23. The Waitress.

Her jaw dropped in shock. Suspicion and confusion flooded her as she threw her gaze to Henry, staring at him up and down.

Doubts swirled in her mind. Henry caught her staring at him. He quickly understood that look.

"Wait...you don't think I can…?" He frowned.

"Sir, I really don't want to bother you and no worries I can manage myself..." she interrupted hesitantly because she didn't believe he could have that kind of money, and even if he did, she didn't want to be a burden. But the truth was she was drowning in debts and didn't know where to turn.

Henry cut her off, "Oh lest I forget, you have a boyfriend right? He would provide it for you, so no need for those tears you are dropping."

Irene froze, clenching her fists in her lap. Boyfriend? She could feel fresh tears welling up but swiftly turned away, gazing fiercely out the window to hide her watery eyes.
