‘Sigh. Is this all I can eat?’

Jason failed to find anything edible in the surrounding area.

He stayed hidden for almost two hours in the cave for something to happen, but nothing notable happened. The creature looked as if it was at the edge of its life, but it didn’t die, and no other creature came out until the end.

He finally sneaked out of the cave when his hunger took its toll on his body, but he saw nothing in the surrounding that he could eat; except for the ravaged bodies of the monsters.

‘Sigh. I can’t even make a fire. What am I supposed to do?’

He wished he had his fire runes with him. There was nothing flammable in his surrounding, and the only choice left to him was to consume raw meat to sustain his condition. He knew eating this meat could mutate him, but he was already a mutant. The last time he finished the simulation, there was a message telling him not to mutate, but this wasn’t something he did, and he didn’t want to stay hungry.

Jason started ripping into the mo

“Meow! Meow!”“I know it is getting dark! But what about it? We can light a fire but it makes no difference to either of us. We both can see in the dark. Wait! Is this the first time you are seeing the night?”Jason understood Nyx must be telling him about the darkness outside with her voice. In response, he voiced out everything as a growl since his words only turned into a roar or a growl. He felt surprised when he felt the nervousness in her voice. They weren’t close friends, but they relied on each other to survive. It had been over three months since he came to this world through simulation. A week ago, he was depressed to the point where he couldn’t eat or sleep and Nyx was the one who brought prey to him during that time.Jason wondered if it had become morning in Yuriel, and if Hanna was awake, looking for him. However, he knew he couldn’t just sit there for the time to run out. If he could use this chance to be stronger, he might be able to find them after returning alive, a

“My God! That thing… What is that thing…?”“Hush. Keep it down.”Lana warned the man in a low voice, but she also felt afraid. The creature they saw through the telescope was a type they had never seen before. It was around two-metre tall and walked on two legs. It had a unique body covered with back scales and sharp spikes sticking out of various places. The creature looked calm despite its horrifying figure, and she noticed something like a piece of cloth on its bottom half. It also carried something that looked like a bag on its shoulder, which made her even warier. This powerful predator was intelligent. It also had a companion white cat with black stripes. A creature that shouldn’t be walking around on the surface. There were still some cats left in their base because they managed to save some animals from mutation and starvation, but this cat was living on the surface of their desolate world. Which was quite unusual to her. They watched the creature easily kill a hunter by twi

“He is collecting books, again.”Lana whispered as she looked at the distant black figure. They observed him for over a month, and he ignored them as long as they didn’t get close. Of course, none of them had a desire to even do so, but they provoked him a couple of times after looking at him too much; which ended up with him one of the scout team members receiving serious injuries after a simple shove. After that, no one ever tried to bother him, and after Persley’s experience on the first day, no psychic tried to probe him.‘Night Hunter is traversing the old District 12 of City Z and collecting books. The mystical cat is tagging along. Both are moving toward the lair at the moment.’She read the note she just wrote in the logbook.Night Hunter; that was the name they gave him, and she didn’t know when she started calling it, ‘him.’ She thought it was a male, but there was no way for them to confirm. The council named the monster ‘Night Hunter,’ after they collected enough data and

“Sister, are you sure about this?”“Do we have anything else we can give?”Norma looked at her little brother.“No!”Hale shook his head, looking at the item Norma brought with her on the scouting mission. He knew they had nothing they could give him except this book, but that wasn’t what he was talking about. He was asking Norma if she was sure that she wanted to give a book to the monster that ruled City Z. However, his sister seemed to be adamant about her decision, and he stopped trying to convince Norma to not meet with the monster that killed hunters like ants. He knew Night Hunter saved their lives. It may not be intentional or it was simply looking for food, but they both lived because of him. No one had ever come face to face with a hunter and lived to tell the tale in the past, but they survived. Not only them, but even the other team members also survived because of Night Hunter. They had no weapon that could even hurt a hunter, and it could have exterminated their enti

“Pathetic! Is this how they train their so-called psychics? No wonder they are so weak!’Jason felt disappointed after reading the book. The content was great at first. The description he saw looked exactly similar to what Hanna experienced, and he thought he received a treasure; that was until he saw the actual training method. He didn’t know any mental training methods, but he knew what training was, and this was the most useless training method he saw. It was worse than baby steps, and Jason felt it could almost do nothing to improve someone who had mental power. This method had zero focus on using mental power on any physical object, and Hanna even controlled her own hair without a conscious effort. These psychics had no such power mentioned in this bookHonestly, despite not being a so-called psychic, he could point out many factors that could improve this training at a fundamental level. ‘Sigh! Is this some kind of prank? But why would they try to provoke me? The girl looked

I must do this. Even if it wasn’t the punishment, he was looking for me. There must be a reason, right? I can’t risk everyone because of my mistakes. Promise me one thing. Stay away from him.”Norma felt a pressure she didn’t even feel when she faced the council as a criminal. At that time, only she had to pay for her sins, but it turned into a completely unique event. Her mistake had dragged the attention of Night Hunter. A predator that could be on par with demons that roamed their world.‘What does he want?’She hurried her steps, feeling conflicted about everything. They had no other safe travel method except walking. Old vehicles or animals would drag the attention of monsters and mutated beasts, and it wasn’t safe. They had to walk, run,

“Norma! You can start!”Ryder gave the instructions and observed the situation of the isolation centre below them through the thick glass. It had been two weeks since the Night Hunter wanted to meet Norma and they safely brought her back to the base. They didn’t have much technology or people left over the two centuries because of the lack of skill and the depression caused by mass extinction. People only tried to survive day-to-day life instead of planning for the future. The birth rates dropped and their community declined, yet they still had the equipment and knowledge to deal with a situation similar to Norma’s case. They immediately isolated and decontaminated Norma, keeping her and the documents Night Hunter gave her out of reach from the others. Only after a week of observation from their remaining scientists and doctors, they confirmed Norma wasn’t in danger and she wasn’t a threat to anyone.Only then they asked Norma to study the given material and give them the details. “Why do I smell humans?”“Meow!”“Yes, I can smell them, too.”Jason phased through the buildings like a silent ghost. It had been months since he started dealing with humans in this world. Of course, they didn’t exchange much, but he received his weekly share of books. It was Norma who brought them to him most of the time, and sometimes it was the girl named Lana. He learned much more about this planet and its history. Also, more accurate and deeper information about the invasion from the aliens. Unlike the people of the world he was in at his previous simulation, these people focused on defending and hiding, rather than fighting back. Jason wondered if that was the reason for their survival, but he didn’t know if there were any survivors in the world he stumbled upon in the last simulation, either.According to the history books he read, this world had a rich magic system in the past, but the more he read, the more he realised it was long gone. The historical books revealed about

The village’s housing structure remained untouched as new construction projects focused on essential production facilities and accommodations for the new settlers arriving through the ongoing clearing operations. Infrastructure plans were in place, but progress was slow due to the sheer number of projects they were juggling. If Jason or Amelia had wanted, they could have easily upgraded their home—no one would have objected. After all, this small house was the heart of the Crystal Pulse, the centre of absolute power within the faction. "And why is their security so bad?" he added, his sharp eyes scanning the bustling streets.Soldiers packed every corner and alley, their inspections meticulous. Even the citizens were forced to pass through layers upon layers of security just to move about. Yet, despite the apparent vigilance, no one noticed him. Draped in a black cloak, the figure walked openly down the middle of the road, his presence going entirely undetected."Well... they have to be careful. Some of the most famous gamers across the country had gathered in one place, a rare occurrence in itself. The Endless had grown too big to ignore, and even gamers who had avoided it initially had now established themselves in the challenging yet captivating world of the game.Ironically, most of them seemed to have forgotten that The Crystal Pulse was the primary reason players had been able to thrive in The Endless in the first place. It was The Crystal Pulse’s infrastructure and guidance that allowed players to survive in this mercilessly realistic game. Their success had been the beacon that drew many to the VR game considered the hardest ever created. Yet here they were, plotting ways to overthrow the very organization that

She had a few healing potions tucked away in her pack, but she knew she couldn’t waste them. Supplies were limited, and every soldier had been issued a fixed amount by Crystal Pulse. While the organization would do whatever it took to keep them alive, this was part of their training—learning to manage resources in the heat of battle.'I heard they’re watching us anyway,' Gillian thought, her mind drifting. 'His mutation is changing. Or... should I say improving?' Amelia observed Jason closely as the changes in his body unfolded with each passing second. The starry night-like texture on his left side began to expand subtly toward the right, slowly overtaking the black, armour-like skin. However, the transformation seemed restrained, as though the artefact lacked the power to fully support Jason's demand. The process lasted nearly an hour before the dagger, once brimming with ominous energy, dulled completely, its power entirely drained.Jason’s body underwent slight changes—a small part of his pitch-black armour faded, replaced by the cosmic texture of the starry night. Finally, he opened his eyes, feeling a rare sense of relief. The artifact's mutation had been neutralised; it would no longer corrupt anyone or anything. For the first time in a long while, he felt as though a small part of his burden had been lifted.“Well... you can’t go out like that!” Amelia’s voice pulled him from his

His glowing eyes simply stared at the massive figure for a brief moment before he swung his right arm through the air with effortless precision. It was as if he was clawing at the distant figure. A second later, several glowing white lines expanded across the space, moving faster than the eye could track. They reached the demon in an instant, cutting through its form. Behind it, the underground mountain erupted into a cloud of dust, disintegrating as though it had been struck by an invisible force. For a heartbeat, the Greater Demon stood there, frozen in place as if nothing had happened. Then, with a sickening sound, its colossal body crumbled to the ground in pieces, diced cleanly by Jason’s strike.“Screech!” A high-pitched wail echoed across the cavern as panicked creatures scattered, their movements erratic and mindless in the wake of their apex predator’s death.
