Chain Reaction

Bandy snickered. "BANDY?!" Rose smiled. He then shape shifted into a golden retriever and ran down the stairs of the building, he soon reached us and turned back into himself. "It's been so long." He smiled. I teared up and went over to him, hugging him tightly. "Woah, are you good? Cody?" He looked around, his ears twitching. "Where is Aya? I swear you two were inseparable." He looked back at me. Rose frowned.

He noticed Rose's frown and he gasped. "Oh god… Cody. I'm so sorry." I nodded slightly. "How did she die…?" Bandy asked. I looked away. "Did you find her body?" He asked and he shook his head. "Maybe there is a possibility that she is still out there." Bandy smiled, I looked up at him and smiled. "Maybe she is."

"Don't give him hope, he was searching for days." Stalker sighed; Andrew nodded. "Maybe he is right, she could be out there looking for you." Stalker pinched Andrew's ear. "OW! OW! OW!" Andrew tried to get away from him. "We aren't going to give him hope just for it to crash down."

I looked at Stalker and Andrew. "It's okay, maybe she is alive. And if she isn't then… it is what it is." Dani frowned and went over, slapping me. My eyes widened; I rubbed my face. "Don't give up on hope, and do not say it is what it is. Because it isn't." She hugged me. "And I am sorry about slapping you, I felt like it." Dani chuckled, I hugged her back. "Yeah… I know." I looked at Bandy. "So, what are you doing out here?"

"We are at war against Hayden, so I'm keeping an eye on the city; with Finn and Maverick." He sighed. "They're alive?!" I smiled. "Yeah, I'm not sure about Lucifer… and Brick." Bandy frowned. "What happened to them?" I asked.

"Brick went off on his own a couple years ago and Lucifer went mad due to the war against Hayden; so she ran away. We've sent groups to look for her, but they never returned. It's been a few weeks since then." Bandy sighed. "How many casualties?" I asked. "Around 74?"

Bandy began to walk. "Which safe haven are you guys heading to? I will gladly escort you!" Emmy went over to Bandy. "We're going to the one close to the barber shop." Emmy looked at him, she held Ted's hand. "Ted wants to meet friends there!" Ted smiled, his ears poking out.

Bandy looked at Ted and smiled. "And you will meet friends! Everyone in that safe haven is lovely!" I walked next to Bandy, we saw two people heading our way, they pulled down their masks and ran over. "CODY!" Finn yelled; Maverick just walked over. "Sup!" He smiled. I looked at them. "Hey."

"It's been a long ass time. How have you been?" Finn smiled; I scratched my head. "I've been ass." Dani sighed. Bandy looked at Maverick and Finn. "Do not ask where Aya is, she's gone." He looked at the two, who frowned. "I'm sorry." Finn frowned and turned around; we were all getting back together after 5 years; it felt weird. Really weird, especially since Hayden is at war with the safe havens, why would he want to attack them?

"How did the war happen?" I asked. "Lucifer accidentally started it, she killed Hayden's right-hand man in a tussle for supplies… he tripped and fell out of a window, we were trying to team as a deal for supplies. But it went all wrong and they got greedy. It worked for a while, but yeah. Guilt filled Lucifer and she ran away."  Bandy sighed.

I frowned. "She helped me when I was in need, I will repay her back." I looked at Bandy, who smiled. "You will?!" I nodded. "I owe you guys." Bandy looked up at the sky. "You don't owe us anything." Bandy replied. "Yeah, we're all friends!" Maverick agreed. "But you're on time. We are going to send a group to find Lucifer, tomorrow that is." Bandy looked at us. "I am always happy to help!" Ash cheered. Maverick gazed at Ash. "HOLY SHIT YOU'RE TALL!" Maverick yelled, pointing at Ash.

Ash laughed and patted Evelyn. "You can say that again." He responded, Dak and Annabelle just looked at each other and shrugged. "Fuck it, we will help as well." Annabelle smiled. Jug walked past them. "Where are you going, Jug?" I asked. Jug looked over. "I want to sleep already!" Jug smiled. "EH?" Dani went over and pulled Jug by the ear. "What do you mean you want to sleep?!" She grinned. "You guys will be able to sleep comfortably when we reach the safe haven!" Finn laughed, Dani let go of Jug and smiled. "Really?!"

"Hypocrite." Jug muttered; Dani slowly turned her head around in response. "Repeat that again." Dani stared at him. "You're even scarier now." Jug mumbled, I laughed a bit, I went over to Jug and Dani. "Come on, we're all friends here. Right?" I looked at everyone, who smiled. "Yeah." Ash smiled.

Evelyn went over to me; I raised my eyebrows. "Yes, Evelyn?" Evelyn smiled and put her hand out, I tilted my head. "Eh?"

Dani raised her hand; she was going to karate chop me. She just lowered her hand. "I'm done bullying you guys for today." Dani yawned. "Shake her hand, dude."

I chuckled nervously. "Oh." I shook her hand and she smiled. "Friend!" Evelyn looked at Ash, who smiled. He was glad Evelyn was finally getting out of her comfort zone; she needed friends her age.

Ash looked at Rose. "Climb on my back." He lowered her down. She nodded and climbed on his back carefully. "My arms are getting sore." He chuckled.

"Onwards!" Ted smiled and began to run. "OI! GET BACK HERE!" Emmy ran after Ted. Ted stopped running and stood by an alleyway; he smiled. "Tag!"

I ran over to him. "Now is not the time." I rested a hand on his hand and ruffled his hair. "Come on, let's go to your mom." Dani ran over. "CODY!" I raised an eyebrow and looked over at them, they were all running towards me and Ted; but why?

I looked up and saw numerous biters limping out of the alleyway and towards us, a biter stared at us and growled, it knelt towards us. My heart sank, I don't usually get scared when a biter attacks me, but since I have Ted; I am scared shitless.

My eyes widened; Dani aimed her bow. There were about 12 biters coming out from the alleyway; this was abnormal, biters don't usually go in groups anymore.

I pulled out my curved blades and sliced the biter's jaw so that it couldn't bite us; the biter clumsily fell over, they were weak. That's the thing. But all clustered up and hungry… you better watch your ass.

I only needed one blade for this, so I put my left blade back in my sheath and grabbed a hold of Ted's hand. "Stay close to me." Bandy aimed his rifle and fired at one of the biters, the biter Bandy shot fell to the ground.

Stalker aimed his AK-47 and began shooting the biters. I then jabbed the blade into the biter’s skull, killing it. The biters were finished quickly, very quickly. We paused, listening to groaning. "Shh, do you hear that?" Stalker hissed. We heard ticking noises. Bandy's eyes widened. "CODY GET AWAY FROM THE BUILDING!" He yelled.

I turned around and my eyes widened, I wrapped my arms around Ted and dived away as soon as the building exploded, debris flew everywhere. Dani ran over. "CODY! TED!" She yelled and checked on us. Ted was alright and I was a little scratched up.

She rested a hand on my cheek, I looked at her. "You good?" She asked, holding her bow with her other hand. I nodded. "Yeah, what was that?" Dani looked over at the building. "It was a trap." Bandy aimed his rifle, looking around as more ticking blurred out. Buildings around them began to explode. "QUICK! TAKE COVER!" Stalker grabbed Alice's hand and took cover behind a car, Evelyn, Ash and Rose were hiding behind a hostess truck, Bandy, Maverick and Finn stood there, keeping their guns aimed.

The chain reaction ended, and now it was silent. Dani had her arms wrapped around Ted and I; some debris did hit us, but we didn't care.

I lifted my head and looked around, a few seconds later a rotten hand grabbed the side of one of the exploded buildings and limped out. There were biters inside of the buildings. The biter began to flood out. "Shit!" Bandy aimed his rifle and fired, killing a biter.

"We need to go." Dani stood up and so did I. "What about mom?" Ted asked, Emmy looked at us and nodded, she pulled out her gun and Aria did the same; she trusted us with Ted after what Dani and I just did. "Stay safe you three!" Ash picked up a biter and casually crushed its head. "YOU TOO!"

You might be thinking, why aren't we just not running through? Well, the biters flooded the entire street and blocked our way back, we also have a kid to protect now.

Dani grabbed my hand. "Hey Ted, climb on Cody's back." He nodded and climbed on my back. "Now we run for our lives!" Dani yelled and we ran with biters following us, gunshots blasted through our eardrums, they soon faded and all we heard were the growls of hungry biters.
