"This place isn't a fresh start. It's best if we leave as soon as possible!" I replied, even though I knew Kai was joking.

But his words triggered a memory. "Kai, you're a genius!" I stared into his eyes as I shook him hard by his shoulders.

"If you say so!" He shrugged.

I sprinted towards the hut that held the trunk with three cogwheel slots.

I took out the artifact from my pocket, the one my mother had given me, and placed it into the slot.

All I had to do was insert it and press, and the trunk unlocked and the top opened gently on its own.

Inside the trunk, there was a pile of hay.

"Who locks up the hay like this?" Kai asked. "Is this the golden haystack? The one made by the great Rumpelstiltskin?" he added.

"The great what?" Jennifer looked at him with confusion.

"It's from that story we heard as kids where the..." Before he could continue, he noticed the anger building up within her gaze and decided to stay silent adding "Never mind!"
