“At first, I thought you’re just an ordinary woman in the Capital hall, but who would have thought you’re such an important person?” Zayne smirked.

Frowning, Seraphine was about to ask Zayne what he was talking about when suddenly, Francis’ words echoed in her mind.

‘Could it be because of that?’ Seraphine thought, remembering Francis’ statement earlier about her being Oliver’s wife. ‘What do these people want from him?’

But first, she needed to confirm something.

“Are you the one who asked them to steal the drugs from the Capital Hall?” Seraphine asked, seeing that Zayne and Francis were accomplices.

Although the answer was already obvious, she still wanted to confirm it.

“Steal? That’s a big accusation, Miss Carter,” Zayne replied, his lips curving into a smirk. “What I asked them to do isn’t steal. I’m just taking back what’s ours.”

Seraphine froze as she felt like a bucket full of ice was poured at her.

All along, the enemy they were looking for a long time… was already within the

In a snap, Zayne slammed Francis to the wall. His hands went onto Francis’ neck, choking him, and causing the latter to have difficulty breathing.“She’s still the sibling of someone important to me,” Zayne muttered, his voice laced with warning. “If you lay a hand on her, I’ll fucking kill you.”Francis didn’t need to be warned twice. He nodded repeatedly as his hands went onto Zayne's, trying to remove his hand. But Zayne didn’t budge. His hands remained on choking Francis for a moment before Zayne threw him on the floor.Without saying another word, Zayne exited the area, and Francis immediately stood up and fixed himself to follow his boss.On the other hand, Seraphine had her brows furrowed upon hearing Zayne’s statement.‘Sibling? But I only have one,’ Seraphine thought, referring to Rebecca. Her eyes widened afterward, realizing that Rebecca could be the one Zayne was talking about, especially since they were from the same town.‘How did Zayne know my sister?’ asked Seraphine a

Samuel, Nick, and Ray’s gaze moved at Oliver upon hearing James’ question. All of them shared the same agreement with James, so they were shocked to find out that Oliver would answer the opposite. Also, they remembered how Oliver decided to abort the mission after knowing that Seraphine Carter was the only person who had access to the restricted safe.Only one question was forming in their mind now. Why was Oliver protecting Seraphine?“I don’t know her that much,” Oliver answered, looking away. “She’s the first person in the managerial department to treat me properly despite my position.”“Point taken, but it wasn’t still enough to prove she’s a good person,” James smirked. “After all, one of your colleagues turned into an enemy.”He was talking about Melvin, and Oliver nodded, understanding what he wanted to say.Oliver still has some information on his sleeve—something he didn’t share fully with Legion V and James—since his intuition tells him not to do it.“Some people are shit, a

For a moment, no one spoke.James’ fists trembled at his sides, his knuckles white. His breaths came sharp and unsteady. He wanted to punch Oliver for making him feel this way. But at the same time, he knew Oliver had a point in one statement he uttered.Deep inside his heart, James felt guilty for neglecting Jack back then. They even had more bonding moments in the hospital than when living in the same house.“You’re thinking it all wrong, James,” Ray said gently, trying to calm James down. “No one here liked what happened. You don't even have any idea how much we’re suffering until now because of his death.”The sincerity was evident in Ray’s voice. It was the truth; the pain was still with them even though Jack died for a long time already.James didn’t answer. Instead, he looked away, biting his lip hard.‘All along, I thought no one cared when Jack died,’ James thought, feeling the pain in his heart. ‘I searched for them, but no one wasn’t to be found, causing me to think they we

Everyone turned to Oliver, trying to grasp the weight of his words—except for Ray, who understood immediately.“So, what are we doing about Francis?” Ray asked, shifting the conversation. “Are we letting him go for now?”“Taking him carelessly wouldn’t be an option, but that doesn’t mean we’ll let him go,” Oliver answered coldly. “I’ll go to work as Oliver Wellington tomorrow, and I’ll approach Francis with that disguise.”Samuel frowned, his concern evident. “What if he already knows you’re Oliver Hunt? That plan could backfire, especially since you’ll be alone.”Oliver paused, considering the risk. Then, his fists clenched slightly as he spoke.“If that’s the case, it means we’re getting closer to uncovering the third accomplice.” His voice was steady, resolute. “And while I may be alone in Capital Hall, I know you all have my back if things go south.”“What if he also knows about Legion V’s existence?” Nick couldn’t help but ask, looking at the computer screen. “Those people were a

He stepped on it repeatedly on the floor.“Ah, damn,” James muttered a curse, his glance moving from the cigarette to Oliver. “You won’t act like a damn brother to me, aren’t you?”“I won’t if you stay out of my sight,” Oliver replied coldly, ignoring James’ hostility toward him. “But why are you still here?”James didn’t answer that question. Instead, he looked away, focusing his attention to the clear sky.“Wait… Are you still hoping I’ll let you be a Legion V member?” Oliver asked, his brows furrowing with the realization. “Not a chance. Leave now.”Even with his cold demeanor, James didn’t move. This time, his gaze went toward Oliver, looking him in the eye.“Fine. I will—”“Did you treat my brother as a friend, not just a mere colleague?” James asked, interrupting Oliver’s words. “Aren’t you a

Oliver remained silent for a moment, pondering what to do with James’ information.Although he admitted at the back of his mind how helpful the information was, Oliver still wanted to punch James in the face.“Alright,” Oliver spoke after a few seconds. “Let’s do it your way. I’ll consider it as Plan C.”Oliver thought it would be enough, but to his amusement, James spoke.“I have a condition.” His expression hardened. “That part… I want you to leave it to me.”Hearing that statement, Oliver’s lips curved into a smirk. He already knew what James was talking about even if he didn’t directly mention it.As his lips curved into a smirk, Oliver extended his hand toward James. “Deal?”Nodding, James took it and both of them shook hands.“Deal.”***Meanwhile, the next day, Francis was at the Capital Hall’s rooftop, puffing his cigarette as he stared at the overlooking city.No one knew him as the other robber, and that was the same case with Melvin. However, since Oliver had beaten up Melv

‘Damn it. He knows,’ said Francis at the back of his mind, biting his lower lip in nervousness. ‘Maybe this is what he’s warning me about.’He added, ‘Oliver was fuming mad. I can sense it even though we had a far distance earlier.’Francis quickened his pace, weaving through the hallway. Desperately wanting to be away from Oliver, he decided to turn to the other hallway, reaching for the staircase. But before he could do that, Oliver was already in front of him, leaning on the wall, giving him an intense gaze. “Francis,” Oliver called in a familiar voice, a chilling sensation sending down his spine.Oliver didn’t use the voice modulator this time. And somehow, hearing his real voice made the hair on his neck stand up in fear. His footsteps halted, and his body froze.A muscle in his jaw twitched as he turned around, trying to make a calm and chill demeanor.“Hey, Oliver,” Francis greeted, acting like he wasn’t affected by Oliver’s presence. “What’s up?” he added to ask.Like earlie

Francis distinctly remembered having it when he walked out of the rooftop—“Shit,” Francis muttered a curse under his breath, remembering that he didn’t check for his pocket anymore after having a conversation with Oliver. Then, as if on cue, a cold sensation crawled up his spine. The air inside the car suddenly felt thick and suffocating. At that time Francis realized something wasn’t right. He froze.‘Someone was inside the car with me,’ Francis suddenly said at the back of his mind, the hairs on his neck standing up. ‘Who could it be?’Francis was about to turn, but before he could do that, a strong hand clamped over his mouth, pressing something soft against his skin—a handkerchief. His eyes widened, a sweet scent filling his nose.Chloroform.“Fuck!” Francis screamed as he tried banging the window, asking for help. But it was to no avail.

But talking about it was useless now.”And to be honest, Oliver was glad that it had ended that way.Because of what happened, he was able to return to his real family, Seraphine and Anastasia.“No. It’s alright. Shit.”The regret instantly consumed Trisha’s body as she covered her mouth, preventing her from gasping hard, as she leaned onto the wall.“If only I let Oliver have sex with me back then, and if we also had a child… He would have treated me the same way,” she muttered, clenching her fists.“I would also have his money. Seraphine had a good perception, or maybe it’s because we’ve been together for a long time,’ he thought.Oliver added, ‘It’s really hard to hide some things from her.’So, he decided to be honest with her about it.While walking toward the hallways, Oliver explained.“To be honest, I don’t know how I can explain it, or whether you’ll believe me or not,” he said in a low tone.“But the necklace I always have with me suddenly had a light on its pendant. And… poof. The light exploded.”He created a sound effect of an explosion, and his hands also re-enacted the same thing.“It didn’t hurt, but at the same time, I felt like something had changed within me,” he added. “I feel lighter and stronger in a way I can’t explain.”
