Chapter Fifty-Four – Leave

Dominic packed the car in his garage and stretched when he got down. It was time for his body to rest or he’d be useless the next day. He sluggishly walked to his house.

Suddenly, a person jumped on him. Timely, he moved aside but made a roundhouse kick to whoever it was. His leg was caught and the person began laughing.

“You looked like you were sleepwalking but you’re still so agile.” Bethany chuckled. “Man, you’re funny.”

It wasn’t funny to Dominic. That’s an unnecessary movement he had to make. “Weren’t you supposed to be at the hospital? What are you doing here?”

Bethany exhaled, finally dropping Dominic’s leg. “I reasoned that I’d rather be where my son is. So I came here.”

“To pick him, right?” Dominic gave Bethany the side eyes.

“Come on, you have lots of rooms here. I can’t borrow one?”

“Yes, you can’t.” Dominic deadpanned. “Return tomorrow for Bobo. He’s asleep. He’s eaten and played so let him rest.”
