Chapter 10. Elmdale village

Azurks slowly opened his eyes. He returned to his body when Zorka was no longer riding the kingdom's legal office carriage.

He gazed at Zorka and muttered, "Truly sad. That human willingly let their child's soul be replaced in this frail body.

What disgusts me is the behavior of this child's father. Saved by the child's mother during pregnancy. Actually, the original owner's child's soul had fairly strong magic energy even in the womb.

When dark magic attacked, it was the power of this child's original body's soul that protected the father. So, when born, this child had no magic energy. Tsk. Humans can be so cruel even with a life debt.”

Zorka, walking aimlessly after being dropped off at a crossroads in a rural village, felt Azurks perched on his shoulder.

"You're awake, I see. You slept soundly," telepathically remarked Zorka.

"I didn't sleep!" protested Azurks, refusing to accept it.

Then, Azurks cleared his throat.

"Ahem, just now, I met Renata."

Zorka's eyes widened in disbelief.
