Chapter 2
~~ New Faces ~~The big black tires of a black jeep, momentarily receded their spin as the vehicle came to a halt. The black jeep was parked in front of two tall buildings. There was a space of about seven meters between the jeep and buildings. The space was floored with concrete, although it was lined with beautiful ornamental plants. The first building, that was grey in color, had a red stone situated by its side. It had an engraving that read 'HUNTSVILLE HIGH'.Click! The backdoors to the black jeep opened simultaneously and Ian and Avery hopped down. They clung casually to their backpacks as they stared directly at the school. Other students roamed about the entrance and into the buildings.“You guys enjoy your day!” Peter half-shouted from within the jeep. “And don't cause any trouble.”He bid them goodbye and drove off. Avery turned and waved as she mouthed, “Bye, dad.”Ian couldn't care less; he continued walking. Avery ran and caught up to him and they walked side by side in silence, till they reached the red stone with engravings on it.Little Avery turned left towards the other building. That building had different colors splashed on its walls; not in a frenzy, but more of in a childish and artistic manner. The building was meant for the juniors; from 9th grade downwards. After taking a few steps, Avery stopped and turned to see her half-brother sauntering towards the high school's entrance, with an indifferent expression.‘Didn't he notice?... But, but he's supposed to...’ she frowned, taking brisk steps towards him.“Ian!” she shouted.“Huh?” Ian stopped in his tracks and half-turned towards Avery. “Uh... Did you forget something?” he couldn't help but ask, noticing her cute frown.“You're the one that's forgetting something,” she said as she got close to him.“And that is?” Ian was completely blank. She pouted her lips, “You're supposed to escort me to my school”‘Seriously? We've been doing this ever since you started first grade. And it's just like twenty steps away from here!’ he retorted inwardly before deciding to reply.“Avery, look, you're not a kid anymore. Besides, I could just stand here and watch till you've gotten inside.”He ruffled her brown hair, feigning a smile. They were late already, missing the first period meant visiting the principal's office. No one wanted that. No one, especially him, who's had constant visits to the office last semester. And they weren't visits that warranted appraises or awards, but visits that almost resulted in him getting suspended. His saving grace had always been his bright mind and impeccable grades.“But mum said --” Avery was about to reply, but Ian cut her off.“Mum worries too much. I have to go now,” he said with smile.Avery shook her head in a negative manner and folded her arms, her lips shaking as she stood on a spot.“Oh, come on!” Ian threw his hands in exasperation.“Please...” Avery mouthed with her lips curved down.Ian stared at her for a second or two, his lips twitching, before he finally gave up and said, “Fine. Let's be quick.”“Yay!” Avery jubilated with a wide smile. No matter how hard Ian tried, he couldn't help but smile too; her smile was very contagious. He held her hand and they strolled to the building.“So... Mind telling me why you can't go to school without me?” Ian asked. Even though she was eight, she's always acted far above her age. He felt something was off.“Are you scared?” he added.“I'm not scared of anything,” she replied sharply like she always did.“Err... Okay,” he shrugged.“Well, except for Ms. Selene,” she said with a reduced pitch.“Uh? Who's that?” Ian took a glance at his sister. She looked worried. “What's so scary about her?”Avery exhaled, “She started teaching us last week... She keeps saying all these weird stuff to me when we're alone. And standing close to her makes me feel really frightened.”Ian's brows furrowed, “Oh... Words like?”“She once called me ‘magia saka’, an half-Aeon, something like that,” she said nervously.“Wow...” Ian muttered. He'd never seen her in such a frightened state before. She sighed again, “I know it sounds stupid, but --”“No. I believe you,” Ian smiled. “Have you told mum... Or Peter?”“Nah. Mum could panic, and dad is too busy.”“Fair point. But don't worry, you have me,” he smiled as they stopped at the building's entrance.“I know,” she smiled back and hugged him by the waist. She disengaged and ran into the building. But, just before she entered, she froze as she saw a red haired woman at the door, smiling at her like she'd been expecting her. The lady gently opened the glass partitioned door for her. The flustered Avery smiled sheepishly before rushing in.‘Whoa. I guess that must be Ms. Selene...’ Ian pondered after seeing what just transpired. His eyes scanned her from head to toe. She was tall with evident feminine curves, curves that could not be hidden by her white shirt and black trousers. She had red eyes and red lips, which matched her long scarlet hair.Never had he seen someone with red eyes, expect when he read them in novels, and they were usually vampires.‘Was Avery messing with me?’ he asked himself. To him, Ms. Selene was just ridiculously beautiful. Nothing seemed off about her. While he pondered on these things, he heard a sweet light voice speak to him.“You must be the brother,” Ms. Selene slowly said, beaming with smiles.‘Damn!’ Ian almost screamed out of shock. She had gotten close to him and he didn't even notice.Calming himself down, he replied, “Y-Yes, I'm Ian, Avery's elder brother.”“Hmm...” she stared at him, her lips still curved up. “Then you must be the ONE, I presume”‘Uh... Of course I am the ONE. I'm her brother. I literally just told you that!’ Ian retorted inwardly, resisting the urge to frown. With silence as its partner, the stare elongated for a couple of seconds, before the red haired lady withdrew her red eyes and walked away.Ian could have sworn to see those red eyes lit up during the stare. He felt paralyzed and couldn't move until after she left. As she left, he forced himself to inhale and exhale, staggering back a little. He sighed.‘Avery wasn't kidding. This woman, she's... She's--’“What the hell!” he exclaimed with wide eyes as he found himself standing right in front of Huntsville high. But wasn't he at Avery's school just a second ago?The flustered Ian shook his head and trotted into the building.~“Are you sure? Maybe it's just another one of your weird dreams,” a fair teenage boy with auburn hair whispered to Ian, who was seated right in front of his desk. They were in class and lecture was going on.Pretending to scribble something in his note, Ian dropped his head and tilted it back a little, “I don't think so. If it was a dream, I'd have woken up in bed. And besides, this actually made sense unlike the dreams where I'm in fantasy land.”“Hmph. Fair point,” the boy with auburn hair had his black eyes fixated on the teacher, while he whispered.“Then there's only one possible explanation for this...” he narrowed his eyes.“And that is?” Ian asked, still scribbling imaginary words on his note.“That Ms. Selene is a witch,” the boy said with all seriousness.“Pfft...” Ian subconsciously dropped his pen as he raised his hand to cover his mouth, in order to suppress his laugh. This inevitably caught the attention of the female teacher and other students.“Ian, did I say something funny?” the teacher asked, adjusting her glasses.Ian shook his head with puffed cheeks, signifying a 'no'.“Hmph...” the teacher sighed. “Use your words, please.”Ian nodded and withdrew his hand from his mouth as he slowly exhaled. Then he looked straight at her, “Sorry about that.”She only shook her head before continuing her class.“Damn, Chase. What've you been watching? There's no such thing as a witch,” Ian resumed his former position, whispering to his best friend.“Dude, trust me. Nothing is not impossible,” Chase replied.Ian raised a brow, “That doesn't even make sense.”“Says the guy who got eaten by a dragon,” Chase snickered with a smirk.Ian rolled his eyes, “That was only a dream...”Betwixt their chatter, the door to the classroom was pushed open and a young teenage girl walked in with slow steps. Her feet moved so slowly, her sneakers almost made no sound with the floor. But this sluggish stride of hers, only made her look more elegant than she already was.Clad in a long red top and blue jeans, the teenage girl clung tightly to her backpack as she closed the door, timidly facing the floor. She had long dark hair and peculiar dark eyes. The structure of her impeccably gorgeous face made it clear that she was Asian.Mid words, Chase's eyes went wide as he saw her walk in. He remained frozen for a few seconds before regaining himself.“Ian, Ian,” he tapped Ian and told him to look up.Ian reluctantly raised his head and his eyes fell on her. He couldn't move an inch afterwards as he was lost in her peculiar eyes. The teacher stood up with a smile and introduced the new girl.“Everyone, meet your new classmate. Chapter 3 ~~ Evaluation ~~ |Department Of Defense and Technology — D.O.D.T| Inside the 40th floor of the sky high building... The office was enshrouded in darkness, the windows were covered with thick dark blinds. The office wasn't in complete darkness though, as the light beaming from the large flat screen TV, brought some illumination. This made it possible to see the silhouettes and the few faces of the men seated around a long rectangular table. They all faced the direction of the TV screen, watching what was transmitted with keen and undivided attention. One could say they didn't even blink at all, making them akin to functionless androids. The TV displayed a footage of some people camping out in the woods at night. They were seated round the campfire, chatting casually and laughing heartily. After about half an hour had passed, which the was cut out of the footage, when one of them decided to take a leak in the dark, about a few meters away from the camp site. Not too lon
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Connection
Chapter 4 ~~ Connection ~~ Huntsville High... “Oh, you've got to be kidding me!” the auburn haired Chase muttered with a frown, standing next to Ian, as they stared at their lockers. A guy with brown hair, clad in a big brown jacket, black trousers and boots, had a girl pinned to the lockers as they locked lips with pleasure. “Really, Ace? Must it be by our... He's doing this on purpose, you know that right?” Chase muttered again, pointing at the kissing couple. “Sigh... I'll just tell him to leave,” Ian sighed. Chase chuckled, “And what if he says no, like he's always done the past five hundred times? Then what?...” he looked at Ian in the eyes, “ A fight? You know you can't beat the guy.” “Wow. Thanks for the motivation, dude. I really needed that,” Ian smiled sarcastically. “I know, right? You're welcome,” Chase flowed with the sarcasm, smiling and patting Ian in the back. Then the both of them sighed simultaneously, and they took slow steps towards their lockers. “We can
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Suicide Squad
Chapter 5 ~~ Suicide Squad ~~ The woods... The orange sun finally disappeared beneath the horizon as darkness fell almost immediately. The blue moon hung in the cloudless, star dotted sky, glistering in its illuminated ambience. A serene atmosphere reigned throughout Huntsville like a shower of snow flakes. The trees in the woods fluttered in rhythm to the cool flowing wind. The crickets made their presence known with their ululating chirps. The stony-grassy grounds rattled slightly as a Humvee, a police cruiser, and two bikes made their way through the woods, their headlights beaming brightly. Getting to a certain cleared location, the vehicles came to a halt almost simultaneously. Two policemen alighted the white and blue cruiser. They were clad in Huntsville's police uniforms; starched brown shirts, deep brown trousers and black boots. They both had walkie talkies attached to their shoulders. Since they parked behind the Humvee, they had to trot forward and meet up with the o
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Risky Decision
Chapter 6 ~~ Risky Decision ~~ Huntsville High... Chase slammed his grey locker shut and rested his back on it, before sliding down and sitting on the floor. His blue tank top was drenched in sweat, likewise his whole body. Sighing, he said, “This was by far the worst P.E training. Ever!” “No kidding,” Ian agreed, his voice brimming with exasperation. He also sat on the floor beside Chase; his tank top was red. Chase swept his sweat-wet, auburn hair back with his hand, “We were just used as tools while Ace and his guys displayed their stupid stamina and strength.” “I know, right? Even the girls did better than us,” Ian said with a tint of jealousy. Then he frowned, “Are we really that weak?” Chase looked at him, “What? No! Ace might have called us weak, but he's only strong because he's got the number advantage.” Chase paused and fisted his hands, his brows furrowed, “These babies are enough to take him down if we were to go one on--” “Shush!” Ian quickly covered Chase's mout

Chapter 7 ~~ I Told You So ~~ Ian and Chase lumbered into the class with straight faces. All eyes were on them but they ignored. Well, not totally though. Ian was again staring at Kira, who stylishly shared glances with him as well. Chase pulled him by the hand and they sat down, listening to the English teacher’s teachings. The duo barely lasted ten minutes when their minds trailed off with different emotions. They could no longer hear the teacher’s voice but their inner voices instead. Ian couldn’t wait for the class to end, so he could leave for the woods. He wouldn’t have come to class if not for his consistent attendance. He had this feeling that’s he’d find something interesting in the woods. Something had been drawing there ever since he read the news with Chase a while ago. He didn’t know what or why, but he felt he needed to get there as soon as possible. Maybe he could get answers as to why he’s been having these bizarre dreams of other worlds. While everyone had been in
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Confrontation
Chapter 8 ~~ Confrontation ~~ “Ahhh!” Chase screamed like a lady in distress, digging his hands into the soil. The terrified scream didn’t last five seconds before he kept mute and remained frozen. He sat so still, one would have contradicting thoughts to if he was the one that yelled just a few seconds ago. His heaved and heaved, his chest undulating under his clothing, his heart beating at an alarming rate. He was sweating profusely, the growls stinging his ear like needles. It was as though, a tiny speaker was placed in his ears, the terrifying growls emanating from them. Chase was very terrified, even though he hadn’t confirmed what was behind them. Ian wasn’t left out, seated beside Chase and trying all his best to remain sane. He had always been the cool one among them, and was sometimes stoic even when it came to facing threatening factors. But this, this was totally different, on a whole other level. He could somewhat perceive the rage, devastation and killing intent, wi

The beast lifted him up and opened it mouth to chew his head off. But all of a sudden, Ian finds himself standing far away, completely fine. No blood, no injuries… Then gets stabbed again! And the process repeated itself again and again. It was an endless cycle of death and resurrection. Gasp! Ian jolted awake with a sharp gasp. His eyes were still closed, but all his senses were functioning. He could feel himself lying on a thick foam and a pillow below his head. This familiar feeling made him sigh in relief. He was at home,
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Reconnaissance
Chapter 10 ~~ Reconnaissance ~~ Ian could barely keep his eyes open, as he stood in a vast space of bright white light. The space stretched for over an infinitesimal distance. There was no end, nor a beginning. He felt weightless, yet heavy. Empty, yet full. Lifeless, yet brimming with life. These contradicting feelings made his head throb like his heart was in it. But then again, he felt serenity at the same time. He was greatly perturbed. ‘Where am I?’ ‘What is this place?’ Those would have been his questions, that he usually asked when he found himself here, but no, he had grown self awareness and already knew this was a dream. After about a minute of floating or standing, Ian observed as the scenery changed from a white boundless space to a terrain dotted with tall trees. He brought down his hands from his eyes, rapidly adjusting to the lesser intensity of light. The ground had grasses and rocks coexisting on it. Ian was very familiar with this place. This was in the woods

Epilogue
Epilogue… His lush golden hair swayed gently to the whispering wind as he enjoyed a hot cup of tea. He had his legs crossed, seated on a boulder by the crackling fire place. He picked the cup from its saucer and was about to take a sip when the entirety of “that” metaphysical plane shook to its cognitive foundations. The wind howled to the furious distortion in space. The cup in his hand cracked and shattered to pieces, the liquid drying up instantly. As though the space before him was an invisible wall, it rippled as a hand punctured it. A second hand came through and simultaneously, they pulled space apart like a soft piece of fabric. It was the silver-white haired, crystal-blue eyed Ian Whitefield, that walked out of the rip in space. It mended itself as he completely walked through. His crystal-blue eyes were a bit pale under the umbrella of his arched eyelashes. His face was stern as he stood on a spot, glaring at his father, Ghordon. Ghordon dusted off the ceramic crumbs on

Wistfulness
Chapter 125 ~ Wistfulness ~ Ian, Amelia and Raymond, along with their two captives, entered the realm of Knyghts. They met the realm in ruins. Most of the realm had been decimated and leveled to ash and soot. The atmosphere was damp; the clouds were dark grey and ash dripped down the sky like a snow shower. Though, at the moment of their entry, the realm was quite serene, it was pretty much obvious that a war had broken out — a fierce one. The soaring Saphira spotted Rhegalius Claive and landed beside him. The trio alighted the saddle and they had a long talk. The Knyght told them how Dhamon instigated an invasion to the Upper realm but Knyghtstead refused to join, hence putting a big bull’s eye on the realm’s back. He told them how Oregon and the realm of giants breached Knyghtstead and wrecked havoc. Well… the Knyghts were actually faring well, but couldn’t fight at their peak because of the civilians; to avoid casualties. So they tried their best to corner the opposition and push

Aftermath
Chapter 124 ~~ Aftermath ~~ Ian watched King Dhamon fade to oblivion like he never existed. He had his eyes fixated on that spot for about two minutes before raising his head to the turbulent sky and exhaled. He dropped his head and sat on the edge of the slanted building. He kept staring at his dangling legs, sighing at intervals. ‘Is it really over? The all powerful King Dhamon is gone… Well, not all powerful… Mother Knox said he was on par with some demi-gods and yet… I-I just defeated him?’ He held his head and rested his elbows on his thighs, ‘It feels so unreal. I was wielding only a fragment of Ghordon’s essence and it was more than enough to kill him. Wait… Did I just kill someone?’ his eyes dilated for a moment, then he sighed. ‘Tch. He was no longer human.’ “How are you faring, little god?” Mother Knox appeared out of thin air and sat next to Ian. Normally, he’d have been startled but he wasn’t. He tilted his head to take a glance at her, then retracted his eyes to his

Space-Time
Chapter 123 ~ Space-Time ~ ‘This feels… Incredible. It’s like my mind has been opened to several possibilities, several ways I can use my blessing. Ways I could never think of.’ Ian floated around the shattered spaces rocks, mesmerized by the thoughts running through his head. Various attacks and counter measures skimmed through his mind; attacks that made him sure he'd win even with his spatial blessing alone. He raised his right hand and fixated it on Dhamon. The latter had just obliterated the asteroids surrounding him out of frustration. With the King locked in his bull’s eye, he fisted his palm and drew it back. Space warped around Dhamon and pulled him towards Ian in an Instant. However, Dhamon had readied a fist blazing with nether whilst in motion. As he got in proximity with Ian, he lunged his fist at his face. But then, space distorted to Ian's call and the young man vanished while a large asteroid simultaneously took his place. Dhamon ended up punching the asteroids to

Chapter 122 ~~ Fifteen percent? ~~ Specks of blue essence dissociated gradually from Ghordon’s body and seeped into Ian's chest. By now, Ghordon’s right arm and a part of his shoulder had dissociated completely. Ian's brows kept twitching as he tried to maintain an undeterred focus on the process. His hand would quiver in intervals as he resisted the urge to let go of Ghordon’s hand. “Stay calm, Ian. The calmer you are, the faster the merge,” Ghordon said with a soothing voice. With his eyes still closed, Ian grunted, “This is taking too long. Everyone is in danger. I can feel it.” Ghordon sighed, “That’s why I need you to clear your mind. The faster we do this, the better we have a chance of saving everyone.” Rumble! A tremor shook the metaphysical plane, almost swiping Ghordon and Ian off their feet. They staggered from side to side, still holding onto each other. “What was that?” Ian asked. Ghordon’s eyes narrowed, “It’s too soon.” Ian raised a brow, “It feels like somet

Domain of Darkness
Chapter 121~ Domain of Darkness ~“Athena, the goddess of storms and Metallurgy,” Dhamon said, coming to a stop a few meters away from her. Then he bowed slightly, “My apologies. It's Mother Knox, isn’t it?”Mother Knox stared at the Dhemistarian in disdain. She could tell from their proximity and the malevolent aura exuding him, that he had risen to the level of a demigod. She creased her brows as she felt him getting stronger even as he spoke. His contact with the Upper dimension where primordial cosmic energies flowed freely might be acting as a catalyst to his godhood affinity.“It burdens me how everyone adores and worships you, calling you the goddess of this, the goddess of that. When in truth you’re nothing but a copied waste product of the true gods themselves,” Dhamon spoke like he was on his throne. At the bottom edge of each window frames were protruded circular bricks with foreign carvings engraved on them. Setting his mind and body at peace, he touched each one with his palm, imbuing them with his qi before pushing them into the wall.Clang! As he pushed the last one in, the rift went to a standstill. A few seconds later, the shape of a door appeared beneath the rift. One could see Dhemistaria at the other side and the silhouette of a tall man.
