234 - We Are Going To Win

“Master, it is all true. They are distributing fertile land to the people of Light Shone. Since there are not enough people to cultivate all the land, they give aliens their points for cultivating.”

“They are giving land for free?”

Coal raised his head and looked at his trusted aid with surprise.

“Land is free, but the owners have to give thirty percent of their harvest to the Crystal Pulse for the next twenty years. And….”

“And?”

“They have already cleared the land. These people just have to start farming. But they can’t do anything else in those pieces of land except for farming.”

“No wonder everyone is looking so joyful. But why hasn’t anyone made this public?”

“I only heard this in the new pub, Master. They are not trying to gain fame, it seems. Natives are even more impressed with their silence.”

The newly opened pub already reached the peak of popularity within days. It was among the new buildings they opened in the village. Since there were no other pubs or bars in Light Shone, this place naturally became the centre of attraction for the tired soldiers, wary travellers, and even for those who did hard labour.

“I see.”

Coal understood the mindset of these people.

Light Shone was an abandoned village by everyone, and anyone who had the strength to leave this village had already left. No one cared who lived here or how they survived in the most dangerous part of their world.

The first one ever to care about these people was Jason Hope. He was the one who created the Crystal Pulse and brought the people of Light Shone together. He was the one who fed these people and made them feel safe.

No one cared where these people built their houses and no one minded who owned the land. However, the Crystal Pulse made land deeds for the villagers and those who bought a piece of land from Light Shone. Rather than making people angry, this made them feel a sense of belonging to this distant land.

With Jason’s unyielding attitude and strength, he made these poor villagers feel they had the protection of an overlord.

As a noble, no one would have cared if Jason took ownership of the land, and his action of giving the land to people looked ridiculous, even to Coal.

‘He must have a plan. Wait…. He wants to earn more loyalty.’

Coal suddenly felt he saw through Jason Hope’s plan. No matter what, Jason was an alien to this world. If he wanted to solidify his place on Yuriel, he should make people follow him. Of course, Jason’s strength already made him a perfect leader, but strength alone wasn’t enough to make people follow him.

‘But why is he not making this news public? I am sure more and more commoners will love to join him.’

He realised he couldn’t figure out what Jason Hope and his people were thinking.

The new commercial buildings included a couple of Inns, hotels and some restaurants. These buildings were useless to Light Shone unless this arriving crowd decided to stay behind after the festival.

‘Is that his plan? But how is he planning to do that?’

Coal felt Jason’s plan was a good one, but he felt it was a waste to be lowkey when they needed popularity. Sure, this attitude would make natives respect him more, but it wasn’t good for attracting more people.

“They have posted a lot of jobs at the entrance, Master.”

“Jobs?”

“Yes. Near the village gate, there is a big notice board with many news job announcements. There are people reading them to those who can’t read them. I mean… There are like a thousand jobs, if not more, Master.”

“That is actually not bad.”

Coal’s eyes brightened up with amusement.

Simply putting notices of so many jobs would definitely drag the attention of all necessary parties. There was no need to publish anything, those who read the board would do the advertising work for the Crystal Pulse.

‘They are planning to keep people here.’

The Crystal Pulse extended their invitations to many organisations, but there were no discriminations on who could attend the event. The words were that whoever could attend was welcome to join. Those who would compete in various events had to register first, and after they would get all the basics provided by the Crystal Pulse.

‘They are basically letting those people come here for free. I wonder how much they are going to spend on this celebration.’

The number of caravans they passed along the way with goods was considerably high, and it was obvious the people of the Crystal Pulse spent astronomical amounts for the celebration.

‘Well… They are rich enough.’

Jason’s runes, rare herbs, scrolls, and many other products from this small village caught the eyes of nobles around the world. Besides, they had three functioning Magic Stone mines.

‘Sigh. I hope they can really stop these people from leaving.’

Coal wondered if all these would be enough to keep these people here or attract them back.

New hotels, Inns and other establishments were great, but Light Shone still didn’t show them that spark which could attract people to these desolate lands.

The work and other benefits were there, and he admitted the aliens loved and hated the Crystal Pulse with passion, but what could they offer the natives to make them stay here?

‘The festival will be the key. Let’s see if they could actually do it.’

“Shall we go to the new restaurant? They have more things I like to try. We can also check those odd jobs they have.”

Coal thought of the new restaurant where they served the alien food made from local products.

He loved the taste of the food they called Burgers, and he wanted to try the other things on the menu.

Also, there were many more things he wanted to try in those newly opened establishments.

‘This is beyond what I expected.’

Coal certainly didn’t expect to see this many people gathered around the notice board. There was an especially erected building next to it to assist those who wanted to apply for various tasks.

The number of jobs on the boards far exceeded his expectations, and the sheer number of aliens and natives gathered around it showed the attractions it brought. There were jobs ranging from farmers and minors, to all the way to cooks, and assistant position makers.

There were openings for shop assistants, cleaners, hunters, and many more.

‘It is like they are building a city. No! This is not what they have in a city, this is like a new kingdom.’

Coal looked at the promised salaries written in points, and he found them to be very generous. This was simply offering these people to move in and start anew.

“Roger. We should go out.”

“Yeah. Let’s go. I want to do my live stream.”

“For what? Dude, there are so many missions available. Let’s do those.”

“Missions? Like the ones they put on the website?”

Roger found the development of this small village to be impressive, and he gained quite a few views after live streaming the new development around this small village. The missions he saw on the Crystal Pulse website didn’t attract him much. Also, he wanted to catch a glimpse of Jason for his viewers.

“I was thinking about going to this new Burger place and live streaming. It is more exciting.”

Most players didn’t have to go into a hotel to stay. They simply stayed in the village and logged out at night. The only restriction was that they couldn’t enter the old residence area where Jason and the others had their houses.

The players like him who didn’t sign up for the upcoming event didn’t receive free accommodation, but it wasn’t a problem. After all, he was here to enjoy the anniversary of The Endless.

Besides, things here were affordable to everyone, and he already exchanged the money for points. As long as they didn’t chase much luxury, everything here was affordable. He didn’t plan on taking missions while he was here.

“No. You wanted to learn about potions, right? They are hiring assistants.”

“For real?”

Finally, Roger felt interested.

“Yeah. There is a noticeboard full of jobs, man. I was thinking about joining as a hunter to learn how to hunt.”

“What are you waiting for?”

He could stream about potion making, and it would be a new attraction no one else delivered before.

Within a couple of hours, the new job opportunities present in Light Shone took the gaming community by surprise. Some of the rare occupations available in Light Shone weren’t accessible to the players anywhere else.

Options to work in potion making, tannery, and blacksmith were rare for the players. Also, The sheer number of quests with attractive rewards made most of the players who came to Light Shone rethink about returning to their spawn place.

This was the first time they saw the potential of secondary occupations in The Endless, and the restaurants and other establishments run by the player became a hot topic.

“It is working.”

Dane nodded his head with satisfaction.

“We just have to persuade those natives to stay behind and bring more of their assets. I guess we can give it a try.”

Scott felt relieved as he scrolled through the raging forum. Their plan of roping in more players seemed to take effect, and they just had to make sure the players would stay.

They needed the numbers to expand Light Shone. Since Jason wasn’t going to move anywhere else, all they could do was bring everything else to Light Shone.

“Don’t worry, they will stop when we serve the main course.”

“I really hope so, but everyone is worried about the war.”

“Who cares? We are going to win the war, right?”

Bruce’s enthusiastic words made everyone silent.

Bruce was the most enthusiastic of them all. After all, he had enough content to broadcast for months, and he had the responsibility of broadcasting the entire event. To him, this was his golden opportunity to shine. As for things like war, they weren’t in his area of concern.

Fighting and killing were Jason’s work, and he had his own job to do.
