trial day

"Who sent you?" Lee asks with unwavering confidence.

"You don't need to know," the driver responds, pulling the trigger swiftly.

But Lee's instincts kick in, and he subtly shifts his head, causing the bullet to miss its mark and shatter the back glass.

In the blink of an eye, Lee performs a remarkable maneuver, deftly twisting his hand.

Before the driver can even register what's happening, the gun is now in Lee's hand.

"Now tell me, who sent you?" Lee demands, his voice commanding respect.

The driver remains silent, but Lee isn't one to be deterred. He presses, "I won't ask again. Who sent you?" His hand hovers menacingly over the gun's safety.

"Mr. Chae... he sent me," the driver finally confesses, realizing the futility of resistance.

Lee can't help but burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the car.

"Tell him we should meet more appropriately next time. Thanks for the gun," he says casually as he exits the vehicle.

{two days later}.

The trial for the boy's death begins, and Lee observes from a distance to see how events will unfold.

Prosecutor Chan starts, " Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, On October 2nd, a young boy lost his life in a bar, initially ruled as suicide. However, we're here because the victim's parents suspect foul play involving a Shaw here. We aim to prove this was not a suicide but a homicide and that the accused is responsible. Thank you. "

"Go ahead," the chief judge prompts.

"Okay, now, I will begin by questioning the accused," Prosecutor Chan addresses the accused. "Shaw, did you know the victim?"

"I don't know him," Shaw replies earnestly.

"We just met in the bar that day, and he seemed depressed. He mentioned wanting to commit suicide, but I tried to cheer him up and offered him my drink. I had no idea he had added a pill to it."

The prosecutor presses on, "So, what happened after he drank it? Did you witness his death?".

"No, I...went out for a moment, and when I returned, he was already dead," Shaw explains.

"When something like that happens, you have to call for emergency help, and for 20 minutes, you didn't. Why is that?" the prosecutor questions.

"I was shocked, so shocked, that all I could do is stare, and I passed out," Shaw defends himself.

"You passed out for the whole 20 minutes?" the prosecutor presses further.

Lee, observing the proceedings, scoffs at the prosecutor's line of questioning.

It appears as though he's giving Shaw a chance to explain himself rather than pressing for the truth.

"Wow, you've come up with a perfect lie," Prosecutor Shaw comments.

"Objection!" Attorney Rex, representing Shaw, protests.

"Objection overruled! Prosecutor, please continue," the chief judge instructs.

Lee can't help but chuckle, finding the situation rather theatrical.

"Please have a look at this picture. This isn't a death by poison pill. You can see marks around the deceased's neck, indicating he was strangled before he died," the prosecutor presents his evidence, causing a stir in the courtroom.

After the prosecutor finished, Attorney Rex takes over.

"Before I proceed, my lord, there are no more questions I have for my defendant, as he has just explained all that happened that night, which is a perfect and truthful explanation. Now, let's talk about the marks around the victim's neck."

He produces a doctor's report file and displays it on the screen for everyone to see.

"This is a pill called botulinum made up of hydrochloride acid, and here is the doctor's report about it. It's a deadly poison that could induce a hot burning around the neck, so the mark isn't from my client but from the victim himself, clutching his neck in agony from the effects of the poison."

He continues, "If you are so sure my client did that, where are the fingerprints?".

Lee waits, anticipating that the prosecutor will present the fingerprints, but to his surprise, the prosecutor doesn't produce them.

It becomes increasingly evident that the prosecutor is working for them.

"We didn't find any fingerprints," the prosecutor admits, causing an uproar in the courtroom.

The lack of a proper investigation by the prosecutor astonishes many.

The defense attorney argues, "Suicidal behavior can be unpredictable, and individuals might do things you wouldn't expect. I rest my case here."

The parents of the accused vehemently protest, "No, my son didn't commit suicide. It's all a lie!"

The chief judge begins, "I will deliver the verdict after hearing from both parties, and it's clear that the charges against the accused are speculative and based on assumptions, with no substantial evidence..."

"What about this!",Lee raises his hand from the back, drawing all eyes towards him.

The chief judge allows him to proceed, confident that there won't be any evidence presented, they had destroyed it all.

Lee takes the oath and says, "I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God."

Rex, the defense attorney, glares at him. "What is your evidence?" he inquires.

"I would like it to be played in public," Lee requests, to which the judge tentatively agrees.

When the video is played, its contents shock everyone.

The footage begins with the accused in a barroom.

Suddenly, a girl, dressed as a bar staff member, enters to deliver a drink.

Shaw refuses to let her leave, attempting to take advantage of her.

The girl screams for help, but Shaw won't release her.

Unexpectedly, Ken enters the scene and saves the girl, but Shaw retaliates by pouring wine on Ken, temporarily blinding him.

Seizing the opportunity, Shaw strangles the victim to death.

The courtroom erupts with chaos as Shaw vehemently denies the authenticity of the video evidence.

Some shout that it's a fabricated video.

"It isn't a fabrication because there's another witness," Lee interjects, and the courtroom falls into hushed murmurs.

The girl who was abused in the video enters, taking a seat at the witness box and making the oath.

The chief judge questions her, "Is what's in the video the truth?"

The girl reluctantly answers, "Yes... he tried to take advantage of me, but the boy saved me."

Shaw's defense attorney attempts to discredit their testimony, claiming, "it's all setup... My lord, I would advise you not to lend credence to two people who just suddenly appeared with some bunch of fabricated evidence."

Lee then presents a set of fingerprint photos, saying, "These were found on the girl after she was injured by his actions."

The girl reveals the undeniable evidence on the back of her neck.

The chief judge contemplates the situation carefully, aware of the need for impartiality.

He carries out the verdict, "Based on the overwhelming evidence against the accused, it is abundantly clear that he is responsible for the death of the victim. This court, therefore, sentences Shawn Johnson to seven years in prison, followed by three years of probation."

While the verdict may not completely ease the pain, there's some comfort in knowing that justice is being served as he will be going to prison.
