Without wasting any time, Oliver ran toward the exit as well, following the person he saw earlier.

However, when he went outside, the person he followed was already gone.

As much as he wanted to find whoever it was, Oliver decided to leave the Capital Hall instead.

Clicking his earpiece, Oliver spoke, “I’m out.”

“Jeez.” Samuel sighed in relief. “I’m already on my way toward Nick’s house.”

“Alright. I’ll also go there in a few minutes.”

Oliver ended the conversation. He walked toward the alleyway, but not toward Nick’s house.

But to confront the person who was in front of him right now.

Raising his gun, Oliver pointed it at the person wearing all-black clothes with a face mask, staring intently at him.

“Who are you?”

The man smirked, raising his hands in surrender. “Relax, Oliver. I’m not an enemy. I’m a friend.”

Slowly, his right hand went to his face mask and removed it, making Oliver’s eyes widen upon seeing who it was.

“James?” Oliver asked, his voice laced with shock and disbelief

Why are you doubting him?”“I’m not doubting him. I just have questions in my mind,” Oliver told Ray, then his gaze returned to James. “If you have that information, why did you hide it?”“Because I don’t know who to trust,” James answered honestly. The call was from Juan, his boss at the Capital Hall. He used a different number and not his personal one.Frowning, Oliver answered the call. “Hello, Sir?”“Oliver! Where are you?”“At home,” Oliver answered, his brows furrowing further as he heard the panic in Juan’s voice. “Why? Did something happen?”“The storage room was infiltrated, and a security guard was dead!” Juan exclaimed in terror. “I heard they took a valuable thing there. Come here quickly! The higher-ups are looking for you!”Oliver sighed. “Alright… I understand.”He ended the call. With confusion evident in his eyes, he looked at Ray.“What happened, Commander?” Ray asked in curiosity.“Someone went inside the storage room and killed the security guard there,” Oliver answered, passing on Juan’s words earlier. He added, “I assume it happened as soon as I and Samuel left the Capital Hall.”“What…” Ray trailed off, remembering the information Oliver had there yesterday. “Could it be about the drugs? Oliver looked a bit rough around the edges. He was wearing a tank top soaked with sweat, his sunburned skin and solid muscles on display.Over his shoulders, he balanced two heavy crates filled with fish, easily over 300 pounds between them. Yet, he moved with an effortless stride.Out of nowhere, a rock flew through the air, landing right by his foot and causing him to pause. It had to be those lazy coworkers of his, who always dumped the hardest jobs on him. Before he could spot the culprit, the market boss, Anthony, roared out from across the way.“Oliver! You think I pay you to slack off during work hours?”Yep, Oliver couldn’t even deserver a minute to catch his breath. To Anthony, he was no more than a workhorse. And it wasn’t just Anthony—everyone in town saw him the same way.For two reasons: First, he was an outsider.Second, the real kicker, he’d married the town’s richest beauty, Trisha Henverton. She wasn’t from some grand family, but around here, she was still a step above

He thought she must be joking.“Sorry, I don’t have time for games.”All he could think about was Teresa and Anthony’s bitter words from earlier. He didn’t want to doubt his wife, but her behavior had been strange lately. Anthony’s taunt had only scratched at a truth he’d been afraid to confront. Before Oliver could walk away, the woman called him from the back.“Please, come back, Commander! You’re destined to lead an empire, not live like this!”At the word “Commander,” Oliver hesitated. There was something familiar about it, something that tugged at a distant memory. But he shook it off."I'm leaving if you're not here looking for my trouble. Don't follow me." Oliver said. His demand sounded unfamiliarly firm. And weirdly, the woman listened to his order, stopped behind him.He headed straight to th

I could have done worse,” Oliver replied coldly. His face showed pain, but he held it in.“How could you lie to me for so long, Trisha? After everything I did for you…”“Oh, spare me. I gave you the chance to be my husband.” Trisha sneered.“Do you even realize what kind of life I could have had if I hadn’t been tied to you?”Each word was like a slap across Oliver’s face.“I could have lived a life of luxury. But what did I get? A worthless husband who couldn’t even find a decent job,” she added, her voice dripping with scorn.“I deserve someone like Denver, someone who can give me the life I should have had.”As she spat out these words, Oliver tightened his hands, struggling to keep his composure."I gave you everything I had...“No matter what luxury you wanted, I worked extra shifts just to buy it for you.“You wanted more spendi

Oliver’s hands moved toward the files on the shelves, looking at some folders that would catch his attention. However, after minutes of scanning, he found nothing usable about the Argus Industries. They aren’t even a part of the government, given that it was a private sector. The files only contained the basics. It was the same thing with Zayne Greensmith’s documents.“I wonder why this place is restricted to janitors. There’s nothing to be found here,” Oliver muttered, his brows furrowing.“Maybe that place was only a facade, and the real storage room was somewhere else,” Samuel told him.“Alright. I’ll try looking at the other places,” Oliver said and explored the entire storage room. However, after a minute, he returned to the same place, staring at the old shelf with his brows furrowed.“It’s here. I’m sure of it now,” Oliver muttered, caressing his chin. “This section won’t be a restricted area if they aren’t hiding something in this place.”The employee originally assigned to th

That person monitoring Samuel immediately hid himself in an alleyway, before taking his phone and dialing a number.“Hello, Jake?”It was Charlie Wiles, the Legion’s CEO.“Did something go wrong? Is that why you called?” Charlie asked, his brows furrowing.Among the Legion V members, with Oliver and Jack dead, Ray missing, and Nick working as a mere security guard, he cared about Samuel the most. And it’s not because he was genuinely concerned for Samuel. Samuel is a money-maker, and his skills will be used for Colossia’s benefit.“Yes, Sir,” Jake, an employee of the Legion answered. “Strangely, Samuel informed everyone that his clinic will be closed for a while.”Hearing those words, Charlie stood up, his left hand slamming onto the ground.“He’ll close the clinic? Even if that’s the leverage I have with him, that’s why I’m not prisoning him in the Legion even if I wanted to?” he asked.“Yes, that’s what I heard from him earlier,” Jake replied. His attention was already divided now.

Nick tilted his head in disbelief.“Another weapons company? But we have two,” Nick said, referring to Safe Haven Defense and Argus Industries. He added, “I don’t understand. It’s not like Colossia is going to war anytime now.”The City of Colossia allied with most of its neighboring countries, which considered Colossia inferior to them all.But that was so far from the truth. Colossia only just hides its resources from anyone to avoid any chaos.“Maybe they’re planning something bigger than the information we have right now,” Oliver said, his teeth gritting. Then, he added, “No matter what it was, we need to find out and stop it at all costs.”***After Nick hacked the phone and computer, Oliver took it upon himself to bring Nick back to his place of residence.Oliver informed Ray that he was going back, but he didn’t say that Nick was with him. That explains Ray’s shocked expression, and his happiness afterward.“Nick! Dude!” Ray exclaimed, then went onto Nick for a fist bump. “You
