What We Do In The Shadows

Ted stood there, clenching the crowbar with his little hands. He was panting. "No…. One… hurts… Ted's friends… ever again…" Dak stood up, wincing. "Are you good?" Dani asked, walking over. She occasionally stomped on the spiders. "I don't know, a brown recluse bit me." Dak sighed.

I looked at Emmy and then at Dak. "Shit We will have to bring you to the safe haven so Ash can help y—" Dak chuckled a bit. "I'm sorry kiddo, but in about a day or so I'm donezo." I frowned. "We will get out soon." Dak shined his flashlight up on the roof. "There is a vent." Climbed on top of the rotten table and swiped spider webs away before using the screwdriver to get the bolts out, he grabbed the lid and threw it on the ground. "None of us will be able to fit in there without getting stuck."

Ted climbed onto the table. "Ted will do it." My eyes widened. "Ted, it's dangerous!" I warned him. "It's our only way out." Ted looked at Dak as he handed him the flashlight.

Ted grabbed it as Dak lifted him up. "Ted, stay safe!" Emmy smiled. Ted looked at Emmy. "Ted will stay safe." He smiled as he grabbed onto the edges and climbed inside. He had the crowbar beside him as he shined the flashlight around the small space, there were spider webs everywhere. "There's a lot of spider webs!" He yelled. "Don't worry. Use the crowbar to swipe the spiderwebs away!" Dak yelled as he sat down, sighing.

Ted nodded and swung the crowbar at the spider webs and continued to crawl deeper into the vent.

I sighed and stood next to Dani. "What is it?" She looked at me, she could see the dried-up tears. "Cody…" she whispered. Dani went over and hugged me, I just stood there. "She's going to die." I whispered back. "I know… it's going to happen to all of us someday…" she played with my hair in an act to calm me down, she knew that I was crying? Yeah, she definitely knew. "It's happening too soon…"

Dani nodded. "Are you going to kill that Hayden guy?" She asked and I nodded. "I should have killed him back in that school. I don't know why I didn't. Maybe it's because I felt sympathy for Knox…" I hugged her back. "You do know that it's okay to cry, at least in front of me." She chuckled. "Shut it." I muttered.

Dak looked at Emmy and then at us. "What are we going to do about Emmy?" He asked. "Is that really a question?" Dani growled at Dak. "She's bitten, it's only a matter of time before she turns into one of them."

"I think we should vote." Dak suggested. "And I vote that we put her down…" he raised his hand. "All who are in favour?" He looked at Dani and me. "She stays." I glared at him. "She stays alive." Dani agreed. "Okay, so we will wait for Ted then." Dak sighed. "He is not voting for his own mom to live for the remainder of her life or die." Dani walked over. "I'm fine guys, either decision is okay with me." Emmy chimed in. "What do you vote for?" Dak looked at Emmy.

Emmy sighed. "We can't risk anything, so I vote for myself to die. At least not right now. Put me down when I turn." She smiled, I frowned. I remembered how I couldn't keep that promise with Aryton, now I may have to do the same with Emmy.

Annabelle went over to Rose. "Hey." She looked at her, she smiled. "Hey." Rose took a bite out of an apple. "Does it feel safe?" Annabelle sat down. Rose nodded. "Yeah, it does." She smiled. "That's good, I'm making sure everyone feels safe." Annabelle stood up; Rose grabbed her hand in an attempt to stop her. "Stay, I'm bored." Annabelle chuckled and looked at Rose. "Well, what do you want to do?"

"Maybe a board game." Rose laughed and Annabelle nodded. "On my way." She walked off to find Bandy.

Ash looked at Evelyn. "Are you still blaming yourself? No one got hurt." He sat down next to her. "It's still my fault." She sighed; her dog ears lowered down. "Look Hun, I blamed myself for years after my wife turned into a biter. It turned me crazy. Then I realized that it wasn't my fault, there was nothing I could do." Ash chuckled softly. Evelyn frowned. "You followed your instincts, which is usually to run. You're a demi, you got treated like shit during the whole apocalypse. Even by those… monsters…" he wasn't referring to the hunters, he was referring to another group of people.

Evelyn nodded. "They're still alive though." She sighed. "I killed a few of them, I don't like killing people. But when it comes to those pricks, I will do everything in my power to make sure they suffer." Ash hugged Evelyn. "I'm saying that, you're like a daughter to me. I had a daughter; did I tell you that?" Ash smiled. Evelyn looked at him. "No, you didn't." She raised an eyebrow.

"Well, her name is Amari, back in the beginning she snuck out of the house to go to a party. Then overnight the dead struck, and I haven't seen her ever since. He frowned; Evelyn sighed. "How old would she be now?"

Ash chuckled. "My little girl would be 18 now." He smiled. "I wonder if she is alive." Evelyn smiled. "I'm pretty sure she is, I mean. I hope." Ash looked around. "But that being said, it isn't your fault. Okay?"

Aria tucked herself into her sleeping bag and yawned, she was worried about Emmy and the others. But at the same time, she was exhausted from the journey.

Jug was already asleep next to Aria; they both share a tent. Aria looked at Jug. "Pfft." She chuckled and closed her eyes.

Annabelle returned with Uno. "This was the only fun one I could find." She chuckled nervously. "That's a card game, silly." Rose smiled. "I know." She sat down. "Do you want to play it though?" Annabelle tilted her head. "Yeah, I don't mind." Annabelle opened it and handed her a stack of cards and gave herself a stack as well. "Prepare to get wrecked." Annabelle snickered. "You will not win." Rose looked at her cards. "We will see about that."

Harper leaned next to Finn. "Did you see any of Hayden's men?" Finn looked at her. "No, not today. You told me what happened, I think we are nearing that point that we have to go on a full-fledged war…" Harper sighed. "Yeah, with Cody and Rose finally here. We know that they are alive, and that's good. But I'm worried about the war. I'm also worried about the little one." Harper rested a hand on her belly. "The little one is safe with me." She smiled.

Alice tried to get into the sleeping bag. "I can't!" She whined; Andrew chuckled. "Hun, it's not that hard. See! I am tucked in already!" He smiled. After a few messes ups Alice finally got in comfortably. "I did it!" Alice smiled; half of her face was hidden in the sleeping bag. "Good job, now sleep." He chuckled and closed his eyes.

Stalker was smoking a cigarette outside in the back, there were semi trucks blocking the biters. It looked like a play area for the kids. He heard a door open, and he turned around, seeing Bandy. "Hey." Stalker pulled the cigarette from his lips and blew out the smoke. "Hey, make sure to throw the cigarette over the semis." Bandy smiled. "Yeah, will do." Stalker smiled, and Bandy leaned against the wall next to him.

"Your group, they are good people. I know that automatically because Cody would not pair with shitty people." Bandy laughed. "Was the school shit true? Like Mira and Mr. Waterworth?" Stalker asked, and Bandy nodded. "Mr. Waterworth killed one of my best friends, his name was Scowl. Did Cody tell you that?" He asked and Stalker nodded. "The Mira stuff was true, same with the gym battle that we had."

Stalker sighed. "As someone that got deployed from Russia during the beginning, we had to stop the virus from spreading there. But it was already in Russia, we've been stuck here ever since. Andrew and I do not regret it." He smiled and finished his cigarette, he flicked it over the semi truck.

"You should sleep, good night. Stalker, it was nice meeting you." Bandy walked off; Stalker nodded. "You too."

Maverick laid comfortably in a sleeping bag; he heard the tent zip. "Hey." Dash went inside. "Hey." Maverick sat up and smiled. Dash laid down in the sleeping bag next to him. "Harper's pregnant." Dash looked at Maverick. "Really?!" He smiled. "So, Finn and Harper are going to have a kid, I'm going to definitely be an uncle!" Maverick sat up with excitement on his face.

"Chill." Dash chuckled and kissed Maverick's forehead. "Go and sleep, you must be tired after staying out in the ruins for a couple of days. Maverick laid back down. "Good night." Maverick mumbled and Dash nodded. "Night." He closed his eyes.
