“Daddy, where are we?”

“This is the barracks of the city. This is where the soldiers stay.”

Jason explained to Hanna as they walked through the gates of the barracks. An extra set of stone walls separated the barracks from the city. This was the outer area of Heaven’s Gate, and it looked less prosperous than the inner city.

“Oh… Soldiers!”

Hanna got intrigued as she thought about all the stories she had heard from her daddy about kingdoms and warriors. She looked around at the people who had weapons in their arms. Everyone was looking at her with curious eyes, but she didn’t fear them.

Today was a better day since there were others with them while she went to the city with her mommy and daddy. Those uncles would keep away the people who wanted to come close to them, and she could enjoy her time.

However, today she came to the outer city. A place they never came to before, and it was to meet some of her daddy’s friends.

‘Mommy isn’t happy to meet Daddy’s friends. Why is that?’

“The responses are good, boss. The number of views is rapidly increasing.”“Of course. What else is going to happen? This is the first big video recorded in a city.”“But… Boss… Won’t Miss Ashley….”“Who cares what she thinks?”Derek was in a great mood, and he didn’t care what Ashely thought of him. He recorded and collected these videos for nearly a month to produce the perfect video series about their life in Heaven’s Gate. This was the reason he endured harsh military training with no freedom. ‘This game is unbearable. But it is too popular, and my family wants me to play it. WTF!’He cursed in his mind. The gameplay in a big city wasn’t fun. They couldn’t go anywhere they wanted. After the training, they could go to the outer city, but it was usually in the afternoon. They couldn’t go to the luxurious area for any reason, and they limited the patrols to the outer area. ‘But that bastard Jason Hope….’Jason Hope was supposed to be a guild member of the Black Steel Guild. “Did you make her cry?” Jason calmed his raging anger as the man got up from the floor. He had to keep it under control, or he would accidentally kill this man. “You… Do you know who I am? I am Derek West…” “You know…. She rarely leaves on her own. She needs me or Amelia with her all the time. Today is the first time she came out without us when we weren’t at home.” Jason completely ignored the man as he closed his distance. “I am heir to the West Corporation. I am Ashley Steel’s fiance. You are one of our employees.” “It is hard for her to leave our side because people treated her so poorly. Just like what you did.” “You work for us. Do you hear me? You are working for me.” “It is funny, you know? She hasn’t cried since I took her to Light Shone. She was always happy and cheerful. But she is crying today.” Jason touched the man’s shoulder as he got up. “Get your hand off me. I said you are fu*king working from me. Are you deaf?” “Do you know what will happen if I break your

Derek came back to Earth just as the system forcefully logged him out of The Endless. He simply lay there inside the cabin with no strength or mind to open up the hatch. There was no one to get him out of there, and he seemed to be lost in his thoughts. His eyes looked unfocused, and his mind seemed to be heavily affected by Jason’s beating. About an hour later, his lackeys got in contact with his family to check on him, and they had to use the external ejection button to get him out of the cabin and take him to the hospital. All the while, Derek did not know what was happening around him. … “Doctor, how is my son?” The older gentleman looked worried, and a middle-aged woman sat by Derek's bed, crying. “Honestly, Mr. Derek is completely healthy. But he is in shock. This isn’t something simple. Mr. Derek must have faced some serious trauma.” “But… He was at home. My son was fine yesterday, and he only played games.” “Dad….” The eldest son of the West family, Derek West’s eld

“Dad! That… That can’t be….”“Why? Do you think people are truly incapable? The Endless is the most invested game in the world, and Jason Hope is the top player. You should thank your daughter for recruiting him into our guild.”“But, that contract….”“It is for the best.”The older man shook his head. His son didn’t understand what it meant to have the gratitude of other people. His Granddaughter supported this kid when he was at his lowest, and surely it would have a significant impact on his future. Rather than trying to bind this young man, Ashley earned his trust and gratitude. “For now, you should stay out of this matter. Let Ashley handle it as she likes. “Te… Teacher, I… I can follow that….”Ethan stuttered when he felt the sixth spell his master taught had a pattern that naturally worked for him. He failed to follow it with his master’s speed, but he made it halfway through. “Hm? Liquid Drain! That is a powerful spell. The purpose of the spell is to drain the blood out of an enemy. A single-target spell which is used to weaken powerful enemies and kill anyone weaker than you. It is very hard to defend against since it is not a direct physical attack. Anyway, go on. Try it.”“Thank you, Teacher.”Ethan listened to the description with a thumping heart. For the first time in his life, Ethan felt a connection to a Magic Sphere. He felt both nervous and excited about the entire thing. "My Lord, twelve more people came today. That will be twenty-seven total within the week." Butch looked at their young lord who seemed to be too distracted to listen to anything. However, he knew his lord was listening to everything. This was the number of aliens that came to Heaven’s Gate within the week. All of them were chosen for the Crystal Pulse, and their lord spent a lot of money to get them to Heaven’s gate safely. The recruitment process for Crystal Pulse was happening in a steady phase. More immortal aliens would come to Heaven's Gate before they leave, and they also planned to recruit natives of their world. He felt ashamed and guilty when he saw the child who was playing with her father. They failed to protect her when she needed the protection most. 'We are so weak, and we need to take action when it is necessary.' None of them had the experience of working for a noble. Samson, who had experience in protecting nobles, wasn't used to the style of their world.

“Who is lying, Hanna?”Amelia was the one who asked the question. She naturally closed the gap between her and Jason. For the last week, their boundaries had become thin with Hanna’s demanding behaviour. Since she wanted both of them to be at her side, she would only fall asleep while hugging both of them. They severely lacked boundaries after spending most of the day close to each other. It felt natural for her to stand so close to Jason. “He is lying, Mommy!”Hanna pointed her finger at the skinny man. She heard everything, even though she was in her daddy’s hand. When this ugly uncle said this elder brother and sisters stole his money, it reminded her of the day she met her daddy. She never used her ability to read the minds of the people on purpose, but she wanted to see if what this uncle said was true. ‘Mommy and Daddy always said it is bad to lie, and this uncle is lying.’Hanna had seen many people’s hearts, but this one was among one of the ugliest ones she ever saw. It was still under Amelia’s care. The village’s housing structure remained untouched as new construction projects focused on essential production facilities and accommodations for the new settlers arriving through the ongoing clearing operations. Infrastructure plans were in place, but progress was slow due to the sheer number of projects they were juggling. If Jason or Amelia had wanted, they could have easily upgraded their home—no one would have objected. After all, this small house was the heart of the Crystal Pulse, the centre of absolute power within the faction. "What a small place," the hooded figure muttered as he entered the heart of the Brodice Kingdom’s capital. His voice, a slightly older male tone, carried a mix of amusement and disappointment. "And why is their security so bad?" he added, his sharp eyes scanning the bustling streets.Soldiers packed every corner and alley, their inspections meticulous. Even the citizens were forced to pass through layers upon layers of security just to move about. Yet, despite the apparent vigilance, no one noticed him. Draped in a black cloak, the figure walked openly down the middle of the road, his presence going entirely undetected."Well... they have to be careful. That bounty is indeed tempting," he muttered to himself, a sly grin creeping across his hidden face. "Ah, I wish I were as young as I was back then. Maybe I could’ve finished off these weaklings myself for that reward." His voice carried a mocking tone. "The Crystal Pulse? What a bland name for such a daring organisation."He chuckled s

"No, I’m saying they’re going overboard.""Isn’t that what they always do? This isn’t the first time The Crystal Pulse has attacked players unprovoked.""We have to do something about it—fast."The discussion had devolved into an argument the moment it started. Some of the most famous gamers across the country had gathered in one place, a rare occurrence in itself. The Endless had grown too big to ignore, and even gamers who had avoided it initially had now established themselves in the challenging yet captivating world of the game.Ironically, most of them seemed to have forgotten that The Crystal Pulse was the primary reason players had been able to thrive in The Endless in the first place. It was The Crystal Pulse’s infrastructure and guidance that allowed players to survive in this mercilessly realistic game. Their success had been the beacon that drew many to the VR game considered the hardest ever created. Yet here they were, plotting ways to overthrow the very organization that

"We move out in an hour!" Logan’s commanding voice echoed through the camp, followed by a notification on their armbands. The message was clear: time to prepare.Gillian gritted her teeth as she tightened the strap around the wound on her arm, the healing paste already numbing the pain. She had a few healing potions tucked away in her pack, but she knew she couldn’t waste them. Supplies were limited, and every soldier had been issued a fixed amount by Crystal Pulse. While the organization would do whatever it took to keep them alive, this was part of their training—learning to manage resources in the heat of battle.'I heard they’re watching us anyway,' Gillian thought, her mind drifting. Since leaving Light Shone, several Grandmasters had vanished from the village, and she suspected they were nearby, keeping a close eye on the mission. The first and most important rule for Crystal Pulse players was not to die, even if respawning in eighteen hours was an option.'Logan is confident en

  • 297 - Cosmic Horror

'His mutation is changing. Or... should I say improving?' Amelia observed Jason closely as the changes in his body unfolded with each passing second. The starry night-like texture on his left side began to expand subtly toward the right, slowly overtaking the black, armour-like skin. However, the transformation seemed restrained, as though the artefact lacked the power to fully support Jason's demand. The process lasted nearly an hour before the dagger, once brimming with ominous energy, dulled completely, its power entirely drained.Jason’s body underwent slight changes—a small part of his pitch-black armour faded, replaced by the cosmic texture of the starry night. Finally, he opened his eyes, feeling a rare sense of relief. The artifact's mutation had been neutralised; it would no longer corrupt anyone or anything. For the first time in a long while, he felt as though a small part of his burden had been lifted.“Well... you can’t go out like that!” Amelia’s voice pulled him from his

Jason’s gaze returned to the towering demon before him, but he didn’t feel it was worth his attention. His glowing eyes simply stared at the massive figure for a brief moment before he swung his right arm through the air with effortless precision. It was as if he was clawing at the distant figure. A second later, several glowing white lines expanded across the space, moving faster than the eye could track. They reached the demon in an instant, cutting through its form. Behind it, the underground mountain erupted into a cloud of dust, disintegrating as though it had been struck by an invisible force. For a heartbeat, the Greater Demon stood there, frozen in place as if nothing had happened. Then, with a sickening sound, its colossal body crumbled to the ground in pieces, diced cleanly by Jason’s strike.“Screech!” A high-pitched wail echoed across the cavern as panicked creatures scattered, their movements erratic and mindless in the wake of their apex predator’s death.
