Chapter 8

Zach pulls a penknife from his trouser pocket. He was swinging the knife in every direction.

It hit the wolves that were surrounding it several times. His hands were frequently bitten by wolves.

The wild wolves he encountered were very similar to wolves in the real world. Unlike his wolf, who looks like a Siberian husky dog.

'And the wild wolf doesn't look cute at all!'

Ray manages to unsheathe a sword in front of more than a dozen wolves. When the wolves died, they vanished like smoke, leaving behind shiny yellow gemstones the size of marbles.

"Zach, I'll be right over! Hold on!" Ray yelled without turning his head.

The alpha wolf, on the other hand, was watching from a distance with two other wolves. The three wolves had no interest in Ray or Zach. Their gazes were fixed on the sirhaan wolf.

Zach's wolf killed wild wolves by biting their necks. She did it as if she were dealing with a small insect.

Unfortunately, Zach cannot see her. The weak young man was still focused on defending himself from the swarming wild wolves.

'Shit! You guys are just like Harris and his friends, who constantly trample on me!'

Zach was wearing a jacket with numerous holes in it. The bites of the wild wolves severely injured his hands.

The alpha wolf howls again. The pack of wild wolves that had surrounded Zach and Ray suddenly backed away.

"Huh? What are they doing?" Ray panted.

Zach noticed the same thing. They were surrounded by gemstones.

"You're doing great, Ray!"

"It wasn't me who killed most of them. I only killed twenty-six of them, including the wolves I previously killed."

The alpha wolf's howling ceased and was replaced by a whimper of pain. Zach and Ray both turned their heads at the same time.

"Your dog beat him, Zach!"

The sirhaan wolf is still biting the alpha's neck, which has gone limp. Despite the fact that she is smaller than the alpha. Several other lifeless wolves lay beside her.

The wolf corpses are dissolving into billowing smoke. As the smoke cleared, grains of gemstones began to fall like hail.

Zach's wolf is running towards him, wagging her tail. Zach stroked the wolf lovingly as he hugged it.

"Good girl!"

[Your pet successfully defeated 75 wild wolves and 1 alpha wolf.]

[Pet level up +8. Ability increased by 8%. The current level is 18.]

[Your level has increased by 8 points.]

[Your current level is 35.]

"Zach, hurry up and collect the gems!" Ray was ecstatic.

Zach stands up quickly and takes the yellow gemstones one by one. He also takes the silvery alpha wolf, which is worth 10 yellow stones.

Zach was on the verge of slipping the silver gem into his trouser pocket. But, just as he was about to save it, a notification hologram screen appeared.

[Alpha wolf wild gemstone. Can be used to craft rare accessories, level up similar pets, or sell to NPC traders or other players.]

Zach's wolf ate the gemstone in his hands unexpectedly. "Hey!" exclaimed Zach.

[Pet level up +15. The current level is 33.]

[Your level is 50.]

The bronze symbols on the level were changed to silver. "Wow... It's this simple to level up," Zach grumbled.

[The equipment warehouse has increased by 10 tiles, a total of 25 tiles.]

"What's wrong, Zach?"

"My pet ate the alpha gemstone!"

"How is that possible? They can only consume the core of their own species, as far as I know."

'Because she's a wolf and not a dog,' Zach thought. He was hesitant to tell Ray.

Zach understands the value of the sirhaan wolf after the NPC uproar and Gordon's offer yesterday. The fewer people who are aware of his wolf identity, the better.

"I don't know either. But she definitely ate it."

"That won't increase her level. It was a waste for her to kill the alpha."

"Sorry."

"It is all yours, Zach. You can do whatever you want with those gemstones." Ray pointed to the gemstones that were still scattered on the ground. "I already have mine."

Zach had gathered 75 yellow gemstones. He handed Ray 24 of them.

"Ray, this is for you. So yours is 50 and mine is 51."

"Pfftt... Players can just kill each other to get gemstones, but you want to give it to me for free?"

"You've been extremely helpful. I hate being in debt."

Zach gave the gemstone to protect himself. Ray could have stabbed him while he was off guard and then taken everything. It is preferable to give Ray first so that their numbers are equal.

"Queen Serena Raff never said we couldn't give it to others, did she? She only said we couldn't take it by force without killing. And I'm not forced to give this to you."

"Take this. I also want to know if my theory is right or wrong. If this is the case, Queen Serena may have purposefully forced the players to kill each other." Zach insisted.

"Fine, I will take it."

Each player can only view the menu screen in private. Zach sat there waiting for Ray to finish reading their transaction statement.

"You are right, Zach! I just received notification that my gemstone value has increased by 24! That lady wolf wants to play with us, dammit!"

"Hahaha. But the lady wolf is stunning."

Ray smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Don't do this to other players, by the way. Fortunately, I don't want to tarnish my real-world career. But that doesn't mean everyone shares my viewpoint. Zach, you need to be more cautious."

"I will keep that in mind. What exactly do you do, if I may inquire?"

"I'm a physical education teacher at a high school."

A man was following Zach and Ray from a distance while they were talking. The man aims an arrow at the two of them alternately.

The man is talking to himself, "Who should I finish first? The strong or the weak?"
