Chapter 27

I was collecting human garbage in the front yard. I pulled the 8 thugs and laid them on the gate. Their cries of pain echoed, trapped in broken bones and their futile attempt to escape. I lingered there, my gaze fixed on the empty street, anticipating the arrival of another thug. Time ticked by, stretching the possibility that he might not dare to confront me, especially with his comrades incapacitated.

“Hei,” I called out, nudging Jack with a firm kick at the very spot where his bone lay shattered. “Please do tell me, do you still have any friends left?”

“We... don’t have friends anymore…” His voice quivered, his eyes wide with terror, reflecting his shattered spirit.

As I stood there, surveying the horizon, letting passersby witness the defeated men strewn before me, I noticed Rachel. She ambled down the street, her eyes scanning addresses, searching. “Rachel, I am here,” I beckoned, waving to capture her attention.
