chapter nineteen

Rick looked back at Mark as he stepped gently up the staircase. He gazes up each time to see if his wife is peeping or waiting for him. Rick remembered the last time he saw her and held his breath. The noise and sound of the siren echoing back in his head as if it were yesterday. He looked at the door separating him from reuniting with his family, and he took a deep breath.

Rick held the knob and pulled it down. He saw his wife gently seated on the couch before him with a magazine in her hands. He stood gently looking at her and didn't know what to say to her or do. " Dad?" A boy around the age of ten squeezed his eyes as he stared at Rick, who was lost.

" Jeol." Rick said back, not believing to see his son standing before his very eyes. Jeol sprinted and ran into his open arms, asking Rick's wife to turn and look in the direction of where Jeol went.
