For several minutes, there was silence on the phone as both of them remained quiet. He didn't know how to approach what they have been avoiding but one way or the other, he knew he had to talk.
''Susan.'' he began.
The only indication he had that she was still with him was her shallow breathing. He knew he needed to apologize as fast as possible because for one, it was overdue and secondly, it was the proper thing to do.
''I'm sorry for the way I reacted the last time we saw each other. What I did was wrong and I hope you find a place in your heart to forgive me,'' he said.
