CHAPTER TWELVE

I slid on the steel floor as I dodged his sword to finish me off. Well, my dagger, actually. At some point in our fight, the damn bastard took my dagger and was now using it against its master. How ironic.

And after I failed to decapitate him, he was more pissed that I even tried to do that to him. I only managed to injure him on the neck, enough to make some blood splash.

He then kicked me before I got up from the floor and do what I actually wanted to do. I went flipping on the floor, then stopped about a few paces away.

He came running in my way before I could even shake off what happened. Then he spit some blue thing at me, I sidestepped, and it missed me. But the steel wall where the blue spit hit melted.

I looked at him, and his eyes were burning with fire. Shit. I was doomed. So, I did the dumbest thing ever. I went running to him. Shooting at him just to keep him busy. But he was using his blue things to keep himself safe and also to distract me.

I dodged and ducked, but that did less work because I was also planning to keep him busy. Then I bent as a means of keeping my head safe from his star thing. I stretched my sword and then stubbed the side of his libs.

He mumbled in pain as he took my arm and then held me up to his face. His eyes lighting up. The same blue color as the blue spit.

“I wanted to save you and then kill the others. But you two wouldn’t just shut up about the all things. Alarming everyone around. Sorry, but you have to kick the bucket, big boy,” he looked at me with marveled eyes. But I couldn’t let him strike first.

I took my gun and blasted his head off. Blue gut covering me up. Luckily, I had the helmet and my armour on. I stood in all twos. Looking at him and his friend laying lifeless on the floor.

I never want to kill anyone. That is never my goal. But I have been in the game long enough to know that my only way out is by keeping myself safe. Make sure I survive. If I allow my emotions to get the better of me, I might just die.

There was a noise when the two men came from. I just hurried took what they wore and put them on. I needed to blend in if I’m to survive this place. I can’t take out the all lot of them. This two worsted enough of my time already. And I don’t have that much time before others show up to get the kid. Before they figure out, the people were now leaving underground for whatever reason.

I put on my helmet and made sure I wouldn’t be seen. Then I went running to them. Breathing as much as I could. Just to add in more drama. Make what I had in kind more believable, I fall to the floor and they ran to me. Helping me up.

“What happened? What is going on back there?” One of them asked.

I touched my heart as I tried to catch my breath. Deepening my voice in the process.

“There is someone on the ship. He killed two of the men. I was just lucky to have survived. You need to find him before he gets to us. I left him back there,” I murmured.

There was silence and my heart thumping like hell. Then one of them spoke.

“Everyone, I need you to find the man. Bring him alive!” He shouted, and they all left. “You two take him to the healer,” he ordered two men by his side.

They helped me up and began walking me to the so-called healer. Step two done. I need now to get to the prison and get the hell out of this place before they find out I’m the intruder.

We reached some kind of opening. People walking up and down. Well, not real people. They all looked like the men I just killed. But I spotted some with point long ears. And they seemed to glow at the tip of it.

They dipped their heads at some people that wore different clothing than them. And just to blend in, I did the same. But never said anything as they did. Because they used a different language that I didn’t know and never heard of.

“Keep hanging there, man. We will be there soon,” the one to my right spoke.

“You are luck to have survived it. Keep breathing, mate,” the one to my left added in his British accent.

We entered the elevator, and it took off.

“Do you mind getting me some medication to easy the pain in the pocket of my knees?” I murmured.

“Sure. Can you hold on to him?” The one to my right spoke.

Then I kicked him on the face with my knees and hurriedly retreated to uppercut the other one. I withdrew my dagger and stubbed the one to my right in the heart. Then pointed a gun at the one to my left.

He raised his hand in the air in surrender. Glaring at me.

“I survived because I’m the one that killed them,” I smiled. “Listen man. It’s nothing personal. I’m just trying to survive like everyone else,” I spoke.

“But we are not killing people. You came to us. Whatever did we do to you, human?” he asked as I opened up my helmet.

“Nothing. But you wouldn’t have allowed me to take one of your prisoners. Hence, I’m forced to do things like this,” I smiled at him and blasted his head off. And this time, the blue gut splashed on my face. “Dammit,” I spoke as I took his clothing and wiped it away.

The elevator stopped, and I looked from right to left. People were moving everywhere. So, I pressed on the button to the top floor as I brought the screen up.

“Let’s see what you have got,” I began pressing on the tiny buttons as I tracked the boy. Hoping to find the location. Because the people that assigned us the job needed to upload the location of the boy, at least. As far as I knew.

But there was nothing at all. “Bustards,” I purred as I took my gun and shoot at the roof of the elevator as it almost reached its destination.

By now, they might have figured out where the noise was coming from and they were here. I need to hurry with finding the boy. I took some drive from one of the men and inserted it into the screen activator on my arm.

Then I climbed up as the elevator stopped. Opened up the roof again and went outside the damn building. Apparently, it didn’t lead me outside the place. On the surface. But just on top of the building. They were really clever the way they made their place. Just like a place like any other, even though it was underground.

Before I could even jump to the next building, I heard someone scream on top of their lungs. Screw the people that took the direction to the boy out of the internet. Now I have to take time finding the boy.

I sighed as I jumped to the next building, but I failed and hang on the roof with only my hands keeping me hanging. Keeping me from falling on a twenty floor or more building.

I tried to help myself up, but failed miserably.

“Need a hand?” Talon asked as he smiled at me. Making me know I will never stop hearing this from him.

What the hell was he even doing here? He was supposed to be waiting for me on the ship with others.

“Do you need help or I should let you fall and see your life flash in front of your eyes?” He asked, still smiling.

“I need your help,” I mumbled as he stretched a rope at me. He walked over and put it somewhere, then gestured for me to hold on to it. He pressed on the buttons on his hand and the rope pulled me up.

He was a cat and yet he had more things than I did. More things to help him out. That is why he managed to even be at a higher level than I was.

“Ready to admit I’m better than you?” He asked.

I just got up, ignoring what he had just asked me. “What are you doing here?” I asked as I looked around for anything. “I thought you were busy with what you went to do.”

“I finished sooner. Hopped you needed help,” he spoke. “And I didn’t find the space ship anywhere. So I came here because you talked about it the all day,” he said as we looked from all sides.

“What do you mean the spaceship is not there?” This is the last thing I need right now.
