Chapter 105

I drove my car to one edge of the city, a place I never knew existed.

It resembled a slum, yet slightly better. The houses were old and desperately needed renovation; their paint was peeling and faded.

I parked beside one such house, its fence dilapidated, screaming for repair.

As I walked to the fence, I noticed three people sitting on the road, their eyes fixed on me and my car.

Their gazes held a message I could clearly understand. I waved and called out, "My man, could you come here, please?"

One looked surprised, exchanged glances with his friends—a mix of shock and amusement—then, with a swagger akin to a gangster, approached me.

"What's up, man?"

"What's your name?"

"Bill," he responded.

"Alright, Bill," I said, pulling out three $100 bills. "I'll give you each $100 to watch my car for a few minutes. I won't be long."

His smile broadened, "Sure, man. No one's gonna touch your car. Enjoy your time. Me and my brothers will keep all the bad guys away."

"Good to hear it."
