them as they slouched a bit. Once the transformation was complete, they looked akin to Werewolves. They had long ears, fangs, claws and beaming blue eyes.

Selene only smirked, tossing her book to the other side of the river, kicking in her transformation too. He fur and eyes were red.

Roar!

With simultaneous roars from the three of them, they charged at each other.

The assailants cornered her, leaving her to stand amid them, and they clawed down at her neck.

Selene bounced back off the ground as though her legs were springs. She soared some feet higher and landed behind them, her legs causing a wide splash.

They turned and bolted at her and lunged ferocious attacks like hungry wild beasts. She managed to block some, but got hit some of the time, leaving gashes on her furred skin.

At a time when she could no longer take it, she launched off the ground again and landed at another part of the river, her body soaked with self blood and water. She roared and ran at them, this time, two runic circles spiraling into existence on her shoulders.

They too ran towards her with tenacity in their eyes.

The runic circles rolled down her arms like wheels and stopped at the grasp of her palms. Her claws sank into the circles and she extended her arms while in motion.

Boom!

Compressed mystical beams shot out of the circles and obliterated the assailants in a whim. They were just too close to evade.

She growled in relief, her wounds were completely healed now. Without wasting much time, knowing that others might be after her, she’s hopped high and landed at the other bank of the river. She grabbed her book and opened it to the page she was reading before. She was still in her Mystic Wolf form.

Getting what she wanted, she held the book with one hand and extended the other hand in front of her. She began to recite some foreign words while rotating her palm in thin air.

Slowly, the air in front of her got denser and denser, till it felt as heavy as a solid object. Whilst reciting the words, a multicolored runic circle appeared before her palm and she plunged it into the dense air.

Boom!

Space warped like a whirlpool before her, the air cracking and shattered like glass! What was left was a spinning portal of pitch black darkness within. This didn’t even bother her. She ripped the book to shreds, burning it afterwards with a wick of fire from a small runic she formed at the tip of her claw.

That being achieved, she took a quick glance around the place, the clouds and two suns in reminiscence before jumping into the portal.

Space warped once again, and the portal vanished.

Huntsville. The woods…

Space contracted. The air squeezed like folded paper.

The contraction in space was so tight and limited, a hole was ripped open. The hole was initially pitch black, then transited to multiple colors. Colors that were existent and nonexistent.

Then the hole contracted like pouted lips, and spat out a humanoid being. The being landed on its fists and one knee, the ripped space behind it closing up in succession.

It had red fur that danced to the billowing wind, and elven long ears. It slowly rose to its feet, reaching a height of 8ft. It was non other than Selene, the daylight Werewolf!

“So, this must be the place? I can feel his presence strongly from here,” she smiled.

Ms. Selene opened the door for Avery to enter the building before looking ahead to see a young boy, he exuded an immense aura. Her eyes went wide. Then she vanished and appeared beside him.

“You must be the brother,” Ms. Selene slowly said, beaming with smiles.

Ian flinched and answered, “Y-Yes, I’m Ian, Avery’s elder brother.”

“Hmm…” she stared at him, her lips still curved up. “Then you must be the ONE, I presume.”

‘You must be the Aeon,’ she smiled inwardly.

Deep in the woods…

It was dark already, probably one of the darkest nights this year as the moon was completely shielded by the clouds. Only the dotted stars helped luminate the environment.

Red haired Selene stood on a spot in the woods. A brown furred wolf laid dead before her. She crouched down by it and placed her left palm on it, passing some of her essence to it. Red particles like dust swirled into it and it flinched.

“This should get the hunters off my tail,” she sighed while standing up. She took a step back and vanished into the darkness. The dead wolf’s eyes shot open.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

A blur scaled past trees in seconds, two other blurs coming behind it. The race lasted a few minutes before the first blur decided to stop. The other two stopped also.

The two were silhouettes with normal human heights. They wielded long katana blades that glistered from the twinkling lumination from above. The symbol of a triangle with Japanese texts, inside a circle was etched onto the sheen blades.

The first blur was a humanoid with dirty brown fur over its curved body. It had broken claws and blood red fangs. Its eyes glowed blue, its face was a mess of blood and ripped skin.

It was a werewolf.

A little fight ensued and it was slayed by the hunters.

~

‘This is getting pointless. How hard can it be to kill an Aeon!!’

‘Those gunmen and hunters foiled the opportunity I had once again!’

‘Maybe, Lord was right. Maybe I am just useless after all…’

‘Argh! I’m not at full strength after using that wolf as a decoy… I can’t fail this time. No!’

‘Then it remains only one thing to do.’

Miss Selene grinned as she saw little Avery walking out of the school building.
